Why, yes. That WOULD be Sharpie.

Magic Eraser and Goo Gone didn't work. Took 4 coats of paint to cover it.

Oh bless you! That's a rough one. Thankfully, neither of mine ever drew on walls. I don't have the personality to have taken that well.

I didn't handle it very well, either. However...my mother in law (who was watching him at the time) called to tell me what happened. And then when I walked in the door, my daughter was VERY excited to tell on her brother.

My son was quite giddy to show me the wall. "COLOR!! See??" was what he kept saying.

You can try a Mr. Clean scrubbing sponge, my success against markers had been hit or miss--but it is certainly worth a couple bucks to try. If that doesn't work the bad news is that you can't just paint Sharpie, you will have to apply a few coats of primer. I would even call your local paint store.

When my cat's do something naughty or make a BIG mess I remind them that it is a good thing they are cute. Your little guy is cute, lucky for him. :)

4 coats of paint!!!! :scared1:
My DS did this about 2 months ago and I have been meaning to get to the re-painting. Nothing worked to get the marker off our wall, either. I never expected it to take 4 coats to cover! I was just going to use some left over paint - Now I think I'm gonna need more paint!

I can see it now. 100's of years in the future, after your son has lived and passed on as a FAMOUS painter. Some archeologist uncovers the ruins of your home, and, with an X-Ray machine uncovers your son's very first Fresco Painting underneath all those coats of paint! Think of how much money that wall will be worth. :rotfl:

Did you try rubbing alcohol? That usually will dissolve sharpie.

While I wouldn't have appreciated the "art work" at the time, my DD is graduating this weekend, so I find your sons work absolutely adorable. You'll appreciate it and laugh when he's my DD's age. And you can hold it over his head for black mail purpose some day, too! :thumbsup2

When I was little, I wrote on my mom's antique piano the alphabet in permanent marker. I got in trouble and, in an effort to earn forgiveness, I tried covering it in white-out. That didn't work and over 20 years later, my attempt at teaching myself the piano never did pan out. (I used the alphabet because I knew some of the letters were needed to make music.). Kids are somethin' else, and I am glad you were able to preserve the artwork under several protective layers of paint.

When I was young my Uncle gave me crayons as a present and told me they were for coloring on the walls (he had a warped sense of humor). There's a picture of my Uncle and I washing the walls together.

For those of you who haven't painted over it yet, I second the rubbing alcohol idea. My little artists have gotten sharpie on furniture and carpet and rubbing alcohol (or even Germ-X or something alcohol-based) removes it like a charm!

I'll remember rubbing alcohol in the future. Because I'm positive more things like this will happen

There was a picture floating around the internet about an older toddler that colored all over a baby brother/sister with a sharpie--it is one off those pictures you laugh at really hard and thank GOD it wasn't your child that did that. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

We didn't have any coloring incidences, just hair cutting incidences.

If it happens again and he does it on something that a dry erase maker would wipe off of (glass, most smooth surfaces, etc), if you make a mark with the dry erase marker right on top of the sharpie and then wipe off with a dry towel, it usually takes both markers off.

I just got Sharpie out of some light colored pants with a product called Amodex. The Sharpie had bled in a pocket & made a nice large dark spot. Recommended on Sharpie's website. Safe on skin too.

http://www.amodexink.com/ I finally found it at Super Stop & Shop. The website will tell you who sells it, and how to get it off different surfaces. amazon.com sells it too.

I was completely blown away that it all came out. And days later by the time I bought the product.

FYI, rubbing alcohol did absolutely nothing to the Sharpie on clothing.

sun screen takes off sharpie!!!! when we use sharpie on our lamination at work we just slather on some cheap sunscreen and it comes off with a little wiping.

At least he's still little! My 18 year old DD went to town on her walls with a sharpie when she was about 13 or 14 and had been grounded for sneaking out. Ah, nothing warms a mother's heart more than seeing "I HATE YOU" in black sharpie on a sky blue wall. Yes, she spent an entire weekend scrubbing and painting. Thank God she seems to have grown up a little since them.

DD colored herself-with a bright blue Sharpie. Little polka dots from the shoulders down.

Then a few years later, she cut off her eyelashes. They were too long.
