I had a BLT for Thanksgiving with a little Holiday & Birthday Cheer:NEW END & new PTR

I LOVE all of the pictures you took during your trip!!
Your pictures of BLT were amazing. I hope to stay there someday!
Loved the pictures of your girls in their Belle outfits :goodvibes

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the MK montage! What great memories! :thumbsup2

Hope you are digging out of all that snow! We were forecasted to get hit too, but the storm went JUST north and we ended up with only 6-8 inches. My boys got a snow day out of it, so they were thrilled! ;)

thanks Missy yes we are dug out...now dealing w/ below zero temps and wind chill, the weather people say we havn't had this huge of a snow pack this late into the Winter in a long time...man is Spring really on the way?

Food, food and more of the ever tasty WDW food….

I have given my reviews of just about all the TS places we ate it (w/ the exception of Tuttio Italia that will coming up in my EPIC Epcot report)…but let’s take a look at many of the CS places we visited during our 10 days….

We ate at (in no particular order):

Everything POP food court (lunch/dinner)

FTBBQ (lunch)

CHH (dinner)

PVH (lunch)

Contempo Café in CR (2 dinners)

EOS (dinner just Matt and I)

Electric Umbrella (dinner)

Sunshine Seasons (dinner)

Liberty Inn (US pavilion) (lunch)

Studio Catering Co. (DHS) (lunch)

Main Street Ice Cream Parlor (treat)

MSB (snack-lunch treat)

Also got some snacks in Germany-pretzels and caramel yummy treat from the new Karmel Kitchen. Plus some snack treats from Norway’s bakery and back at MK we got Dole whips and floats.

As a family we certainly have our family favorites but I always like to try new places too… the CS places in GREEN were new for our family this trip (although Matt and I had eaten at a couple on previous before kids trips).

As well during the trip Nathan filled out some Food Critic cards for several of the places we ate at.

Here are my notes about each place we ate at after we returned home and as applicable I have included Nathan’s notes and some pictures too…so bon appetite!

POP-lunch for all:

This was a good starting out meal, but I quickly learned it was going to be a huge challenge to feed Naomi-Ruth on this trip.

I’m sure there was food to order, but getting it was not easy IMHO or readily knowledge of how to go about it and being 4 (age) well picky is it…for the most part I ended up just bringing her own sunbutter sandwiches from the room into the parks when we were dining CS and at TS places it was a piece of cake. I know as she get’s older we’ll have to venture out and get her some other foods. But for this time it worked. Call me chicken, but since I knew I had the stand-by (food) and the food lines were usually long, it just wasn’t worth it. I’d order a kids meal, give her the sides and the other kids would eat the main portion, as well her extra credits which we paid for (DDP)and didn't use turned into extra CS meals for us and a ton of converted snack credits and my hoard of Mickey Rice Krispie treats I brought home.:rolleyes1

The next trip we do we probably won’t dine at TS places, so we’ll just have to see how it goes then….

Back to POP…

100_7084-1.jpg

So here are a few meals…Ceaser salad for Matt which I noted was made fresh nice touch! Turkey cibatta sandwich for me (FYI don’t recall olives on this like the one KathyRN ordered at Mara –AKL on our Jan trip) plus 3 kid meals: 1 hot dog meal (pictured-Nathan), pizza –Bekah and pasta-Rachel and sides plus I paid for one extra applesauce for NR. I made a note of the total being just over $38.00 right about where I budgeted this OOP meal.

POP for dinner for kids only:

we got food for the kids and brought it back to the room, a couple kid pizza meals & B wasn’t hungry so she had some cereal w/ milk. I must have brought something back for NR too, but I don’t remember. I also got a couple bananas. That came to just under $20 for OOP

Next Day 2)

We dined at CRT for lunch here is the post if you wish to re-read:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39509266&postcount=173

I also have a few more food pix for you

So the majority of us ordered the Braised Cobia-fish offering that came w/ a side of angle hair pasta w/ veggies. We all thought it was quite good! R had a child pasta meal and the twins had angel hair pasta w/ sauce on the side…not on menu but still could do.

100_7199-1.jpg

Dessert most of us got berry sorbet

100_7212-1.jpg

Which was tasty, a little too cold though I couldn’t finish it too sweet.

Matt got some funky chocolate work of art:

100_7211.jpg

Nathan scored his entre as 4 out of 5 Mickey heads and his dessert the sorbet as 1 out of 5 Mickey Heads. He felt the restaurant was Jaq & Gus-Quiet and he did like it because it had good food.

