I got the call(as expected) that the AKL was under construction and they wanted to move me to SSR. I informed the very kind cast member that I had no desire to stay in any villas and wanted a true hotel experience. I was offered either Boardwalk or Beach Club, had no desire for either but chose the Boardwalk Inn. I feel like I made the wrong decision. So, I think I need to call back and get a resort that will actually feel my needs from losing my favorite resort ever. It's my 21st bday the day I check in and I want a good time.

I would be so thrilled to stay at the Beach Club!!!! They have the coolest pool on property!!!! And easy access to the boardwalk and Epcot!!!! I will probably never get to stay there unless I luck out with a great code or an upgrade!!!:wizard:

I agree--Beach Club is the hotel I most want to stay at. I'd consider it an upgrade from Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I think AKL looks pretty cool too.

Can I ask you (if you don't mind) what type of room you had booked at AKL and the dates that you were staying.

If it's any help I've stayed at the Beach Club and it was lovely. Like the person before me said - the pool is fantastic. You could also watch Illuminations EVERY night.

Definitely take the Beach Club. Unless you have a really subdued personality (!), you will enjoy the Beach Club over the Boardwalk. It has a more energetic, fun feel and the pool is more fun, IMHO. My daughter and I decided to try the Boardwalk Inn once, checked in and just didn't have that "Disney feeling" there - we may be spoiled but at Disney that's what you want - we went to the front desk and asked if we could be moved to the Beach Club and moved the same day!

Good Luck and have a great trip!

I would def. do the BC. It is a fantastic resort! Not only will you have a great pool but there are really nice restaurants like the Yachtsman Steakhouse and Cape Mays. It is really nice to be able to stroll over to Epcot and not worry about the bus system. It seems to me like a great upgrade!

Yes, but if its a 21st birthday - JellyRolls is right there at Boardwalk!

Either way - you'll have a fab time - close walk to Epcot - boat ride to MGM - just ENJOY!

I'd go with the Beach Club, then you can use Stormalong Bay pool and easily get over to the Boardwalk for the nightlife.

Sounds great to me! When we were displaced from AKL I was hoping for Yacht or Beach Club because I think the kids would really enjoy the pool, but there was no availability for our dates--we need 3 rooms.

Boardwalk sounds like a great place to celebrate your 21st birthday. There are several restaurants and entertainment venues there and you can walk to MGM or Epcot. I think you made a good choice.

Like you AKL is our most favorite resort ever!

I didn't look too hard into staying because I was worried about the construction (we visited there and couldn't barely see any, nevermind hear it), and I wanted to save money so I booked the POFQ. I got the upsell to the BC, and after a lot of thought took it. Mostly because of the pool. I thought my dd would love it.
Well she does love it!! We were also 'bumped' to club level and I love that!
This resort really is beautiful, and so relaxing! The pool with it's lazy river is so fun.
You will not be disappointed if you stay here. The Boardwalk is so close so you can have all the night life you'd like for your birthday. And Epcot is just a short walk away.

I'm so glad I took the upsell.. I refused it at first. But now I'm sad because I probably won't be able to stay here again unless I get some really good AP rates :(

I have not stayed at BC, but I did stay at BWI and loved it. The resort is atractive and the location on the Boardwalk is fun and convenient. With the BC/YC, Swan/Dolphin, and Epcot a short walk away you will feel like you are in the thick of things.

I wish I could afford to stay at any of those resorts-have to stay at allstar resort and and just enjoy the experience. My 11 yr has never been to Disney-so just his expression will be worth a million dollars.

Happy 21st. :wizard:

I may be biased since the YC and BC are the only 2 resorts we ever stay in because we LOVE them... the proximity to Epcot-being able to just walk right on in.... even walking distance to MGM if you're up to a 15 min. walk..... the pool.... the Boardwalk... TAKE IT!!! :rotfl: If you can get the AKL rate @ the BC-it's a sure win-win situation for you!!! :thumbsup2

Beach Club, Beach Club!!! Its our favorite resort...you can't beat Stormalong Bay and being able to walk over to the Boardwalk at night.

Are you paying the same price for BWI? I think BWI is a great choice for you. I can't imagine being in a better location than BWI. We personally love the BC the best, but that is because we have small children who love the sandy pool area. I can't imagine you'd be disappointed with any of the Epcot resorts -- it's a great area to walk to Epcot countries every night for dinner, watch Illuminations, and then just walk back to your resort.

Sweet Pea UK - My dates were July 29th - Aug 3rd - had booked a std. view, was trying to upgrade for the past 3 weeks to no avail, I now see why.

Thanks for all the help with choosing a resort, it helped alot.

I was playing to switch to the beach club, but when I called I talked to the nicest cast member ever about my situation and she hooked me up with the Poly.

I realized never to lose faith with Disney again, they always seeem to know how to work everything out. I truly couldn't thank the cast member enough, she truly made sure I would have a magical stay.

HOLY MOLY!!!! The POLY!!!!!!!! Cool - now that is a good switch!
