I had planned on sleeping late - that didn;t happen, Barney wouldn't let it.

I had planned on relaxing, taking Barney to the park since it's a beautiful day.

I was on my way into the shower when I hear Chris screaming that there's a whole bunch of water in the basement. A hose broke on the washing machine.

Spent the last 2 hours trying to get up water from all over - throwing some things out... So there's still a bunch of water down there - I have al the rags in teh dryer, the garage door open.. So we can't leave the house with that door open. So I'm here while Chris will be going to **** Depot to get a new hose!

I guess it's not going to be such a peaceful day after all. :sad2:

UGH that stinks!

That happend to us a few months back, and I got in a heap of trouble over it!

Seems I let some loose change get into the washer, and it clogged up some sort of pump!

Shrek was pissed! Lets just say, the coins were not enough to cover the cost of a new pump! :rotfl2:

Doesn't - Batting your eyes, doing a little pout and say "Oh Shreky-Poo" work to get you out of things? ::yes::

there's usually a limit to what my pouty eyes will get me LOL.

Tony,
Speaking from experience ( I used to be a Project Manager with a Disaster Recovery Firm, and I am certified in water damage remediation) is your basement finished with carpeting, drywall, paneling, or baseboard molding? How much standing water was there?

If it is really wet, and you lost anything of value, call your insurance agent. Many situation like this are covered under your homeowners policy.

Get it as dry as you can by using towels or a shop vac, then get air circulation going. Set up whaterver type of fans you have. and aim them towards the area of the water.

If you have a carpet, raise it, if there is padding remove it (carpet is sometimes saveable, padding is never saved).

Keep the lights ON in your basement. Mold/Mildew prefer to grow in the dark.

Clean with an antimicrobial agent. (Mr. Clean and some others work fine for home use) or if it is an unfinished floor/walls use a bleach solution.

For the replacement hose, buy an anti-burst one. They cost more, but are well worth it

OK, thats it for my fast off the cuff response. PM me if you need anything.

HMMMMMM, both Tony and Chris are distracted....:drive: I can drive through the neighborhood calling for Barney....he's so cute how can I not want to doggie nap him. Kidding, I never really would.

Tiggr33 is right. Your insurance company will pay for your items that were damaged and beyond repair. They won't pay for the hose but everything is covered minus your deductible. Hope your day gets better

From what I remember, I think I had to shell out for a steak dinner that night!:thumbsup2

A homemade banana cream pie works too! :thumbsup2

Must resist urge to post my first response.

But to quickly answer your question, lets see, I'm a stained glass artisan, an award winning photographer, I'm a foodie (cooking and eating), currently working on becoming a cheesemaker (and I must say, my homemade Ricotta kicks butt!!!).

:lmao: I knew I liked you! :rotfl2:

You, like my partner, are a woman of many talents. I like that in a girl. :thumbsup2

Sorry, I didnt hear the super sleuths alarm. Glad to hear it is drying up. Resist the urge to turn up the heat (if the basement is heated). Seems like your doing all the right things.

I haven't been outside yet. Lazy Sunday, still in our jammies, were busy planning our 5th anniversary. We decided to treat one another to dinner at Victoria and Alberts.

Excellent choice! I am trying to decide if I want to surprise Corey with that for our 10th later this year. I hate to dress up. She's ok with it. I am not sure that either of us are up to the "stuffy & proper" atmosphere. I would hate for us to walk in and it being like the Clampett's invaded V&A. :lmao:

when are you guys headed to WDW Stacey?

We went to the park but left quickly - not sure whet the heck I was thinking - it was like a mud bath.

The basement is drying up nicely - the door is still open and we have the dehumidifier still going...

Now we're plannig dinner. I'm roasting a whole Filet Mignon. - Since your a foodie, Stacey, do you have any suggestions?

We haven't decided when we are going. I have to go before May, as I am preparing to give a lecture on Disney Photography - it's more then Mickey Mouse. Cayla has spring break in early April - between work and school she has no time. I am also waiting for a bonus check to determine how much extra $$ I'll have to play with.

I like my beef simple, I like to taste the meat, so I tend not to marinate filets/loins. I'd make a dry rub of chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, no salt seasoning (Mrs. Dash or generic) and spread it over the loin. Then I would sear it off, and then into the oven to cook to the temparature of choice.

But my favorite way to prepare a beef filet is with a rub from Kueka Coffee Roasters. Their Shanghai Six Spice is to die for.

I wish I saw this with the coffee rub! I have a dry rub of Garlic and fresh ground pepper, lemon pepper and parsley. I preheated the oven to 500 then when I put the filet in I turned doen the temp to 225. It's not done yet - probably about another 15 minutes or so. It's a small one.

The coffee rub looks yummy! If Chris didn't want this today I would have grilled burgers! I did grill Barney a steak cause I had to reorganize the freezer and figured he'd get a treat tonight. :rotfl:
