Michigan was / is not the 2nd best team.

the USC young man they spoke to after the game.....not sure maybe #72...????

Was asked about the title game ....and regardless of what he thought, I was very impressed with his answer....of just how they, USC played, etc, this year and generally evading the question (somewhat).

Something we wouldn't have to worry about with a decent playoff system. It is high time that the greed of old men stop hindering the dreams of young men.

if you think the OSU/Florida game is an actual matchup of number one and number two under the BCS, you're wrong. waiting nearly two months to play the title game is ridiculous.

so what should that matchup be? even if played at the end of regular season?

the game was already played..OSU/Michigan.
Meyer's unprofessional whining got the Gators into the title game. and like the old saying goes, 'be careful what you wish for'.

Oh please...WHINING?

Much like your sig....whine a little more why don't you.

"whatever", we wished, we're there and win or lose no matter.....
that's fine....win your conference first.

Too bad they can't play the title game in the regular season then, eh?

If MU played like they did today they would have been embarrassed by OSU - I'll love it if/when Florida wins just so the OSU/MU Big Ten lovers can cram it.

OSU is a complete team. Florida's speed will be worn down bythe Buckeye's defense.

after nearly two months of downtime, the first team to establish rhythm will win. OSU's Troy Williams will do exactly that.

Actually--at any time during the season--just b/c #1 and #2 play--does not make it the championship. So no.."the game has NOT already been played".

I suppose they could use that argument for the superbowl as well. :confused3

Thanks for that, Nostradamus.

This is a Championship game - the results are never preordained. Nobody can say for sure who will be better prepared or come out firing first.

One thing is for sure, UM didn't deserve a shot on today's performance. UF does by virtue of its SEC championship victory. Whether they're good enough will be found out next Monday.

at that point, the best two teams played. Florida is not going to challenge OSU at that level.

and it kills me to say that as a U (Miami)fan.

So then in any sport, in any season--once #1 and #2 play each other, we should just end the season.

I think it is more sour grapes than anything. Even if Florida gets blown out of the water (Which I hate to say as a gator grad)...it is ludicrous to say a game that hasn't even played has already been played.

At any point in any season--the two best teams "might" play each other....and at any time one of the best teams may choke. But it is known that championship games are part of the schedule--and you don't get title for playing one regular season game.

The BCS got it right in that Michigan didn't deserve to play for the title. They had there shot to get there and lost. And they looked pretty bad against a USC team that was beat by UCLA at home to end the regular season. Guess we'll find out how good a match-up Ohio State/Florida is next week.

Also looks like the BCS got it right in inviting Boise- they are certainly proving they deserve to be there and can run w/ the big dogs.

Been an interesting day of football, that's for sure. Can't wait for the Orange Bowl tomorow night!!!
