I have a kindle question if anyone can help

I just bought a kindle for someone as a gift. Someone else wants to get them a gift card to buy books toward the kindle. What should they get? Thx. I know nothing about adding books or even anything about a kindle.

I'd think an Amazon gift card would be the best choice. If the recipient has Prime, they will have an option for thousands of free books, but a gift card would work for any that they want to purchase.

Amazon Gift Card. However, if the gift-giver wants, they could buy a gift card that's "branded" with Kindle on it so it looks as if it's meant to buy books (but it can buy anything from Amazon).

The Kindle is an Amazon device. Are you using “Kindle” as a generic term for e-reader?

You can't purchase kindle e-books via the Amazon shopping app at least with Google playstore. They did that to stay compliant with Google Playstore terms and conditions. You would need to visit the website to purchase kindle e-books.

I have a Paperwhite. I buy all my books from Amazon, using a credit card, but I am sure an Amazon gift card could be used.

I've never actually purchased via my kindle device (mine is a Voyage) but does it allow you to select your payment method? Or does it go to your default selected payment method?

Amazon will default to the gift card unless you choose otherwise.

I stopped buying gift cards for my wife for her Kindle. She gets the books she wants for free from the public library, and she has really taken to the free books on Amazon. Yes, many of the free books are pretty awful, poorly written and self published, which is what makes them even more entertaining......according to my wife.
