Okay let me start off by saying I hate this bathroom. It along with the kitchen are the two rooms I really dislike in this house. Lets see the bathroom is made in the shape of an upside down L with a long straight part where the sinks, closets are and then turning right into the room with the tub, comode, shower and linen closet. UUGGHHH I just can't stand it, Okay lets start with the room with the vanity...there are two sinks with three mirrors on the front wall and then two closets on the wall opposite the vanity. There is one closet on the very back wall.
Oh and a small medicine chest mirror that you can see in the first pic,

(There is a cat in that picture  )

Okay now for a picture of the hideous wallpaper! This is only in the first room with the vanity, luckily they never did the room with the tub although someone did make a pull down curtain in there with this print,

Okay now going into the bathroom part with the tub, shower and camode...Here is the wall opposite the tub...these are the plain linen cabinets and the door from the other part (vanity room) opens and hides these...I would love to remove the door separating the rooms and do some kind of color on these doors.

Okay I didn't see a reason to take pics of the actual camode and shower but here is looking back towards them with the camode on the left in the little opening and of course you can see the shower on the right. Its at the back. I was thinking of doing something with maybe a curtain behind the camode on the wall??? I don't know,

I actually dislike the tile work on the flower and up the wall and the shower but that would be way to expensive to try and replace.

Okay now for the tub, my main area. I really want to replace this small tub with something much much bigger...a jacuzzi tub maybe. You can see the window seat thing and the room that is there before the window.

HELP!! SUGGESTIONS!! IDEAS!! ANYTHING!!

All I can say is at least it looks like a big bathroom. That's a plus. We redid our whole bathroom last summer and it was not only the UGLIEST bathroom in the world (think That 70's Show), it's also quite small.

We did replace our old tub with a jacuzzi and it's wonderful. Keep that on your priority list - it's worth it.

They do make lots of really cute Disney borders and wallpaper. Go to one of the bigger wallpaper stores and you can spend hours looking at the books. That might give you some ideas to start off with.

Good luck!:D

Yes, at least it is big! Lucky you!

AS for the wallpaper, remember it is going to be up for a while.. Will you like it 5-10 years down the line?

There are some cute borders out there, and cute colors.

My very first thought was, 'that paper has to go'. It's way too busy. I would pull it off and get a border. Disney would be nice. Since it's only a border, you can change it easily if/when you get tired of it. Then pick up the colors with towels etc. But, man it sure is a nice big bathroom. Oh, and I would go for a jacuzzi tub also. Ahhhhh. What is behind those little jogs in back of the tub? Could you do away with the bottom ledge are and just go back to enlarge the tub area??
I would also get rid of the seperate mirrors and get one big one. It wouldn't look quite so choppy. All this being said, I like your bathroom, except for the wall-paper.

Its actually not really that big...Its narrow....like I said an upside "L" shape. I wish I could knock the wall out and make it one big square room but the room with the vanity backs up to the upstairs hallway so that would take way too much work.

goofy4tink, thats exactly what I was thinking is taking out one or maybe even both of those little ledges behind the tub and enlarge that area and put in a jacuzzi tub....I just don't know what kind of money I'm talking about in the installation part. Lowe's has a wonderful tub for around $900 but then how much am I talking about in installing it???

One big mirror?? I actually hadn't thought about that. I have this picture of Cinderella's Castle that I would love to incorporate into the room. Its a Randy Souders print..he has some more gorgeous ones that I would like to add. I prefer the more whimsy happily ever after pictures of castles etc. There is also that "N" castle in Germany that Beast's castle was modeled after that is gorgeous. I was thinking of painting a light blue maybe?? I dont' know...here is that picture,

That picture is beautiful!

My first thought was of the mirror, too. You need just one big one and you'll have an excuse to take down those "lovely" towel holders from in between. I'm a fan of laying towels on the vanity if its large enough instead of having towel racks for hand towels.

How handy are you? I've ripped down most of the wallpaper that came with our house and I've painted... mostly different techniques like sponging, washing, ragging, etc. In my DS's room, I borrowed the overhead projector from work and I used it to shine Elmo images on the walls. I washed the walls with a medium-toned pastel blue to make it look like the sky, then the Elmo pictures that I chose are primarily sky-type pictures... hot air balloon, kite, airplane, etc. After I traced the pictures on the walls, I painted them with some tempra paints I bought in AC Moore and then went over all of the outlines of the colors with black paint to make them stand out.

You can do the same thing in your bathroom, if you have that type of inclination... then 10 years from now, when you decide you hate it, you can paint over it. Heck, hand-draw the castles or characters, if you are that talented.... I am not.... I can color in the lines and trace. :smooth:

It sounds like you can do the jacuzzi tub if you back up the wall/ledge.

Or, you can write to Surprise By Design or While You Were Out and get some free help with your design. :sunny:

Gee, Beth, I like your bathroom. :)

Anyway, the castle you mentioned in Germany is Neuschwanstein. :teeth:

Ummm...RU I'm not that talented...LOL!! What I would like to do is paint it a sky blue and then """""MAYBE!!!!""""" sponge a white over it to make it look like clouds....any ideas on how to do that? If sponging is the easiest way??? Then hand the pictures of the castles.

I would have never thought of the big mirror but after reading it here it makes perfect sense!!

Okay what are the cons of just painting over the wallpaper? It just seems like it would be so hard to strip it, maybe I'm wrong.

I would like to just take the door off that separates the two rooms and maybe paint the doors on the linen closet different colors?????

The only thing I don't like is the wallpaper, much to bright. I would replace it with cat wallpaper and a cat shower curtain and cat pictures and plaques and a cat soap dispenser, kinda like my bathroom.:p :teeth:

Beauty, I would definatly recommend taking down the wallpaper first. If you decide later, after painting over it, to take it down, it will be an awful job. So, take it off. Then, and this is a biggie, really wash down the walls well. I didn't and my painted walls are all peeling and yucky. Have to be redone. Evidently the wallpaper paste stays on there and the paint doesn't adhere too well. Man, did I ever learn my lesson. I love the castle. I don't think the sponging is too tough. Just paint the base the blue you want and then lightly sponge over it in a white. I think you can even dilute the white a little to make it more opaque. It would look beautiful. And then of course, you could go with some cat stuff. You know, peeking out from behind things!! Just kidding. Don't want catsrule to feel bad tho. 'Cause, cats really do rule, you know.

Beauty I see so much potential to that bath!! Now Im not a big fan of the cloud theme (teh house we are trying to buy has walll to wall cloud wallpaper!!! AGGHH!!!! lool lol :)
I woud definetly take down the wallpaper! I would also not put up a border (please forgive me all that have a border but it is dated!! ) I would paint the wall a lighter color (you could do your light blue) and use a texture paint (you just add it to whatever color paint you like It is great it hides any imperfections in the walls!!). It is easy and gives the walls some character yet is is still simple. I think the Jacuzzi tub sounds wonderful, I agree put up one big mirror. Oh and odnt paint the closet doors they look nice white and that way if in a couple years you want to change the colors of the room you can.
Good luck! :)

LOL! I had a whole plan in my head until I read your second post about wanting a Disney theme. So, I guess it's back to the drawing boards. If you are stuck on Disney though, your best bet would be to choose your border (if you do one) and your accessories, then pull your colors out of that.

For what it's worth, I agree with tnkrbell's suggestions. :D

You know the more I think about it the more I don't really want a Disney theme, I want a Fantasy Theme....here is a picture on ebay that I love!

and this one,

and maybe throw some fairies in there somewhere...ooohhh and a fantasy cat of course!

What does that sound like?
