I have a few questions....

I have never considered the DVC before, but it's starting to look like a good idea. Since I'm not very familiar with the DVC, I have quite a few questions:
1. How does renting points work? If I do decide to rent points from aq member, how can I guarantee that my reservation will be made/won't be cancled at the last minute, etc?
2. How much does it usually cost to rent point?
3. I am thinking of going to a DVC open house next time I'm in WDW. Where are they held? How long are they? Do you get any freebies for attending?

You should visit our DVC Rent/Trade Board here on the DIS. There is a <a href="http://198.64.133.85/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33">FAQ</a> there which may answer some of your questions.

The transaction is all negotiable between parties, but the member is always in control of the actual reservation- so there is some need for trust in these rentals.

The DVC "Open House" tours are offered throughout the day at WDW. You can make a reservation at any of the DVC kiosks, found in all Theme Parks and in each WDW resort. They will even pick you up for the tour and provide child care. The tour is held at the sales center at BWV and will last about 90 minutes- but can be tailored to fit your schedule if needed.
