I guess I'm a DVC member!

I guess I'm now a DVC member at Old Key West. Bought a 30 point contract (2042 expiration) on January 5, Disney ROFR'd 21 days later, I sent in the closing documents and was just informed that Escrow closed as of yesterday. Yay! :woohoo:

Now I'm waiting on Disney to process the paperwork on their end so I can make my first reservation -- I was told that would take another 7 to 10 business days. Can't wait!

Only thing that's left after that is for Timeshare Title and More to get me a copy of the deed and my title insurance policy. I guess they have to wait to get something back from the county before they can send it to me.

One question I have is -- what will I get from Disney? I know a membership card, but will I get a copy of all the rules, governing documents, discounts guide, etc? :confused3

pixiedust:Welcome Home!pixiedust:

I'm glad to hear that Disney waived the ROFR on your bid. You will receive a Vacation Planner that explains the entire process. Within the planner are point charts for all of the DVC properties, the Disney Collection (Disney parks around the world and the Disney Cruise Line) and information on the World Passport Collection, Concierge Collection, and Adventurer Collection. The Passport and Concierge Collections are other timeshares you may exchange your DVC points for night(s) stay at those resorts. The Adventurer Collection is Disney's escorted travel around the world. You should also receive a copy of the master declaration, sometimes referred to at the POS. This is the legal documents of the formation your home DVC resort. If you do not receive any of these items within a few weeks you can always call MS and request them.

Within a week to 10 days you can contact member services to see if your information is in the DVC computers. If you are in the computer system, MS can give you your DVC member number and you will be ready to make your first reservation.

Good Luck.

Congratulations on becoming a Disney Vacation Club member. :woohoo:

Welcome Home!

I really, really hope I don't need more points. ;)

I bought the membership because I enjoy going to Disney World every 2 years for three or four nights, flying in from California. I may stay in Florida longer than that on some trips, but I really never stay in Disney World itself longer than the three or four nights.

I only need a studio since it's just my partner and I that travel together. With no children we really don't need a one or two bedroom.

So, to stay every 2 years in October (just as an example), I need 46 points in 2010 to stay 3 nights at the Beach Club (Saturday - Tuesday). Or 32 points to stay at Animal Kingdom in a value studio.

Per night, that works out really well to be about $115 per night for Beach Club or $75 per night for Animal Kingdom. That includes both annual dues and the cost of the membership divided by the 32 remaining years.

Since, up to now, I've always stayed at Pop Century or All Stars, I will enjoy staying at a deluxe DVC resort for a price that's somewhere between the cost of a moderate and economy property.

But there is no way I'd buy more points so I could stay more often. I won't visit WDW more often, and Disneyland is 15 minutes from my house so I won't ever need points at the Grand Californian.

Welcome Home,

The first time you bring a friend/s or your partner brings a friend, you will want more room....and we all know what happens then......:rolleyes1

Congratulations. I hope you both enjoy the membership. We'll be visiting DL next summer for the first time and can't wait.

How right your are! Resistence is futile!:darth:

Follow the resales! There are deals to be made !

Congratulations! You made a good choice, Old Key West is gorgeous and very relaxing. BUT be aware that if you ever set foot in a 1 bedroom villa, you will never want to go back to the studios and an add-on is almost certain. After all, what's a few more points? Just another small contract wih the same use year wouldn't be such a big deal, now, would it...?;)

LOL..ha ha ha did they say they werent getting more points? :rotfl2:

try the jacuzzi and a 1 bedroom at OKW and then try and tell us you dont want more points :thumbsup2

OKW 1 bedroom will knock your socks off! you will get spoiled it is unavoidable.

and then you think only going every few years.

there is something in the water at Disney, it brainwashes you..you are doomed :rolleyes1

welcome home!! from one OKW member to another! :wizard:
