with a friend. He and his wife and their two girls are making their first trip to Disney later this week. And they're doing it right....Platinum plus Dining! Staying at the AKL w/ Savannah view (worried about the construction, but hey....).

Anyway, my buddy thinks he's a big eater. He swears that he's going to be able to do three full sit down/table service meals every day. He keeps telling me "Dan, you have no idea how much I can eat!" So I bet him ten bucks that there's absolutely no possible way that anyone can do it for a week........

Heck, I couldn't even handle one TS + one CS a day last time-and I think I'm a pretty big eater.

So what do you think. Is my ten bucks safe???????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Unless he is a Guiness record holder for "biggest pig on earth" I think you are safe :lmao:

I think you better go with him. How will you know if he's telling you the truth?:rotfl:

Does he have ADR's for 3 meals a day?

Nope, they've only got one ADR for each day. I've told them that if they were planning on getting into anything else, they had better get on the phone!

While I'm a **little** jealous of the Platinum Plan, I actually tried to talk them out of it. I just don't think the value is there given the fact that there are only 24 hours in a day. Plus, they're going at peak season, when the lines for everything will be pretty huge, and there won't be many TS restaurants they can just walk in to. But they said they wanted it to be "like a cruise" where they could do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted.

I hope they feel like they got good value.....

Your $10 is very safe...no way! I have always considered myself a big eater (6'5"...250) and when we did DDP last December I as so stuffed I thought I was going to bust. And like you said...that was just a CS and one sitdown meal a day. Heck, the snacks we saved for the last day and got a bunch of snacks we took back home with us...couldn't even do them while there.

Um, what are your buddy's wife and daughters going to be doing while he's trying to get his money's worth out of the Platinum Plan? Figure an hour for breakfast, hour and a half for lunch, the same to two hours for dinner.

I think your money's entirely safe - but you might want to require receipts or photographs as proof...

I'm starting to get scared! I just started lurking over here this week. We're going down 20-27th of Spet with free dining and have pretty much 2 ADR's for TS meals per day...we figured since most of our meals were free we'd splurge and booked a character b-fast almost every morning...plus dinners every night. I love food, but I'm a petite gal..now I'm worried we over-did it. I guess I just need to have self control and even though we'll be paying for a lot of the breakfast, I do not need to eat 30 bucks worth of food!!popcorn::

I don't know. For years we did the Gold Key plan which included three meals/day. Years ago, it was TS in the parks or resorts. The only place you could do CS was in the resorts and who runs around to resorts to try CS.

Anyway, we loved it. It gave us time to enjoy family time. With three meals/day, the temptation to "maximize" the plan is gone. We also didn't do many buffets..maybe one character meal/trip when our kids were young.

I also think it is easier to eat lighter and healthier in TS restaurants than QS.

I will say though that during our last trip in May, a number of restaurants seemed to have slowed down service. It seemed we waited 1/2 hour for our sandwiches and salads at the Plaza for instance. And May isn't that busy of a time.:confused3

I do think they will be frustrated if they don't make more reservations unless they will be happy using QS instead.:headache:

I cannot believe someone thinks they can eat that much!!! My DH is sitting here and says just the idea of it makes him sick. I think you will be $10 richer in a week or so.:cheer2:

The platinum plan is so much more. The premium plan also offers 3 meals per day and unlimited recreation and is a better deal IMO.

But with both plans I don't think you will realize full value unless you use some of the other components beside meals...Cirque, dinner shows, golf, tours, etc..

Yikes....thats a lot of food......

I agree....DDP with 2 meals.....is a LOT of food.....

You'll be 10 bucks richer....
OR....he'll be 10 pds fatter:lmao:
Kerri

Oh, he's gonna be ten pounds fatter no matter what!!

That platinum plan is soooo much more expensive. I really don't see how anybody can get the value out of it. It's really just a matter of perceived convenience-the ability to do whatever you want without having to pay "extra." To me, the problem is about the amount of "stuff" that there is to do compared with the number of hours in a day. There's no way you can fit everything in.

They've got their tickets for Cirque, a bunch of ADR's, golf ressies for 2 days, and they plan to rent a "boat" or two during their stay. My only question was "when are you going to the parks?????" I just don't see how they're going to be able to do it all!!

But I wouldn't mind trying it myself...........

You may find yourself cancelling several of the ADR's during your stay because 2 TS per day plus your CS and credits are probably going to be way too much for you.

We'll be on the DP for the first time this coming fall, but I know that when we traveled last year, most days it was a quick breakfast for us, CS lunch and a sit-down dinner (usually off-site) and that was plenty for us. And I won't lie...I'm nowhere near petite. And when I say CS lunch, that doesn't include any dessert.

If you have the premium plan, can you use it for room service meals?

If you have the premium plan, can you use it for room service meals?

In the past room service was not included in the equivalent of todays premium package. It was always included in the platinum as I recall though. Same with in room babysitting....included in platinum, not in premium. Children's Clubs were included in premium though. You could check mousesavers. I would do a link but I guess her site is copyrighted.:confused3

I personally could eat three sit down meals a day and I don't think that makes me a pig :confused3 . When you're trekking around the parks you can build up an appetite. Besides that, most people eat three meals a day anyway, so why not a sit down one?

Do you mean 3 Full TS meals=app/entree/dessert?! Does he know you mean that? :lmao: We've done the DDP the last 2 years & it's A LOT OF FOOD as is!! Especially when it's hot it's so hard to eat that much! You just don't want to! I can't imagine eating 3 apps/3 entrees/3 desserts every day & still wanting to move let alone golf, rent a boat, go the parks!!

But if he can, more power to him! Please keep us posted on your bet!! :thumbsup2
