I hate strawberries!

My 17 y/o son dislikes them.

I will tell you that I dislike all the "fake" strawberries that are in the supermarkets this days. You know, when you live on the East Coast and these non-smelling, waxy looking things are shipped in from California--they are just not enjoyable. About the only time I eat them now is when I can get them locally grown or if they are in some sort of dessert.

I grew up on a strawberry farm -- and i know exactly what you mean -- they are big, but pasty and have no flavor -- they are just pumped with water nothing like the real thing.

I also dislike Chocolate in anything other than genuine Swiss milk chocolate.
And i hate cheese on burgers, unless it is 100% genuine real cheddar or Swiss -- that "american cheese" slice is nasty in ANY context..

DH can't stand strawberries, and DS9 developed an allergy to them last year. He swells up like a balloon if he so much as touches them.

I despise chocolate. The only exception to this is ice cream sandwiches. I like the wafers mixed with the vanilla ice cream. Other than that, I can't stand it, never have liked it, never will. Blech. Nasty, nasty stuff.

What are you talking about … living here in CA we have the freshest fruit ever … I just had a large bowl of the freshest strawberries … they were not waxy looking???? :confused3

I think it may be a preservative to help them last a little while while they are shipped that makes them waxy and not as good as fresh. I stopped buying them in the store because a day later they are growing fuzz or every package in the store had fuzz.

I totally get it. I kind of miss the days when certain fruits were still seasonal. You knew you only got strawberries from late May though June (growing season where I grew up) because they were local, freshly picked and delicious. Now, they've developed these new varieties that can be grown in California and shipped other places but they have no flavor and are nothing like fresh local produce.

The best strawberries were the ones just picked off the vine on a sunny morning, shaken to remove any dirt that might be clinging to the berry and popped into your mouth. They were warm from the sun and just burst in your mouth with juicy deliciousness.

I LOOOOVE strawberries.

My mom also does not like cheese on her burgers.

I have a friend who also doesn't like melted cheese but his fave food is pizza :confused3 Might be that whole melted american cheese thing.

I don't like tomatoes (fresh ones) I do eat ketchup, spaghetti sauce, etc. But to just eat a tomato or slice one to put on my sandwich...:scared: But I do love a toasted tomato sandwich in the summer. :confused3 I don't get it myself. LOL

I don't like peanut butter I don't like the smell, the taste, or the texture of it. Blech!! Everyone thinks I'm crazy.

Probably not the same ones they are shipping to the East Coast that are meant to survive for weeks. When you cut them open, they are white inside. You can walk past a whole stand of them and there is no smell.

DH hates strawberries, also raspberries and any other small seeded fruit. The tiny little seeds lodge under his partial plates and cause major discomfort.

Well to all of you having to eat fruit from CA wiith preservatives on them to keep them for weeks … omg … I did not realize that … omg. :sad2:

I guess never even realized that so many fruits were grown here and shipped out. Oh my.

I love strawberries but I hate melon. I do not eat watermelon, honeydew, cantalope, etc....yuck.

I also like HAMburgers however I love cheese. Figure that one out.

So I don't like cheeseburgers or watermelon. I am total un-American.:lmao:

Well, I love strawberries, and I can't eat a burger without cheese (Although, I am with many of you, American cheese is gross :crazy2:. It's fake processed cheese, bleech!)

But I do not like watermelon. YUCK! Crunchy sugar water. No thank you. I don't like honeydew either. Yet, I love cantalope. :confused3

I also hate green peppers. DISGUSTING! And it is very annoying when they are in a dish -- the flavor infuses all over everything. :sad2: Especially pizza.

If I can smell them when I walk by, I stop and maybe buy some. Most of the time, they go bad so fast that its not worth the money to buy.

Glad to know I'm not the only 'food weirdo' out there. ;) The friend who mocked me for not liking strawberries doesn't like peanut butter ... which I just don't understand! But we all have our own quirky likes and dislikes, I guess.

I'm not crazy about most fruit. Hate everything about strawberries and bananas but in most cases it's the texture I don't like, not the flavor. Love orange juice and orange flavored things but if I try to eat an orange, I just gag and have to spit it out. And I'm another one who loves ketchup and tomato sauce but hates tomato. I do like cheesburgers but only with cheddar or swiss. That american cheese stuff is just nasty!

Strawberries, and anything strawberry flavored, is the spawn of the devil. I think we should gather up our pitchforks and torches and eradicate these evil fruit from the face of the earth.

The ones that I buy do NOT have preservatives on them. That would be required on the label. But they are a bred to be sturdy and a have a long shelf-life; hence they are a bit tough and they are white inside when you cut them.

Starting in about May, I can get some decent strawberries as they start coming in from Florida, then Georgia, then the Carolinas and then finally my own local area. The season continues on with berries from New Jersey. Then it stops. So from May through July I get some okay strawberries, after that, no more. Just those *things* that come from California.

You are probably getting a locally grown Strawberry that is not the same as the kind shipped out. I believe the West Coast, in general, has a longer growing season for fruit, so that helps. I remember many years ago I took a business trip to California and went into a local grocery store. I was amazed at how beautiful the fruit was--so much better that what I saw in the east coast markets.

I used to think the same thing when I went to the grocery stores in Florida but I've noticed on my last few trips that I don't see as much quality fruit anymore.

DW hates fresh strawberries, loves strawberry jam, strawberry milk, strawberry pie. Same with peaches and apricots, fresh no, in jam or pie, yes.

She also hates liver, but loves Braunschweiger.

Love strawberries, but cannot stand pizza! I thought my Husband's family, who all live in NJ, were going to die when they found out I don't eat pizza. Coupled with the fact that I have never seen an episode of Seinfeld or The Sopranos, I am the least favorite in-law in the Family!!! :rotfl2:

I can buy them by the box load here in California, but the Florida ones are tasteless to me, even grown in Plant City. So much fruit is shipped from Cali, but it's unripe and tasteless. If you buy fresh from the grower, it tastes so much better because it is picked fresh after it ripen.

I find it funny that eating oranges come from California and O.J. comes from Florida oranges no matter which state you are in.

Tomatoes are another thing I can only eat fresh. Even if they are slightly unripe there's no flavor to them. Romas are also tasteless to me.

My bf hates most fruits, he says they are too sweet. He eats sour apples like granny smith and bananas.
