I am a long-time lurker, and have been to WDW several times, but I just signed on as a poster (this, in fact, is only my second), and now I have a question, but not sure where to post it. If the mods need to move this to a more appropriate forum, I understand.
Anyway, I am a 45 year old teacher from the midwest (you only get one guess on the state
), and on my last 3 visits to WDW (2 - Dolphin, 1 - POFQQ), I have really fallen in love with the idea that after I retire, moving to Orlando and getting a job piloting one of the resort boats that service the areas I have stayed. A few years ago, one of the pilots I talked to (from Dolphin to Epcot) told me that he was a retired teacher from Indiana, and since that time, I have dreamed of doing the same.
My question is: How feasible is this? Also, where do I look up information on salary/benefits, etc? I looked on the Employment area of the WDW site, but there was no tab to click on for "Transportation", only areas like "Food Service" or "Entertainment". I would have thought with all the different modes of transportation, that would be a major area. Of course, the dream job would be to run the monorail, but I don't aspire to such lofty goals.
So, if anyone has information of where I should look, or knows someone who pilots a boat, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks.