And one last pix of NR and her meal (allergy free chicken tenderloins and fries):

100_7203-1.jpg

For Dinner we ate at Sunshine Seasons in the Land at EP as planned:

this was a bit crazy, but appreciated the huge picture menu to the side that everyone could look at first and then sit down, while I went to get food. I didn’t quite see anything I thought would work for NR and what I ended up getting she didn’t want so I ate it. Rachel had soup which was a SC but she really enjoyed it. Bekah helped me w/ the trays which she would do several more times.

Here is Nathan’s review:
Name of Restaurant: Season Location The Land Time of Day: Night
Type of Meal : D
Entrée Ordered: chicken (he got an adult meal chicken plate)
He gave it 4 out of 5 Mickey Heads
Dessert Ordered: chocolate Moose cake
He gave it 5 out of 5 Mickey heads
Length of wait for food: long time….it did take me quite awhile to go to all the different stations get food, get drinks, and desserts plus pay.
Noise factor Sheriff Woody-Noisy
Theme: cultures
I liked because very good desserts

Here is a picture of Nathan filling out his Food Critic Card and one of NR w/ her dinner a jello cup…oh what a good Mommy I am….

For Day 3)

Lunch at FTBBQ at AK:

we ate toward the back/lower area w/ the gardens, etc. Matt and his dad got all our food this time, after I took a pix of the menu w/ my camera-clever huh?

100_7312.jpg

They needed a CM to help carry a 3rd tray too. Several of us had the pulled pork sandwiches which are always good. Plus we ordered some sides of onion rings which are no longer SC on the DDP. The twins got fruit plates. Nathan loved his; here is a pix of his demolished plate:

100_7313.jpg

His review of FTBBQ when something like this:
Time of day 1:00 pm
Gave his entrée 3 out of 5 Mickey heads
Dessert ordered key lime pie in a glass and gave that 5 out of 5 Mickey Heads can you tell what he likes?
It was Jaq & Gus-Quiet Theme Africa and he liked it because it had good fruit.

Dinner was CHH at MK:

we ate very late for dinner and even at almost 7 pm the lines were still very long…maybe due to EMH night? We sat upstairs and at first had a room to ourselves:

100_7364.jpg

I enjoyed my tuna sandwich and had fun talking w/other guests about LINES (giving them tips) and going on rides…they wanted to know how I had my inside info

MSICP-

for a late night dessert while waiting for the MSEP to begin (we sat on MS) Matt and Bekah got us each a root beer float they were quite yummy, good use of a SC too. NR had a tofuti version, but didn’t care for it, think it was more the pop than the “ice cream”

UP next more FOOD: Days 4-6

Thanks for reading as always,

J~

Great...now I have to go scour my cupboards for some food! ;)

Loving Nathan's reviews! It's so fun to see a kid's perspective.

Thanks for posting the pix of the fruit plate (even thou it was eaten) --- I was thinking of getting this for the kids in a couple weeks, but now I don't think so.

Loving the food report! :lovestruc Especially Nathan's reviews. I think I might have my girls do something similar on our June trip. Don't think Daniel would be interested in filling out the card but who knows maybe he'll surprise me!

Love Nathan's reports! :thumbsup2 The noise factors are interesting to me too... it's not anything we've had to consider before but such valuable information for those that do.

Looking forward to more popcorn::

I hope it's because you don't think the kids would eat not that I spolied your appetite

I almost didn't recoginze you you changed your avatar  and I love it!

yes the noise factor is quite important to our kids huh?

I hope it's because you don't think the kids would eat not that I spolied your appetite

No spoiled appetite lol. That had a lot of melons on it and it would take me 10 minutes to cut up all that fruit! Maybe I'll bring a couple of fruit cups with me and save $7.

Did any of your kids get the kids nuggets? Are they like McDonald's nuggets? Oh wait I can ask so of our mom friends....I seem to remember someone getting them in Jan.

:thumbsup2 that is what I would do!

:rotfl: saw your question in our FB group too...but on my end yes we have had the nuggets over many trips I have eaten a few...if my memory serves me correctly they are not all the same everywhere...or that could have changed...I'd say no NOT like McD's

Rachel says she likes them sort of and they are not like McD's

Bekah says they are OK but doesn't like the ones at Cosmic Ray's didn't taste good.

Hope that helps

Nathan's restaurant reviews are great!
I had no idea FTBBQ had a fruit plate. I definitely have to put that in my planning notes.

I answered on the FB group too but I got mine in at least two different places that I can remember in Jan:

CHH -- YUM!! Got them twice with the chicken/fish basket - delish!
ABC Commissory -- Not as good as CHH but still tasty and would get them again.

