A tickets question, that I have heard one too many times from people. They have friends who have a friend who works at Disney, who claims they can get them park tickets for as many days as they want. I thought comp tickets were for Family only? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Instead of arguing with these people over something I'm unsure of, I just say "oh that's nice" :confused3

I got a one day hopper once from my best friend's boyfriends mother who works at WDW for free.

Cast members are generally given a few tickets a year (1 day hoppers) to use however they want. Some cast members (mangers and those who have been with Disney for a certain amount of time) have a maingate pass that they can use to get whoever they want in (limited to a certain number of people). They are supposed to stay with you and have to be with you for you to get in.

No the comp tickets can go to anyone. There are several types. Paper ones with no strings attached (the CM prints them off the computer, gives them to you and then you redeem them in the CM line at the park; they don't have to be with you) or the CM using their maingate and standing there with you and letting you in. Family would then be allowed to go off on their own, non family is suppose to stay with the CM.

All the CMs have the Maingate and depending on certain factors (CP or fulltime) a number of days that can get in guests.

CMs get a certain number of passes per year based on how long they've been there. I met a CM during one trip that had been there long enough that she could get someone in everyday of the year. Each pass is good for up to 3 people and is a park hopper. They can use one pass per day and can use them for anyone they want. My sis is a CM and mostly uses her passes for our family but occasionally will use them for a friend that happens to be in the area.

One of my dad's co workers has a friend who works at Disney. We can only meet him at the gate to get in, because I think they stopped the tickets.

I think the CM may have been pulling your leg some. The CMs can get up to 3 people into the park on their ID card/pass.They have to go into the park with you. Part time, CP, seasonal, and full time each have a certain number of days a year they can get people in. I think most full time can bring in people 10-15 days a year on their employee ID pass. It can be family or friends. They are responsible for their guests and are supposed to stay with them. If guest causes any problem in parks the CM could lose job. There are black out days that they cannot bring people into the parks. Also if you don't use all of your days- they do not carry over to the next year. You lose them. They do not stack up to give you unlimited days to bring people in. Once you are at the gate with your CM, you are issued a paper hopper pass so you can hop, get fast passes etc.

They also are rewarded passes to give to friends and family sometimes and their Christmas Gift includes hard passes for them to give to friends etc. too. I am not sure how high up in the corp you would
have to be to be able to bring friends in 365 days a year.

Thanks for the replies everyone! On a different note, it is kind of strange to me though that a friend of a friend would be offering the CMs tickets out to people they don't even know. That'd be like my friends offering their friends my cosmetic artist discount on mac makeup. :crazy2: Also said they can take them on a tour of the ultilidors??

Cast members have a certain number of comp tickets they can give to anybody they wish. The tickets do expire, which might explain the eagerness to give them away to distant acquaintances of acquaintances. I dont know if I would count on the tour of the utilidors though. These tickets do not require the CM to accompany the recipient to the park.

My sis gets 16 passes and has only been there a year. She doesn't always stay with us. A lot of times, she gets us in and goes to work herself. The blackout days are usually for certain parks. Mainly MK during the busiest time of the year. I think there is always 1park we can get into but not positive because I prefer not to go during those times. I don't think the CM i was talking to was messing around. She had been there 20 plus years. We were having the conversation about working there and the different perks of the job because my sis was interested in becoming a CM at this point.

CMs can not take their family or anyone else on a tour of the Utilidors.

HAH no tours of the tunnels are allowed. You would get trminated for that on the SPOT! :cool2:

CMs get a main gate they can use as well as paper tickets twice a year. They also get a special holiday pass with a few admissions on them. Like pp said, the cm is supposed to stay with friends while they are in the park. CMs can be punished or even fired for giving them or selling them to people they don't know.

When I worked at Vista United I had a Main Gate pass I could use anytime. I could get three other people in once each month average (12 times a year). We were given comp tix for Christmas and 4th of July.

LOL! The program is actually really easy to sign up for, as long as you have a make up business card!

Yea I was pretty sure that was a bunch of hooha!! I've done the paid tours before and they are very strict about who goes "down" there!
