I have a favor to ask...

I know this may not be the right board, but all my friends are on this board and I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread...

I know that some of you know that my little man is turning 6 tomorrow.

He is also scheduled to have surgery next Friday. He is having tubes in his ears, his tonsils removed, and his adnoids removed.

His recovery is expected to be about 2 weeks, but if you know Jamie, you know that he won’t sit still that long…

I am asking some of my friends to send him get well cards or if you have kids…to send a drawing or something.

I hope I am not asking too much, I just think it will help him feel better and since he is not in school any longer, he won’t be getting any get well cards from his little friends.

If you choose to make a card, you can mail them to:

Jamie Doyle
36 Rita Road
Williston, VT 05495

Thank you so much…

RoseAnne

What's his favorite Character?

Hi Mel. Jamie loves Donald. He has a stuffed one that they will allow him to take into surgery (at least until he falls asleep)- Thanks!

I got the cutest Mickey card that will be in the mail this evening. Hope all is well.

Joe and Mel got twin Mickey cards????...that would be great!!!

Thank you both.
Jamie is set for Surgery on Friday. He doesn't seem too nervous because I reassured him that he will be asleep when the IV is put in and he will be asleep when they do the 3 proceedures.
Jamie seems to think the Dr won't be able to take his tonsils and adnoids out because the Dr will get too grossed out...I tried to explain that the Dr does this everyday and won't be grossed out, but he doesn't get it...

I'll have a card sent off tomorrow from someplace close to where I live. Unfortunately, by the time I tried to do whatever it is I tried to do today, it was hot and crazy crowded. So tomorrow, it's up and out the door early to beat the crowds, then back just as fast to A/C and a long nap.

Thanks Brad, That's very sweet of you!!! Don't go to too much trouble...no more ER visits for you!!!

RoseAnne wanted me to let everyone know that Jamie is still in surgery, but everything is going according to schedule - apparently the flavored anesthetic was a big hit.. for a few seconds anyway until he conked out.

Thank you again to everyone for your public and private support. While these may be relatively non-critical procedures, they can be pretty scary, especially for a 6-year old. I think that makes your love and support all the more special. Thank you again for your care and friendship.

Tom,

Thanks for the update. Jamie has been on my mind and having a granddaughter his age, I know you still worry even though it is considered a routine procedure.

A package was mailed to Jamie yesterday and he should receive it in a few days.

:hug:to all.

Tom...thanks for the update. Give RoseAnne my love when you talk to her. I am putting something in the mail for Jamie tomorrow :) :goodvibes

Thanks Cait. :)

Well, the surgery is over and he's resting up, apparently watching the US Open and enjoying popsicles in between morphine drips.

Yeah! Glad to hear he is doing ok, I need to get to the post office tomorrow! I'm late as usual

Glad to hear that all went well! Thanks for the updates Tom!

I'm glad to hear he is doing well! If I knew he was into golf, I would have stopped and picked up something from the Open ;)

Good Morning everyone!
Jamie did very well thru surgery. They decided to drain his ears for now and they want to check them again in the Winter for tubes (Yeah for me...another surgery co-pay!!!) He did have the tonsils and adnoids removed.
He had a very rough night Friday night when the Morphine wore off and he was just left with the Tylenol and Codine. Rough, Rough, Rough. He did a little better on Saturday night with his dad, but then had a rough day yesterday with a fever...
He did receive some cards in the mail on Friday and Saturday.
He was very excited to get candy from Christi (and some tea for me!!)
He loved the card from Patty, with a last name like Doyle (you know he's Irish) and he LOVES looking for 4-leaf clovers!! Great card!
He loved the post card from Sha in England. Now he wants to go and see the castles...
Jill even sent a US map! We will be sure to mark it with pins to show where his new friends are!
I am extrememly appreciative of the support and love from you guys! Jamie really lit up when he saw he had mail.
I will update more as he gets better!
Oh...Jamie never watched a stitch of golf until Tom came into our lives...what is he doing to my child??? The nurse had Disney movies and everything for him to choose from and Jamie wanted golf...oh brother!!

So glad Jamie liked the card. Being irishmyself,
as soon as I saw it I knew Mickey and 4 leaf clovers
was perfect.

Too bad I couldn't get a mickey bar in there.
Hope he's doing better.

Patty

I sent a card and stickers off today. First few days at home are always rough. But after every nights sleep he will wake up feeling a little bit better. I know that doesnt help much when your baby is miserable . All you can do is keep them distracted .

I have 3 kids and one is your sons age. I just went through my scare last week when we suspected appendicitis. Since I had it before and mine ruptured I was really scared for him. We did the cat scan thing and all that and he was fine thank God. But I just wanted to say I know how you must feel. Its hard being a mom and worrying about the little person you love so much. Hardest thing in the world.

Get some rest yourself (sleep when he does) . He will feel so much better soon. And he wont have to deal with those yucky tonsils anymore . ( Doc wants mine out now so I also know how bad tonsils can feel!) And kids heal up super fast .

Thats cute he likes golf. They start young dont they? :goodvibes

Oh I dont know if you have one but if he gets tired of ice cream ( hard to believe its possible) they have those ice shavers at Wal-mart and Target and that with a little Sprite would feel really good on his throat as well . Sometimes they dont want a lot of milk stuff in their tummy after a while.

Am glad he got the card... was hoping to mail out what I got when I got back to the states, but will have to mail in the next couple days.

Hope he continues to do better and you get some rest too.