I forgot about that giant fruit platter at FTBBQ - I had ordered it for Zach one year, expecting a little fruit cup. He LOVES fruit so I'll have to remember to order that for him & bring a ziploc bag for the leftovers. :thumbsup2

I just sent you an email to beg for the Food Critic Cards you made for Nathan. I think my boys would have fun filling those out... at the very least it could give them something to do while we eat
.

Day 4)

Lunch at Studio Catering co.

So I have wanted to eat here for the past couple trips and thought the location was ideal tucked away and near the HISTK playset, plus I like the new menu listed on Allears. Unfortunately we attempted to eat here during prime time and it was PACKED. At first I thought there was no seating, but we found some down out of the main area closer to the restrooms/gift shop area. I was not overly thrilled w/ our food but I still think it is a good location.

Matt and his dad had the Buffalo chicken but as reported on Allears it is not very “buffalo-y” I had one of pressed sandwiches:

100_7540.jpg

The twins each had similar meals. This was day I realized how much I regretted bringing a freezer pack for NR food from home. I figured it would have worked great…I had bought bologna from Garden Grocer but could never pack it for the parks cause I couldn’t keep it cold. Oh well.

Dinner was at HDDR this night here is the post about that if you want to read again:

Day 5)

Breakfast was at 1900 PF you can read about that meal again here:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39549604&postcount=190

Snacks at MSB:

For a lunch snack we grabbed a bunch of pastries to go (to eat back at the villa) from here. I can’t remember what Matt all picked out for us, but seriously anything from there is GREAT!

Dinner at Contempo Café:

We ate here for a very late dinner after getting back from the Studios this night. Matt took the kids back to our room and I walked over to the restaurant and brought our orders back to the room. I had checked the menu online off my phone first from Allears (very handy) to help everyone decide. They make it very convenient to bring things back to your room whether in CR or at BLT. They have large paper to go bags available and they wrapped up everything in to go containers. Rachel ordered a huge plate of pasta (actually an adult meal) and they double wrapped it up for me w/ plastic wrap. This was the night I had my turkey BLT sandwich for the first time. Now I had all our food in the bag and 3 drinks they I carried in my hands…it wasn’t until later in the trip that we ate here again that I noticed the drink carriers…duh that would have been helpful. Good thing someone was coming out of the bridge from BLT into CR when I was going the other way, cause I didn’t have a free hand to swipe my room key.
This was a very successful meal!

Day 6)

Lunch at Tutto Italia (TS in Italy EP WS):

I’ll give you the full review now w/ pix instead of waiting till the EPCOT EPIC post…

Our first eating experience eating at a TS in WS was definitely a good one. The meal & place was so fancy, it was very well done. You did feel a little underdressed and sometimes silly when trying to order things. But the staff is very friendly and efficient. Impressive indeed. Anything they brought to the table was on a tray w/ a cloth over it. Like when one of the kids dropped a untensil, a new one was delieverd on a tray. So what was the tab? …if I remember correctly for the 6 of us, entrees, desserts and non alcoholic drinks plus grat/tip it came to just over $200…wow good thing we were on the DDP, huh? ;)

We all enjoyed ourselves. Our table was right inside the restaurant immediately to the left near the windows, and Ok location, but it would have been nice to be further in the restaurant. We were almost 30 min late to our ADR but it was a non issue in comparison to when we were late to WCC on T-giving.

I didn’t take many pix in here but here is a small (sorry blurry) tree near the check-in area:

100_7762.jpg

Rachel resting right inside the restaurant:

100_7761.jpg

What we ordered:

NR really enjoyed her rice pasta and rice bread/rolls they brought out for her.

100_7772.jpg

But the hit was the fruit cup she had first…

100_7769.jpg

She looked pretty cute trying to eat this. FYI note to self and others when kiddos under 5 most TS places don’t have child size utensils…if you need them bring your own.

I ordered the gnocchi (sorry my pic is blurry) a few Lactaid tablets before eating made this very yummy,it is a light cheese filled pasta, it was very good!

100_7771.jpg

Nathan had plain spaghetti w/ sauce on the side and some big meatballs. He ate quite well as most of the portions were quite generous.

100_7770.jpg

I don’t have written down what the other girls and Matt ordered but I know we all enjoyed our food, here is Rachel at our table:

100_7766.jpg

The desserts were quite fancy too: I can’t remember what these were called but they were yummy:

100_7777.jpg

100_7775.jpg

100_7776.jpg

We definitely would like to eat here again! :thumbsup2

One other story from this meal was I had taken NR to the washroom at the start of the meal and toward the end she needed to go I said she needed to wait a minute but before I knew she had darted off (since she knew where it was) when I got over there a lady was walking out and I said “did a small girl just go in?” and she just smiled at me…sure enough she made it the right room.

