I hate to admit it, but I DO think there's a such thing as too much Disney!

I can totally see that happening. Even though I had spent most of my life wanting to go to DisneyWorld and I did finally recently for the first time in my 33yrs. But then I went again right after that- and we're going again this year MOSTLY for 2 reasons. 1) because I have a PAP and want to get the most use out of it and most importantly 2) we went during the busiest time of the year on the trip that we all went -with kids- and now that I've been during a much slower time of year I can see how much we missed during that trip with the kids. I want to go back with the kids during a slower season so they can enjoy way more of WDW than they did on the last trip! (Which btw we only spent 4 days of that trip actually at WDW.... 4 days for our first trip during the busiest time of the year- so you can see why I want to take them again! LOL)

But I can honestly say that after this next trip, I'll probably want to give it a rest for awhile. Maybe a year or two- but atleast a year. I will have seen all I want to see (which is pretty much everything- there's only a few things I've missed so far) and so will the kids. So we can stand a break and take a vacation somewhere else atleast for one year. Then when we go again, in another year or two, our youngest will be old enough to ride more rides and participate in the "clubs" and such- while our oldest is not quite too old to do so also. The year after that she'll be too old though. :(

So Sept trip and then a break for a year or two. Or so I say now... LOL

Our kids love it even on the third go!
DH and I have had enough for ten years. We loved every minute of it but it isn't relaxing. Our kids will love it more in a few years when they have forgotten so much.

We really enjoyed Mexico last year. Now that was relaxing.

We find WDW a great activity holiday for sure.

We went to WDW in Jan and Dec 2000. On our last day at WDW in December we were eating lunch in the Castle and we were all just glazed over. We didn't even enjoy the meal because we were so tired. We were there from Saturday one week until the next Sunday and we rested and went to IOA too, but after awhile it's a littler harder to keep yourself 'excited'. I always figure if I'm spending that kind of money I better be enjoying myself. We got burned out on that trip a little bit.

A job layoff, ill health and money problems has prevented us from returning sooner. I think that we got over the burnout after about 7 months and were already dreaming of going back. When we were in the midst of our troubles I did not visit any WDW sites at all. It only made me feel worse. At one point early last year when a TV ad for WDW came on, I just cried and told my DH, "We'll never be able to go back, will we?" He of couse, wisely assured me that we'll be going again.

I think we all need a break from trip obsession once in awhile. I say, give yourself 6-8months and, like pregnancy and childbirth, you'll be remembering only the happiest memories.:sunny:

Hey.. it can happen.. I am actually taking a break myself and going to Key West instead.. I do need a break for a New England winter and that is why WDW was always a favorite.. I think once the new attraction in Epcot is open, I will want to go back.. but for now, I want to see some other parts of the US.. maybe a trip to Washington in the Spring to see the cherry blossoms.. who knows..

My son has seen Disney about once a year starting with a day at DL at one years old. Only two of his disney trips have been week long ones at WDW though. Our last trip was the first week of Dec. at WDW and it is too bad that we are meeting extended family there so soon after - first week of March. Wish there was six months between trips instead of just three. I'm still very excited about the trip and my kids are looking forward to it. It even helped to relax on the Dec. trip, knowing we could see things in March if we didn't get to it. The "too much" feeling comes from the 2day/3night trip in April for the MIL because she feels left out:rolleyes: , that trip I could SO do without. If I could just do the pool and DTD those two days, but no, I'll be whirlwind tourguide during one of the busiest seasons of the year (listen to me whine). Don't get me wrong, I would love to be someone's guide for free :p , but after close trips together you start to think about the money you are spending and what you could be doing instead......

We went on our first WDW trip in May of 2001. Started dreaming of the next trip on the shuttle out. Booked another trip when the codes came out for May 2002. And while waiting for that trip, I found an great trip to DL on expedia for Easter weekend of 2002. We booked on a the Tuesday before Easter and left on that Thursday for a four day visit to DL. One month later we were in WDW. I thought," what a relief, I don't feel the overwhelming need to plan another trip!" Then October rolled around and I felt the need again. MNSSHP seemed to be calling my name. But it wasn't possible to go then. Then I tried Thanksgiving, not possible. Then Christmas? Not possible again. Now I want to go so bad I can taste it. Spring Break? You betcha! Driving with my 5 year old dd from San Antonio as my Dh stays home. He still doesn't want to hear the word Disney.

I guess it's different if you live closer to the magic. We only live two hours away, so we can reasonably drive over for a day, or a weekend, or we can stay for as long as we want. My entire extended family has had APs for several years now, and we just keep renewing!

From reading the above posts, I can see a couple of main differences. First, for me at least, we are in our 40s and childless. (Okay he's got two grown ones that live in another state - whole different story!) I watch parents with strollers and toddlers and think I'd get pretty Disney-ed out after a few of those trips too! Also, I read about being tired. Rarely happens to us. Living this close we take our time, avoid the crowds, hang out at our favorite resorts and just plain relax. If we want the kid experience we grab the four year-old niece and go. My brother and family live in Celebration, so Downtown has become the family hangout when we head there to visit. If we want a romantic trip, the two of us book some time at Wilderness Lodge. If we're going for excitement he and I grab my 70 year-old mom (who's in better shape than the two of us combined!) and do a pin event. When I need to feel like a kid again, we do a Halloween or Christmas party. It has become a yearly event for the entire family to book rooms at the beginning of December and do all the Christmas stuff.

We don't get Disney-ed out, because we do it in so many different ways and for so many different reasons. Doesn't mean we don't travel elsewhere. We just like having this great playground in our backyard.

lindamg,
that's my dream life. To live so close to all that must be wonderful. We were so excited here in San Antonio when Sea World came to town and later when Six Flags Fiesta Texas came. We get passes every year and never tire of those parks. Once about 15 to 20 years ago there were rumors that Disney was going to build a park here. Boo-hoo, only rumors. Well 20 hours away from WDW and I still want to pretend we're only 2 hours away. But not being incredially wealthy I can only pretend.

I don't live close enough to Disney to become "Disney-ed out", but I do understand what you mean.

Slightly different topic:
We buy an annual pass to the zoo one year, then an annual pass to the local museums for just this reason. We go to the zoo 3-4 times in one year, and we get tired of it. Then we go to the museums bunches of times the next year, and we're tired of them. We figure that alternating the years saves us money.

Just got done with our second trip in a year and I'm ready for a break too.

Disney is like crack. You swear you're clean for good after your last hit. You've had enough. You can't take it anymore!

But then it hits you. The sudden, uncontrolable, almost painful need to go back.

You start looking creatively for money. Roll pennies, make a late house payment, figure that the kids can just survive on Ramen noodles and condensed soup and the difference between regular groceries and a cartful of $.20 packs of Ramen and store brand Tofu soup that's on sale can be stashed away.....I GOTTA HAVE MY DISNEY FIX! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness though, I'm very much Disneyed out. I went in January 2002 for the first time in 16 years. I then went back in September. Then again this past January. It was too much.

I could easily spend another 5 days there for my next vacation, but by the 2nd or 3rd day, I'd be ready for something else.

I'd like to go back when some new E-Ticket attraction opens after Mission Space. That should be long enough. :)

We have APs, and find that if we space our trips about 6 months apart everything is new again. When we go too close together (our closest was 2.5 months) it isn't as exciting or happy. I've decided that about 15 WDW days per year is perfect for us.

I've had 6 trips in a years period and one planned for March and another for June. Well now I am thinking maybe some Universal and Sea World time and maybe a cruise. I know it is blasphemy but I am. But never again IOA. Nasty mean castmembers there towards HC people.
