Ok in April I am going to to be a Bridesmaid(the worlds oldest living ;) ) And it had been 10 years since I have been in a Wedding. So I am venting for a moment. Since when do the Bridesmaids get to tell the bride what to do?

Since the begining it has been nothing but smart mouthness. The Bride has picked out Make a match at Davids in Peri-I am ok with this. I looked like Barney in the last wedding I was in. One of the bridesmaids has pitched a fit from the begining-she thinks we should be able to go out & get what ever we want. The bride is letting us each pick our top. And then we need to order soon we are at 14weeks. She told the bride that is what everyplace says that & we do not need to order until 8 weeks or less. All the skirts have to be made shorter to knee length.

And the Bride asked one of the Bridesmaids daughters to be on the wedding & she quilted the bride into having her 2 other kids in the wedding. And is now complaining about what it is costing her.

And the sister(the one who is causing all the dress problems) Keeps calling her Bridezilla.

What happened to just doing what the Bride asks? I mean it is the couples day.

Thanks for letting me vent. And to all you Brides-just enjoy your day.

I think your friend is very lucky to have you in her wedding party. I think it's sweet of you to be the voice of reason in the whole situation, I hope everything works out for the bride and everyone is able to keep their sanity!

Kae, I agree. It is the bride's day and she should determine what her attendants wear.

Whenever I was an attendant, the bride was the one who chose everything that I wore and that was perfectly fine with me. I was just so darn honored to be a part of the wedding party and my friend's big day.

Goodness--- Ok I am not familiar w/david's ordering policy but the shop I worked at carried Mori Lee, Alfred Angelo, Levkoff, maids and it takes 3 months to get them. Somtimes they come in earlier but it was pretty much 3 mo, at 14 weeks that is close since alterations need to be considered. I am having issues with my maids over color. I always told brides to pick the dress and tell them that was the dress, b/c there are too many opinions. I am not sure when the bridesmaid began telling thehe bride what they thought. I am finding that it is best to not ask their opinion, b/c if they smell weakness they will try to get you to change. Hang in there and be supportive to your bride, she will need you - I just keep feeling like I am doing everything wrong since after each decision I make someone is mad and that is not just w/ bmaids....it is w/everyone, except my mom.

I know what it feels like to be the bride in this situation, having a demanding maid-of-honour who also treats you bad generally as well (but only starts to do this after I've asked her!). She was making me miserable, so I told her that it would be family only at the wedding. I'm not saying that all brides should get rid of the trouble maker, just put your foot down and do what's best for the wedding. If she is a true friend, she will understand. I've since learned that my previous MOH was not a true friend.

Wow... there seems to be more and more of this. I think bridesmaids these days want to have 2 or 3 wedding days and will use their friend's to fulfill that. While I like having the input from my BMs (and brother... he's standing on my side), I also like having the ability to say no, yes, maybe, not quite.

I agree with the above poster who said you should be the voice of reason and perhaps remind the other girls that this is not their day to shine, it is her's, and ultimately, this day is about the bride, groom, and their love... not their dresses.

Edit: If it's about ANY dress... it's about the Bride's dress!