Now unfortunately we finished off our day after having one of the better meals of our trip w/ the worst. We were tired and deciding what to do next, more rides, leave, or stay for Illuminations, we knew either way we needed to eat, so thought let’s just eat now and come up w/ our plan afterwards. We were right by Electric Umbrella so that’s where we went.

EU for dinner:

This was our bomb meal of the trip-why did we eat here? No one really finished anything, it was either bland or overcooked, I don’t know just ick. We have dined here once before and I recall it being OK then, oh well. I got something that was called a bacon cheeseburger…and Nathan, plus I think Bekah had meatball subs:

100_7833.jpg

The other bad thing about this meal was this very scary Dad screaming at the top of his lungs at his son and then this kid just stormed off and left the restaurant, the girl at the table was just laughing, I don’t know if the Dad could see his kid but he waited quite awhile before going off after him. Matt thinks the kid was provoking it…but still. Believe me I am no saint and have yelled at my kids, yes even at Disney…but surely w/out such a horrid display.

Day 7)

Breakfast was at Chef Mickey’s and Dinner was at WCC I talked about both in this post:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39275777&postcount=100

Lunch we just had some snacks at the pool and in the villa

Up next More Food Days 8-10:

Thanks for reading

J~

Great Disney food reviews.
Tutto looks so good. NR's fruit cup is huge!
We found EU to be a bit ick as well. The wait was forever because the CM didn't understand how to use the DDP. And the food was unremarkable.

Day 8)

Lunch at PVH:

This was fun to eat at and the kids have never been here before and we lucked out w/ the IASW tables. (FYI I hear conflicting stories of people’s experience trying to get these windows we saved a spot and then got food, while Diser Marsha had to get her food first before getting tables here)
We mostly all got the pizza/salad combos and I actually the enjoyed it. Yum Ranch dressing…and the drinks here are HUGE!

100_7965.jpg

Matt’s salad:

100_7968.jpg

Rachel got a kid mac and cheese or maybe we ordered this for NR for the sides? Don’t remember but I have this pix from here:confused3

100_7966.jpg

Dinner at Contempo Café:

This was our 2nd time eating here and good thing we like this place being our “home” resort CS choice…we ate in the restaurant this time and some of us got the same things as the first time (me turkey BLT, R-pasta) Matt had a French dip of sorts sandwich and he and the twins tried the HUGE cupcakes they had for dessert. But they are so big and rich we could barely finish them.
Here is a pix of that very tasty Turkey BLT:

100_7741.jpg

Day 9)

Lunch was at Liberty Inn in US Pavilion:

I think the food is pretty good here and always seems fast even w/ gigantic lines inside…always veer to the left..We ate outside for this meal which was nice and cool today, NR took a nap in her stroller. I can’t remember what we all had to eat here. But Matt and I had the pulled pork and Nathan had a HUGE adult portion cheeseburger, you can see I snapped a shot after he started eating and he finish that bad boy…it was good he said and announce he likes the Adult options better than the kid ones.

100_8087.jpg

Rachel also had a chili cup which was a SC on the DDP. I ordered a kid CS meal for some sides and a drink for her.

Not sure where these two pix of Naomi-Ruth eating fall into the day order…but they are both at EP. One at Norway:

IMG_2288.jpg

And this was her waiting w/ Daddy I believe on Day 9) while the other kids and I went on TT:

IMG_2287-1.jpg

I don’t have notes written down for dinner on Day 9) so  but I know we had some popcorn & cream cheese filled pretzel while standing in line for the Candlelight Processional.

Day 10)

This was our departure day and we didn’t go to any parks, so we ate breakfast in the villa like most mornings and I used the majority of the leftover bread that I bought and never used to make up several PB & J sandwiches which we later ate the airport before heading home.

Well that is it…one glorious food report…hope you didn’t gain any pounds while reading it.

Coming up NEXT: the Epic EPCOT post…
Thanks for reading,

J~

thanks again Jennifer...yes the kids (3-9 age range) got a app w/ their meal on the reg DDP and both NR and rachel got this. it was nice.

well glad I am not the only one who thought that too...

PVH is one of our favorite CS places in MK!
And I agree with you about the Contempo Cafe. We liked the food. And those cupcakes are so big! It's definitely a cupcake for two.

You had such great dining experiences, and that's not easy when someone has as food allergy.
