I had a missed miscarriage, 4 months later the GP thinks i have retained the baby :(

Best wishes and good luck for tomorrow:hug: What an awful, long drawn out experience.
I am fortunate that I have never had a miscarriage, although I was told by my GP when I was pregnant the first time that I shouldn't go around telling everybody yet as first pregnancies often ended in miscarriage :scared1: you can imagine how that makes a woman feel who is elated that she is pregnant.
That was bad enough for me, I can't imagine what you are going through.
I have two healthy girls but I can't have anymore. I had C-sections with both my girls and the second time around my baby girl suffered a bad cut to her head when the incision was made, my uterus was so thin. I had wanted a natural birth, I am lucky the docs got their way, it could have gone horribly wrong for both of us. I overheard the theatre midwives discussing my situation in recovery.
When the consultant came a few days later to check me over to be discharged he told me in such a matter of fact way that I wouldn't be able to have any more children, I was alone with my baby, he didn't even bring a nurse or midwife with him when he told me and he didn't wait for my DH to be present either. In fact, I don't even think he looked up from my notes and made eye contact.
I think it's such a shame that there are so many doctors out there that just seem to be going through the motions, particularly when it's connected to obs/gyn - I know the NHS is stretched but I worked for it for twelve years and I know there are some very good doctors out there.
Thinking of you tomorrow:hug:
Sorry to hear other DIS friends sad experiences like this too. Hugs to you all.

I am very sorry to hear that and cant believe you have not recieved help from your GP that is very upsetting I hope it goes ok for you and you start feeling better in yourself and the situation

x x x PIXIE DUST your way x x x

So sorry to hear what has happened to you:hug:

I am so sorry this has happened - I have no experience I can offer you but feel free to vent away! There are so many nice people on here

I'm so sorry for what you are going through,:hug: I hope everything goes well tomorrow.:grouphug:

OMG i can't believe in this day and age they are making you go through this, i can't imagine what you are going through. My friend suffered a placenta abruption at almost 9 months and unfortunately her baby boy died i know they tried to get her to carry on for a few weeks and give birth naturally how cruel can they be. It was only after her husband threatened them they did a c section. I hope every thing goes ok for you tomorrow :hug:

I will wait and see what happens tomorrow but i have copied all my paperwork stating that the doctor believes i have "retained products". Made a note of all visits to the doctor and what had been said.
Luckily i have private medical cover but still have an £100 excess but what if this happened to someone who was not as fortunate as myself who couldnt afford private health care. I think its disgusting, vent over, lol. I need to laugh or ill cry!

Thanks everyone, i will keep you updated xxx

I'm so sorry you've had to go through this :grouphug:

So sorry to hear this Aimee good luck for today we are all thinking of you :grouphug::grouphug:

I am so sorry to hear what you are going though

I think it's disgusting that you have to wait that long to get it sorted! surely it isn't legal to leave it that long, it can't be healthy!!!
Honestly! The way that these people just brush women aside when they are suffering not only physically but mentally too!! :mad:it sucks balls!

Sorry for the rant!! I truely feel for you.

That's awful Amiee I would definately look at reporting this as my SIL had a misscarrige 2 months ago she was only 12 wks pregnant and they scanned her 3 times along with blood tests over a course of 2 wks. I hope today goes ok for you. x

Thank you all, its been really nice to vent my emotions knowing that my feelings wont upset anyone else.

Went to the doctors this morning, they did bloods and swabs. Not nice as it bought the bleeding and pains on again :scared1:

I then went to the private hospital for a scan. What a different experience, whilst i was nervous they were lovely, really understanding, reassuring, asked lots of questions. They could not make sense of what has gone on since my miscarriage in December and she looked more confused than me!

I had an ultra sound and an internal probe which found that i had retained products from the miscarriage. She didn't say much more as they needed to have a detailed look at the images and compile a report. My GP is going to contact me with appropriate action as to what needs to happen next.
Its looks as though i may need a D and C.

Not a nice experience for anyone but at least i know for sure whats been happening and it concludes why i have been feeling the way i have for so long. I wish i had this option at the time of the miscarriage not 4 months down the line but theres no point sulking i cant undo the past.

Thank you again for your support and sharing your experiences

good to hear things went OK today

least now things will get done
