Me and DS were going to be staying at the Poly. However we have had some expenses come up, and while we would be able to squeeze it in things would be very tight for us :sad2: . I wanted to switch to CSR. When I called my TA she said she could only put is in POFQ, which I do not like at all. My deposit with her is non refundable. So what do I do? Do i stay at a resort I don't like to save the 200 or book through AAA which would save me $200 anyway and stay somewhere that I like?

I'm confused. Are you saying that you *could* get CSR if you went through AAA, but your TA can't get you a room there? That doesn't make any sense .... if it's available to one agency, it should be available to another. :confused3

Ah yes, I forgot to clarify that part lol. My TA only books group blocks, so she doesn't have one for CSR, only POFQ.

Sounds like the loss/gain opf the $200 cancels it out, so I'd probably try to stay somewhere I like.

Just a question though...have you ever stayed in POFQ? It's a cute hotel, with some cute themeing, the little boat that goes to DTD. Do you spend a lot of time in the room, where your surroundings will make that much of a difference??

Just some food for thought.

That's pretty much how I'm looking at it. I will be spending a fair amount of time at the resort. This is going to be a slow paced trip because it will be just me and DS. We can just take our time do our own thing. We have enough time to spend 2 days in each park which we don't need for AK so that day can be split between DTD and the resort as well.

Take the loss, especially if it is made up with your AAA discount........and stay somewhere you will be happy :) If you are not happy with your resort upfront, it's bound to put a damper on your trip.

We love POFQ! The size and theming are great and it's so convenient to DTD!!

You should stay at the resort you like. When you visit DTD, take the boat to POFQ and look around. If you like it... book it next time. You also won't be stuck waiting an hour for a bus to show up at DTD!!:rolleyes1

First of all, what don't you like about POFQ?

Second of all, how much do you save by switching to the AAA reservation at CSR?

Personally, although I am a deluxe girl through and through, I would stay anywhere my budget allowed and I want to visit ALL the Disney resorts. . .

Just my two cents. . .

Well there's a few things. The bus situation is a big one. CSR doesn't share with any other resorts. POFQ doesn't have a TS restaurant. I really do like the CSR theming better than the POFQ also. I am willing to visit it though and look around! But I would really prefer to stay at CSR

AAA would save us $195.

This is what I would do:
1. If the travel agent had really worked hard to take care our travel plans then I would stick with her; if she only made a couple of calls then I would switch.
2. If I hadn't been to either resort before then I would start with the one which appeals to you the most - CSM.
3. If I understand correctly , the only difference between the two reservations is $5 - if so, don't let it stop you.

The busses do run a little faster at CSM according to my guide book, but POR has a full-service restaurant, Boatwrights.
I bet that you will like both resorts so I would switch unless my TA had done a lot of work.

Choose the resort that you really want. Personally, I would not do the Poly if things were going to be tight. Switch to the moderate that you really want.

Honestly the bus situation is not a big deal. It's just like hitting all the bus stops at the other resorts that have more than 1 stop [CSR included] but since POFQ has only one you are the 1st on and off everytime! The lack of a TS restaurant wasn't a big deal to us as we ate most of our meals in the parks. However, the boat to DTD makes it sooo quick and easy to get there that you should try one of the TS places there. I recommend Raglan Road! It's really a fantastic resort - don't knock it unless you've tried it!

Thanks for all the input guys! You have been super helpful. DS has been looking with me and I think he really has his little heart set on POP for this year. As much as I would prefer a mod, I couldn't tell him he has to stay in one. It's his trip after all (at least I keep telling everyone that :rotfl2:)

Our first on site trip we stayed at pors because a friend could get us 40% discount there and I was sure we would hate it. But we loved it and pofq so much that we decided to buy dvc.
Something to keep in mind is that you can also use the pool at pors. My kids loved the pool at pofq. They thought the dragon slide was so cool. They also loved the boat ride to dtd. I love staying at any resort that offers a boat ride over a bus ride to dtd.
