my husband has a business trip in Clearwater, FL so my girls and I will be meeting him there (flying into Tampa) for a few days to go to the beach, then we will be renting a car and driving to Disney for a week. We don't need the car while in WDW...it's just to get us there.

I have heard we can return rentals in Disney.....is this true?

Also is there a certain car company we'd need to use to be able to return it?

And finally..where would it get returned?

Someone mentioned to me the Swan has a rental car service..that would be so convenient b/c we are staying at The Beach Club.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

I think you'll be able to do that with just about any of the major car rental companies. The company just has to have a location in Tampa where you can pick up the car and a location in Orlando where you can drop-off the car. I think often there can be a heafty mark-up for dropping off at a different location.

Check out the sticky on this board about "car rental locations..."

You can use Alamo and National and drop the car off at the Car Care Center which is at the Hess station by the toll gates of the Magic Kingdom or at the Dolphin hotel. We've rented and returned cars to the CCCenter a few times.

... and now for something completely different

Are you flying on an award ticket (a ticket purchased with frequent flyer miles)? If so, you may be able to change your itinerary to include a flight to MCO from TPA with no change in cost. Then, you wouldn't need to rent a car.

Just thinkin' outside the box. ;)
