Went to run some errands this afternoon and decided to grab McD's for lunch. Please...no diatribes about how bad it is for me....I know, I know. :lmao:

So I'm ordering: Number 2 no mustard, Large with a Diet Coke (and no comments about ordering a LARGE meal and a diet soda! I drink it for the FLAVOR, not the "diet" aspect ;)).

The girl on the intercom tells me "Sorry ma'am but we are all out of Diet Coke."

:scared1: the Horror!

So I say "Nevermind then." And I drive away to (blech ) Burger King (hey...pickens are slim here in the middle of nowhere). I order a Double Cheeseburger meal (also with no mustard and a Large Diet Coke). I'm driving away with my food and take a swig of my drink...and who would like to guess what was in my cup?

Go On.....GUESS!

Yeah. That's right. COKE. Guess it was my destiny today. Oh well...down the sink it goes. Stupid fast food...bad for me and not even what I ordered.

:scared1: I wouldn't drink that if you paid me!!!! Diet Coke all the way!!! Smart you dumping it right away. And how does McDonalds run out of Diet Coke? I feel a strongly worded letter coming their way

:rotfl:I share your pain - I too am a Diet Coke person. At some local places I have started taking a sip before I drive away from the window because they get it wrong so often.

Sorry you aren't here - I just fixed a big Diet Coke with crushed ice to go with my lunch...

Thanks, now you've got me craving a McRib with a large Coke. :upsidedow

I had the opposite problem as you last week. I ordered a Coke, got my drink, pulled away, going down the road, took a big drink and blech! It was diet.

I wondered if they were trying to tell me something. :rotfl:

We have a localmom and pop restaurant that is literally 100 feet away from a Stop & Shop grocery store and they are forever running out of sour cream for baked potatoes.

How does a restaurant that sits 100 feet from a grocery store ever run out of anything?

There was a grocery store right across the street from the restaurant where I used to waitress. We occasionally ran out of chocolate milk (in the little cartons) so would go over and get a gallon or two, or if the pop machine broke down someone would walk over and buy several 2-liter bottles until it could be repaired. But occasionally we'd run out of something and they wouldn't go over and get it from the store.

One day it was lemons. A group of 8 came in and one couple wanted lemon for their iced tea. I had to tell them we were out. After I finished taking their orders the guy walked over to the store and bought two lemons. He had me cut one up for their table and said to keep the other one in case any other customers wanted lemon. I was so embarrassed. There was no reason the owner couldn't have gone across the street and gotten some herself. :(

As to the OP, I hate it when they give me regular Coke instead of Diet Coke at the fast food drive-thru too. But I wouldn't go so far as to dump it down the sink, I would grudgingly drink it. Now when I order iced tea I do take a drink before leaving, to make sure it's plain and not sweetened. I can't tolerate sweet tea. Blech.

I'm with you on that one. I prefer diet pepsi to diet coke, but will take either when out and about. I also drink it because of the taste as opposed to the diet properties of it, all though those don't hurt. :rotfl: Regular soda just tastes like a big ole cup of sugar to me.

I tend to have this problem as well (and always wonder if they are trying to give me a hint too:rotfl2:)

Me too, I can't drink diet sodas, but that's all DH drinks.

I've had that problem with iced tea at McDonald's. I specifically order unsweetened, and I get that awful sweet tea. Sometimes I remember to taste it before pulling away. Other times it ends up down the drain.

Oh and now I've got awful cramps from eating the BK. I think it was the onion rings. So tasty yet my body rejects them every time! Lesson learned. I'll buy some nice cold cuts when we go food shopping tonight.

:rotfl: This happens to me all of the time!!

It's been a couple of years, but we went to a newer all you could eat buffet one night during the schools Christmas break. At the cashier, told them 2 adults, 2 kids and put in our drink orders.

Find a table to sit and we go to get our food. Lots and lots of empyy slots. No pizza, no dinner rolls, no mac 'n cheese - the list went on. Each of us got a little bit of food. Figured that with them being fairly new, they were just running slow on refilling the spots.

Sit back down at the table and the girl working our sections brings me my Dr Pepper and DD's lemon-ade. She tells DH and DS she is sorry, but they are out of Pepsi and offers them Dr Pepper, Sierra Mist or lemon-ade instead. Both tell her just to get them water and refund the cost of the drinks, but DH says it sure would have been nice to know this, when we ordered. She says sorry, gets their water and refund.

While she was doing this, DH and I are keeping an eye on the food stations. There is not a lot coming out. When the girl brings the drinks back, DH asks her when are the stations are going to be refilled. She said, they have out what they have. That they are out of lots of stuff. Sorry and leaves.

DH hunted down the manager. It was totally unacceptable for them to not be notifiying people of their food issue. According to the manager, they hadn't expected the turnout they had been having the last couple of days and they weren't scheduled for a food delivery until the following day.

DH and I both pointed out, that directly across the parking lot was a Wal-Mart. And if they wanted to stay open, then money should have been pulled from the till and someone sent over there to purchase, frozen pizza's, dinner rolls, mac 'n cheese, cases of pop, and every otherthing they were running low on. You don't take customers money for an all you can eat, when you don't have a majory of the food needed to stock your buffet.

The manager did refund us our money, as we had driven 45 minutes just to get there and now we were going to have to either stop and get something else for the kids to eat and ourselfs, as when I say we got a little I do mean a little or I would have to kix something when we got home. If I had wanted to cook that night, we wouldn't have gone out. He also gave us 10.00 off our next visit. Never used it, we never went back and the people who had lot us to go there, said it went down hill after 6 months.

OMG! What I would do for a regular Coke from McDonald's right now.

I am known to stop there just for the Coke. It tastes so much better than any other place of the stuff you get out of the can!

I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I've been told that they make a special syrup just for McDonald's.

I'm a huge sweet tea drinker at McD's, but I've learned my lesson to ALWAYS taste the tea before leaving. Or if I'm in the lobby, I'll sip it before I pour myself a whole cup. More times than not, the tea is stale and sour. There's one McD's, it just way over their head to understand the concept that the tea is old and does not have a long shelf life.

I drink unsweetened ice tea and I can't tell you how many times I have been given sweet tea instead. When I send it back often I get told oh we are out of unsweet or we don't carry unsweet so we just gave you sweet. If I could have sweet I would have asked for sweet. Tell me upfront so I can go elsewhere or do what one restaurant did and make a hot tea and pour it over ice.
