She looked at me as if I'd suddenly grown two heads!LOL She said she just couldn't see spending that much money for going on vacations. (Her and her husband probably make quadruple my salary, but they're house poor.) Anyway, I brought up the fact that I spent about the same as they paid for thier camper, but my DVC luxury accomodations would last until 2042 and I didn't think thier camper would last that long. She said, yes, but we can use the camper several times a year if we want. I said I can use my DVC several times a year if I want and will. Thier camper gets used once a year. At last, she didn't have anything else to come back on so she said, "Well, we always stay with my parents when we go to Florida....and that's free."

I kinda felt proud of myself.;)

JM-sounds like you are setting yourself up for some resentment.

Congrats on your new purchase, and you should be proud! You are in great company!

Hopefully you are still employed by the end of the day!

LOL! I said those things nicely, but it was great. If you knew how she was, you'd understand.

Some people just dont understand.....

It's been said before, but it's worth saying again:

For those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don't understand, no explanation will do.

;)

Yikes! I don't know if I'd be antogonizing the person who writes my reviews and determines what percentage increase I get in my salary each year!

But congratulations all the same. Bosses come and go. DVC lasts till 2042!:)

When I came back and told my boss she said "It's about time, you've been there enough!":)

She said it in a good way though. In fact she's in Orlando (Portofino at US and IOA) right now!!!!!!

Usually when you tell employers something like that, they begin thinking they are paying you too much.;)

At least you have all of us who understand.:D I sent you a pm.

good for you Jenifer! Why would anyone think that would antagonize anyone? You were just having a friendly discussion.

ANd a DVC memebrship is similar to a camper. BUt oh SOOOO much better accommodations ;)

Where do you work now? Is your new boss better than the previous one you are describing above?
:smooth:

ROTFLOL!

I love the feeling I get when I tell one of the "un-informed" about DVC...It's like a grown-up "NYAH, NYAH, NYAH!!!":p :p :p

Too funny!!! I love it! When I worked, I worked with some people who felt that everything I did in my private life was up for discussion, and their favorite thing to discuss was how we could "afford" to go to Disney as often as we did. It got to the point where I was afraid to mention our next trip. Can you believe that? It is nobody's business how often I choose to go to Disney, or how much it is costing me, whether or NOT I can afford it.

Now that I am out of work on disablility retirement, I am scared to death that the "busy-bodies" will find out we purchased the DVC. Oh, I can hear them now!!!

I am so gald you put your boss on the spot...did it feel good? LOL

Marie

Jennymouse sounds like you won the debate. Having been in politics for 20 years I love debating and the challenge of successfully making your point. You did! Congrats!!;)

You guys are a hoot. But, really, I think in giving you the "condensed version" of how the conversation went, it sounded worse than the conversation actually went. I didn't force her to eat her words, just gently spoonfed them to her.LOL

I think you're overestimating human nature these days. There are people who will resent you if you tell them you found a quarter on the ground. Some people are very competitive.
