I have a penchant for being ripped off

I have a nasty habit for being ripped off. First it was a non-existent PayPal deal; then it was an eBay transaction gone bad. Now it's a Vinted transaction. I have the tracking number, name username for the party ripping me off, but Vinted won't do anything about it. My fault really as much as it is Vinted's. Basically I made a deal - £50 for a copy of Rocket: Robot on Wheels for the N64. Vinted didn't give me a scan code in lieu of a printable label, as is the option they are meant to give you. So, to save my buyer waiting, I posted the game via a tracked courier. I knew they got it, they even told me they had. But they refused to pay, even saying that they had no access to PayPal, etc. I offered a bank transfer, which was when they went quiet. I complained to Vinted - you'd think they would be annoyed at having a thief on their site? No luck. A few months on and still no payment.

I'm sorry. Just a vent.

I understand that you were trying to do a favor for the buyer, but why would you post the game before you were paid, especially if you have a penchant for being ripped off?

There is a difference between being a nice person and setting yourself up for a ripoff. The difference may be slight, but error on the side of protecting yourself.

I agree that the correct way to do business is the eBay way - payment first, goods afterwards. But Vinted do things the other way. They provide you with shipping labels and track the parcel for you, goods up front. Upon receipt of package being delivered, you are paid. Weird, huh?

No, that actually makes sense. You arrange a deal with the buyer (presumably through their website). The buyer pays Vinted simultaneously while Vinted sends you a shipping label. Since Vinted can track the delivery (through the label they send you), when they see it's received, they release the money.

YOUR problem is going outside of the arrangements set up by these companies.

Sorry that happened, but I think you made the right decision to take a break.

Your buy/sell business is all in the gading industry, right? I have a feeling that might have something to do with it. Don't ask me why the difference 😉 from people who use Vinted for clothes I only hear positive stories.

I actually have a private store which admittedly is in need of some extensive updates - many things are now more expensive than they were last month! It's interesting, the majority of the sales I make are of the Sega Tower of Power variety...
