I Hate how the 7 mos window works.

Wouldn't there still be an issue with this method? You'd only be able to book one day at a time this way?

Yes, when it was this way, you could only book one day at a time. BUT no one else had an opportunity to book the rest of your days before you did. So while it was time consuming, it worked very well to book each day by itself to assure you got what you wanted.

But many people ended up with "holes" in their reservations and sometimes the waitlists did not work. There were often way more people trying to get a particular villa for a particular night that there were villas, so the same person was not guaranteed to get the 2nd or 3rd, etc. nights after getting the first night.

Overall, the current method is more efficient for the system as a whole, because there are fewer reservations with "holes" that end up getting cancelled.

No matter which method is used, there will be some people disappointed. DVC doesn't care which member (or guest) gets a reservation - it just wants all of the villas reserved for all nights of the year.

This is exactly what I was thinking. If you've got 10 rooms available on a certain day, but 12 people trying to reserve those rooms, 2 people are going to be upset.

And how aggravating having to try to go on every day and reserve one night at a time.

You only had to book day by day for certain booking categories at certain times of the year. Most of the time, you just waited until you were 11 months out from your check-out day and called MS once to book the entire stay on one phone call.

wonder how traditional TS work where you buy a particular week - do you always get it or do you have to book before it's taken?

OK so let's say I buy at BWV, what happens when I want to stay at AKL. Do I keep on buying at all the DVC's. I'm sure all you BWV owners have stayed somewhere else. I know by staying outside your home resort there is a penalty, I accept that, but I don't have to like all the rules. If I book at my home resort at the 11 mo window I could still only book 7 plus days and if my first day isn't available, don't I have to still play by the rules and wait until my first day is available? All I was doing is ranting like everyone else does here. If we are allowed to book at the 7 month or 11 month window I just want to be able to wait list that first night and still be able to book the rest of my nights. We are not allowed I get that, but I can still complain if I want to, and not be told over and over to buy there.

I own BWV and have stayed at all WDW DVC's except SSR. Also have stayed at VGC. I'd guess 1/3 of my stays were other than BWV. Recently stayed at BLT on a reservation made at 7 months. Have a 7 month reservation for VGC in August, right before D23. I had a 11 month reservation for BWV for December but recently decided to make it mid November for the end of F & W and beginning of Christmas activities. Nov 10 was already soldout so I booked Nov 11 to 16, boardwalk view studio and waitlisted the 10th. A pool/garden studio became open in the mean time for the 10th, so I booked it and still have the waitlist for boardwalk view. Confirmed F & W ends Nov 11 so I'll have the last 2 days.

It depends. For a fixed week situation you always get it, for floating weeks or points systems, it varies.
