I hate chain restaurants.

And the worst was the non-chain. Disgusting kitchen. The owner got mad and threw plates and mugs and such at people who pissed him off. If you happened to walk in and hear him yelling, you immediately started making sure you weren't in the line of fire. I worked there all of four days. Told him if he wanted me to stay I needed combat pay.

Did you work for Gordon Ramsay? :lovestruc

I always find it funny when people comment that a thread should be dead by now but continue to keep it alive by posting themselves. :)

Well, it's her thread.
Actually I don't think anyone "owns" a thread, OP or not. I was just saying that if she feels it's time for this thread to die, that maybe she should stop bumping it.

Is that the Major Dad / Simon & Simon guy?

In any event, it wasn't him. I don't remember his name. It was something like Gustamanom Longynameopolus. He was called "Gus."
No, he's the Hell's Kitchen / Kitchen Nightmares guy. :thumbsup2

She wasn't the one that said the thread should die. That was Bob.

The OP said that by posting in the "supposed to be dead" thread, the complainers are keeping it alive.

She doesn't "own" the thread, she started the thread, that's why she posts on it, since you asked.

And unless I've missed something, she didn't say anything about wanting it to die.

disneyfav4ever, I don't mean to offend you, but I just wanted to point out the facts

Peace.:hippie:

I thought this thread was dead by now? :confused3 :lmao:

The only thing I can figure is the OP was not around for a few days. :confused3

As for chains the main reason we eat at one when we travel is because our travel $ is precious (have to save it for WDW!!) and when we do a chain like Chilli's Uno or Olive Garden we know our kids will have something to eat. DH and I while traveling alone are MUCH more adventurous.

As an aside, has anyone seen that commercial for , I think, Visa where the couple goes to the fancy schmancy restaurant and the food is tiny? Then they hit the convenience mart. DH and I have done that--not because of tiny portions but because of icky food.

I'm really not understanding the reaction to the thread still being alive either. I posted on the 8th and then today on the 10th. I missed one day! People are going on like I drudged it back up from last November.

I have had the small food experience from the advertisement. We enjoy fine dining and know what to expect but we once went to this fine dining wannabe restaurant. The food actually was pretty mediocre but they served it in classic teeny tiny portions and charged $100 a head for three of these teeny tiny mediocre courses. I think my dessert consisted of two chocolate dipped strawberries. (And the chocolate tasted like an Aero bar.)

I love that commercial! Cracks me up every time!

I like going out to eat. I do not prefer fine dining, teeny tiny portions as it always taste horrible. I'd rather be up to my elbows in a seafood boil or BBQ. Now that's good eating!

I agree with the boil and BBQ! But fine dining can be awesome. Most people think fine dining means tiny unpronouncable food served by snotty servers. That's normally not the case. If you find yourself in a place like that, get out while you can!

I guess not all chains are created equal - you just described the Ruby Tuesday here...

If any of the mom and pop restaurants around here didn't suck to high heaven, then I woul dbe happy to go there. However, they are all smokey, scarey, greasy dives that you couldn't PAY ME to eat at, so we enjoy Chili's, Ruby Tuesday, Logan's, and Red Robin.
