I Had a Hysterectomy on Monday.

OP, you probably have an allergy to the sticky substance in the steri-strips. I had the same thing. I put cortizone ointment on them. It helped. You might want to call your doctor and ask for suggestions.

I agree with the others about the books. A rolling backpack sounds like the best idea.

As for steps, I climbed steps from the first day I got home. They tell you to avoid steps because they don't want you to over do it. Just limit your trips up and down each day for a few days.

I didn't take anything other than regular old Advil once I left the hospital. It is actually best to stop the paid meds as soon as you can.

Do take it easy. Be especially careful taking laundry out of the washing machine. You can hurt yourself doing this.

Feel better soon!

 I really have no advice but just wanted to commend you and wish you a speedy recovery. I'm glad your able to discuss both your procedure and how its affecting you. I feel like as women we keep so much of whats going on tucked in and almost secret. I'm also glad there are others here who can both answer questions for you and be supportive. Best wishes on a speedy recovery and congrats on going back to school.

I had the same type. I had no issues, little pain. Since I had level 5 endio....I was so used to major cramps that I thought the incision felt better!

I did not change my life style as I did not need to. I was put off work for 6 weeks and I had no pain. I am not lying, when I woke up, I thought something happened and they didn't do it. Begged to leave hospital next day (I was supposed to stay 2 nights), shopped at target on the way home. Called a few days later and asked if I could go back to work, they said no, so....I did what every other dis'er of sound mine does, I went to WDW.

Good luck....I wish you can have it as easy as I did. Also, I have no menapausal symptoms, I do not take the hormones. I do take a calcium/vitamin D supplement.....that's it.

Hope you feel better!

Wow! I'm glad it went so well for you! I am doing pretty good. Better than my aunt who had the exact same thing done last October. I'm pretty sure I won't need to take hormones, since my ovaries are still intact. I'm hoping the menopause symptoms stay away!! ;)

Oy!*headsmack* That nurse was an idiot. Don't you EVER let someone do that again.

Yes, I learned my lesson - the hard way. :headache:

I did call the doctor and was told to use cortizone. It seems to be helping a bit. I am keeping it off the incisions, but am using it on the rash and around the incisions. I am getting some relief from the itching. ;)

I think I will need to look into a rolling backpack. I really like my other one, but not sure it's going to be what I need once I start, again, in January. I will definitely take it easy with the laundry. I am short, so it is already hard for me to get laundry out of the washer. Thankfully, I have a 15 year old son who rolls his eyes at me when I ask for help, but he gets it done! :rolleyes1

Thank you!!

Thank you very much!! I agree, we do tend to keep all of this inside. My sister-in-law had a hysterectomy last March and she just told us a few months ago. We don't have the greatest relationship. She doesn't know about mine yet. I would love to talk to her about it, but she is pretty much wrapped up in her new boyfriend. Thankfully, I have an aunt who went through the exact same procedure last October and has been very supportive. My husband doesn't know exactly what I'm going through, of course ;), but he has also been a great support to me.

Thank you to all of you, again! I appreciate it!
