I just got back from a 4 day Wonder cruise, where we (my DH and our best friends) had dinner two nights with George and Nancy, DVC guides who were working DVC sales during the cruise.
Althought I didn't get any good DVC gossip, we enjoyed their company. It was funny to watch them try to give the DVC sale pitch to our freind Keith, who thinks a good vacation is one where he spends no money, much less pay in advance! :goodvibes love ya Keith!

They just had no clue how little he does vacation, and how cheap he goes.... if not for his wife, I don't think he would have agreed to spend $$ for a cruise.
George gave me a basket of DVC goodies, but I had plans and didn't make to to the DVC member get-together.
Nancy works out of the SSR sales office, I 'm not sure where George works.
I just hope we didn't ruin their appetites! :rolleyes1

Are there DVC member get-togethers on all cruises? Or just if they happen to be arranged by members?

On the 4 day and 7 day cruises there are DVC member get togethers that are arranged by the DVC giudes. You get a note in your stateroom inviting you to attend. We also got a large "Welcome home member" magnet on our stateroom door. I was told we were supposed to have a bag with lanyards in our cabin but we did not...the reason George put together a bag for me.
At the member meetings they go over what's new at DVC and you can win door prizes.

I'm guessing that you would only get notified of these meets if you booked on points, right? We're booked, but paying cash, so I wouldn't expect them to even know we were on board. I wonder if these meets are posted somewhere so that those of us "cash" cruising DVC members could attend.

Anyone know?

Thanks,
Lissa

I paid cash for our cruise, so I don't know how they knew we were DVC...I guess we are so noted in the DCL records or something.

It's posted in the Navigator.

If you are travelling on the Wonder, definately go! There are less people and a greater chance of winning prizes!

In March, I finally was able to get the DVC Tote Plus also won the DVC Beach Towel! The only problem, I am too afraid to use the towel 'cause they have been known to go missing!LOL

We went on our Feb 2005 Magic cruise and couldn't stay for the whole presentation (couples massage to do) but got mousepads, lanyards, and the red baseball cap just for showing up. We paid for the cruise with cash, but were told about the meeting from one of the DVC guides on boards. I'll try to keep the time free next time for the raffles.
