Friday, Dec 6th –Mini Meets during the day and Illuminations Dessert party at 8pm(there are still some slots still available to purchase tickets for this Unforgetable Event. )

Do i have to purchase a ticket for this? I thought that it was paid for out of the $250 that we have already paid?

Saturday Dec 7th – Mystery Dinner Theater 9pm Booking at Grosvenor Resort at Downtown Disney We will be awarding the free Cruise prize the night of this event.

Do you have to attend this dinner in order to be included in the prize draw?

Also last question, when can i expect my refund as i could of really done with the extra $$ for my trip.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
Emma

I'm not Pete, but I know the payment for the dessert party and the Murder Watch dinner will come out of what you have already paid, and the difference will be refunded (not sure how quickly).

Hi Emma.....I do believe Ms Nancy is right.. the fees for these events will be deducted from what you have already paid.. and hopefully I can get the second part answered as well for you.....I am trying......Hugs.

Thank you Nancy & Marsha that has helped with my first question.

Also Pete has confirmed on a different thread that you DON'T have to go to the mystery dinner to win a prize, so thats sorted too.

Just a rough idea about the refunds would be helpful.

Thanks :Pinkbounc

Hi Emma,

The previous answers you recieved are correct these items will be deducted from your refund.
As for when you can expect to recieve it here is what Pete said in his original post

Everyone will be getting a refund of what they paid, less the amount of the Illuminations party . Some money has already been laid out for the event, and the refunds on that money are going to come from my pocket. We had transferred money from the PayPal account to the checking account where the payments were going to come from. We now have to transfer that money back to PayPal, and that takes 4 to 7 business days to happen. Once that money is back in PayPal, we will start issuing refunds.

As you can imagine there is a tremendous amount of work involved in redoing everything at this late date and I know Pete has been working hard at it.

When will the last refund be completed? As someone who is on a very tight budget and out of work, it is critical to know the timeline. Starting something and completing the task are two different things. Once it is begun, will the refunds be completed all at once? Or will some people get them within 4-7 business days and others not for 10-15 business days (or later).

I believe that making sure everyone is completely clear on the expectations is paramount to maintaining a positive attitude. (And a positive cash flow) Please keep in mind that many budgets will be strained to the breaking point by the changes in the DCII event and it may be a hardship for some people to come up with additional money to pay for their trip.

OK, people, let's figure this out........Pete says it takes 4 to 7 business days for the money to transfer from the checking account back to Pay Pal. If he initiated the transfer as early as Friday, Nov. 22nd, there are only 3 business days until the Thanksgiving holiday. Friday, Nov. 29th is a business banking day, that makes 4. Allowing the maximum, means the $$ won't be back in the Pay Pal account until Weds., Dec. 4. Then, and ONLY then, can Pete and his trusty crew start initiating any transfers back to us. That, too, will take several business days to clear. Personally, I don't see any possibility of having any refunds in our hands before Dis Con is over. While it would certainly help our personal budget to have that money available for the trip, I am not counting on it.

Pumbaa...I'm trying to figure out your statement above...how will budgets be strained to the breaking point by the changes... From what I can tell we won't get food for the registration, and they canceled 2 breakfasts.....So, it can't be the food expense i can find breakfast for a few dollars...what else could be that expensive that I'm not thinking of...

What additional money are you going to need for your trip now that you wouldn't have needed a week ago???

I don't think we need to judge anyone at this point. I know a lot of people have been scrimping and saving every penny to make this trip. I, personally, am amazed and very thrilled that some people will go to such great lengths to join us! You have to love Disser's. The deposit was paid and now it needs to be returned, people certainly have the right to their money. Pete is doing what he can to accomplish that.
In a short time we will all be in Disney having a blast.
I am ready :)

Hi everyone:

I can begin issuing the refunds when the money clears back into the PayPal account. The money had been transferred to the Werner Tech checking account in the assumption that we would be cutting a check to the Swan/Dolphin. Since that did not happen, I had to transfer the money back to PayPal, which takes 4 to 7 days. On the outside, we will be issuing the refunds on December 1st. If the money clears prior to that, the refunds will be issued at that time. Just for the record, I issued the transfer request on Wed night (which is Thur morning for PayPal, the 7 business days would be Dec 1.)

Thanks,
Pete

Thanks Pete for the update.

As to how many meals we now have to pay for we have the opening reception which was lots of snacks, but I wouldn't have to eat if I did that. We had 2 breakfasts and we had the dinner that was on Saturday. We can do the Mystery Dinner, but I don't eat prime rib and I won't be attending that so that is another meal that I have to pay for. Even eating cheap I figure at least 15.00 per meal at Disney..That's 90.00 more than I planned on spending...for me and others that is alot of money.
Just clarifying that I know where Pumbaa is coming from, cause I'm in the same boat.

Nancy,
Just FYI there is a lot of stuff available besides the prime rib. Have you checked out the menu?

I don't think we need to judge anyone at this point.
I really wasn't trying to judge anybody, just trying to figure out where my math was going wrong....

This could be my answer....

I figured the receptions was just light fare, so, I planned on spending money for dinner...(something others didn't have in their budget).....and I plan on doing the Mystery Dinner..so no cash out of pocket here.... and for Breakfast....a pastry and drink usually suffice....Say $5 per so a total of $20 for both Zurg and myself....

So, it's the difference between $20 for 2 people and $90 for one that is the answer. Which is alot of money.....Pumbaa I wasn't trying to slight you; just figure out why you thought it was a strain. Doing the math for me didn't seem bad but doing the math in your senerio is a strain...hope you understand where I was coming from when I asked my question...

In the long run - you will save money with the changes made to Dis-Con - though unfortunately Pete will not. Just about any restaurant at WDW takes credit cards - so charge the extra breakfasts and dinners. By the time you get your credit card bill - you will surely have your refund.

You are assuming that everyone has this available to them. Keep in mind that not everyone does.

Pete, thank you for your response.

Yep..no credit card available here! I should say, I have one, but not that I am free to use for all my meals.

Alex, I thought the dinner was prime rib, I didn't know we had a choice...but I probaby still wouldn't go..this type of dinner thing really isn't my cup of tea.

Zurgswife...I figured 15.00 a meal figuring in something to drink and tips for sit down service. Going with Barb I know she likes to do a lot of different restraunts when she is there so I figure breakfast will be a sit down deal. Normally at home I don't even eat breakfast.

So, maybe I'll just order a pastry and a nice cup of tea even at a sit down...try to save money wherever I can..AND maybe I can come home a few pounds skinnier!!! Wouldn't that be great, I usually gain weight on vacation because I eat more than I do at home.
