Should I have been quarantined? On my last cruise on the dream I threw up EVERYWHERE, i mean like a gallon or two of throw up at 11:30 at night. I told our room cleaner that I threw up and I felt fine the next morning. (I still am fine) She never quarantined me. Should I have been??? Im not complaining just curious.

How to write a proper trip report?

Thanks!!!

The medical team is who does the quarantining, not the stateroom attendant.

Now, should you have gone to medical? If *I* threw up that much, I would have.

And yes. They probably would have quarantined you for 24 hours.

Nausea doesn't necessarily require quarantine, but they might do so as a precaution. However, as PP said, the stateroom attendant will not give a quarantine order, nor are they likely to "report" someone unless you requested them to contact assistance for you. I'm sure any given night there are people who drank too much, ate too much, and/or very sensitive to ship movement for seasickness.

Other than that one night, I hope you enjoyed your cruise!

Our last cruise allergies hit me very hard was going through several boxes of Kleenex a day, I worried about being quarantined if our room host noticed then one day we came back to our room and there were 5 boxes of Kleenex on the bed our room host had noticed all the full garbage cans and took care of me :) I thought a room host would be obligated to report anything they noticed. Wasn't til the last day I came accross a store that sold allergy medication :woohoo:. Now I make sure I travel with it after 4 horrible trips. I think you should only be quarantined if a fever accompanies the naseau cause I'm sure on a cruise ship that's a normal thing.

Sounds like something you ate didn't agree with you or perhaps some seasickness, as opposed to an infectious bug.

Because they are curious. If you don't have an answer or something nice to say don't say anything at all.
I am curious to know why, after the fact, they think they should have been quarantined by the room steward. Is my question less valid than theirs?

Alls Im saying is that I thought she would have sent me to the doctor at least. You know how Disney is. It seems like everywhere you go you get a hand wipe.

It is not up to the crew to send people to the doctor. This is where personal responsibility on your part (and the part of your parents since you've stated in another post you are a minor) comes in. If you were vomiting THAT much, the medical center should have been visited by you without anyone "sending" you there in order to ascertain you were not contagious and possibly rehydrate you.

As to your other question: there are no rules about how to write a trip report. Have a look at the trip report sub forum and the various reports there. You will see many different styles. You can do it chronological or grouped by topics, you can add pictures or not. I think the best approach is to write what you think you would like to read in other's trip reports.

I asked my parents (it was a "it's a virus, there's nothing you can do.) I swear I asked them like 20 times. It was also late at night so they wanted to go to bed. I think if it were during the day they would've said yes.

But if it was a virus, those ARE contagious. And Noro IS a virus - right there in the name NoroVIRUS.

But the point remains, it is not the crew's responsibility to tell you to go to the doctor. It is yours. Even at 13.

I wasn't there and don't know what you ate, but if you just did one big episode of vomit, it sounds more like something you ate vs. a virus. Being a kid, relying on your parents is what you should have done. If they were concerned, I am sure that they would have notified the medical staff. I don't think the stateroom host would ever be in charge of notifying medical. I suppose if they had to change soiled sheets, they would have possibly said something.

For me personally, if I threw up that much, I would have kept myself locked up until I was sure it past (like 24 hours after event with no other symptoms). I was a throw up queen as a child and would vomit all night long whenever I ate chocolate or was nervous about anything. Once in a while, my mom would take me to the doctor for it, but he always said there was nothing to do about it and never prescribed anything.

I'm glad you are okay. I am sure you parents know you better than anyone on this board and made the right decision for you at the time. The shorter answer to your question is No, the stateroom host should not have quarantined you. That is not their job.

It was. I ate horrible that day. I really ate horrible the whole cruise. I really need to work on that. I actually just spent the final day on the balcony. I knew I was complaining about somebody throwing up one day and saw that person out and about the other days. I thought she was going to get everybody else sick. I didn't want to be that person who got the others sick.

Im pretty sure there are signs up in every bathroom that say that if you have ANY episode from either end then you are meant to at least call medical/guest services, any time of the day or night, and let them decide. Most of the time they won't put you in isolation after one episode but they're meant to keep a log of it and check in with you.

I know, I wasn't relying on the crew to tell me. I asked my parents SEVERAL times.

Yes it says any nausea or diareaha please contact the medical center.

It's beginning to sound like you wanted to go the medical center. But, as your parents know you best, possibly they have a better handle on whether what you had was worth visiting a doctor for.

Also, there's a cost involved with seeing the doctor onboard. And that's not covered by most heath insurance plans. That could be a bit of a factor.

I have been on at least one cruise when seasickness took out a large portion of the cruisers and crew. If they quarantined everyone the common areas would be very empty for the length of the cruise. If there were other symptoms like fever or diarrhea it would be irresponsible not to tell the medical staff.
