As I know everybody else knows, VMK is obviously closing. I really don't know how to react to this. Here's my little story :P

I started VMK in September 2005 (Just a few months after beta). I found this game as a replacement for the parks, as I have a very big family and have not gone/won't get the chance to go in a long, long time.

I continued to play this game, being excited to get my very first rare item, the jungle safari explorer's couch, in trade for a buyable item. I couldn't believe my eyes. I finally got something rare

So I keep playing, gaining wealth and great friends, always having fun, making goals, and doing my best to reach them. Eventually, I got my first inferno, and I guess it kept going from there.

When quest kiosks came out, I knew I had to be one of the first to get one. I hurried to fireworks and worked some magic, playing for a few hours only to get that kiosk. Little did I know I'd end up paying 150,000 credits alone for the rooms I created  whereas the quest kiosk was only 20,000 credits at the time.

I made my "Narnia Adventure Quest" which happened to be the only reason (besides friends) for me to keep playing. I worked my behind off playing pirates when ice chairs were given out before, collecting over 300 ice chairs, all by myself :) with those chairs, I created the White Witch's Castle room, and scored me 3 visits from staff. My quest became a success.

Then, as I kept playing, something was missing. A lot of my good friends were quitting, the games were becoming far too easy, and the updates all changed the magic of the game. Fireworks remixed came out right before I got my green car (had hit 174,000 in fireworks!) and that completely crushed my goals. I also did the space mountain competition, and had my only hope left destroyed. I put all my heart into that ride, only to be given a pin, a pin I already had that went down in value (I traded inferno for it) and being told everybody did great.

So I quit the game, hating everything about it, being bored by it, having nothing to do. Fast-Forward a few months and VMK announces they are going to close. So here I am, and I don't know how to react. I love the game and I hate it. I got bored, I achieved everything I could accomplish, and the rest will never be within my reach. I only kept the account because of my Narnia Adventure Quest, and my friends. But now, they are all going to be gone. 2 years of straight work trying to achieve my Disney dreams, and they're gone?

Someone please help me, I know I've learned lessons of trading, friendship, and reaching goals. But now it's all going to waste? :sad2:

Ever faithful,
Lion

Lion, it isn't going to waste at all. From the effort you put into your Narnia room, you learned that you can create wondrous things. You've learned that you can stick with a project which, later on, I assure you will mean a great deal to you. I hate that VMK is closing too but it was not a waste. I'll bet you've learned so many little and big things that, even years from now, you'll find yourself in a situation where some little skill you developed during your time in VMK will come to your aid. Not much comfort just now, I know. All of us are feeling devastated too. There really is a rainbow just around the corner, even when we can't see it.

Long time no see lion! I feel exactly how you do.

I do think it was a waste to try and get all of the items.

But, when you think about it.. It makes sense. IMO, I was like wow, "Wow! Cool! I gotta have this!" about items so I tried and tried to get them, all to enjoy myself.

I hope this makes some sense to you! :goodvibes

Thanks to both, though I still don't know. This IS my Disney magic, I probably will never have the chance to go to Disney, and this is the closest I've had. Gosh, this is the first time I've cried over a game...

I'm sorry

By the way, before I get, will you be on the DIS more often? oh, and did you see Narnia, Prince Caspian?

Yes, I will try to, though with this being the end of the school year I can make no promises :p

And no, but I have read all the books at least 3 times, this is one of my favorites. I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD.

I have to add a final thing to this thread....

Thank You VMK!!

Pretty much, I get off the computer and take a shower, good thinking time. I realized VMK means Virtual Magic Kingdom. And that is exactly what it is to me and so many other people.

So again, thanks you.
