Thanks to all of you, I got Silver Lake Silver Points for Dec 14 for a week, 2 bedroom,,,,

Now, I need more help from you all that have stayed there.

Does Silver Points all have elevators? We have 3 people traveling with us that have mobility issues, do they have handicap units? (no wheelchairs but still handicapped)

Is there a building we should ask for? One close to the pool maybe? One that is away from the construction? One with good parking?

WHat is your favorite thing about staying at Silver Lake? What is close (restaurants, shopping, etc) that we should not miss? What grocery stores are close?

Thanks a million for any and all help.

I can't wait

Sorry I can't offer any info. just wanted to say congrats on getting this place. :cool1: I have looked at the web site many times over the last year and it looks really great!!!!!

We stayed here a few years ago at almost the same time you'll be staying. We found it to be a nice resort, the 2 BR was huge, and you can't beat the location to Animal Kingdom! Our unit was in one of the buildings right next to the "back gate" that lets out onto Black Lake Rd. (I think that's the name of it?) and it was an easy hop over to AK, and also close to visit AKL to see the decorations at Christmas.

I think you'll have a nice stay there. IIRC, on their website you can see a layout of the 2 BR, and possibly a map of the resort.

forgot grocery store - I like the Publix at orange lake.

going out the main area (not the back exit to Sherbert road)

turn right - when you get to the light turn right - I think 417 is between you and publix - or it maybe be behind it - just don't remember - maybe some OL lovers will tell you.

publix is on the right

you're not that far away from the walmart either. Probably 8-10 minutes at most.

If you head right on 192 from the condo, you'll hit the interstate (27 maybe?) and it's right there.

The prices are a lot cheaper then Publix and they have lots of Disney items as well.

We booked an additional Condo, a 1 bedroom with King bed at Silver Lake Silver Points. We are going to stay in the 1 bedroom and our DIS friends (wenabre, katdb and Wenabre's Mom) are going to stay in the 2 bedroom. We gave it to them as a Christmas Gift.

I can't wait to be there with people who since having met them in 2001, have become my second family.

Yeah!!!

Well, I hope we at least get to be in the same building.

is the one bedroom a lock out ... if so it is part of the three bedroom suite and as such not as large as other one bedrooms at silver lake points.....you could phone and ask

they have elevators and do have handicapped units on the first floors

you might want to also call and ask about "housekeeping" charges....they were one resort that was reported to be charging cleaning fees even on exchanges

silver points buidlings are at the back of the resort

It's Silver Points sleeps 4 and has a full kitchen. It says it has a King bed (Dis i read that Silver Lake (not Points) only has a queen?)

I have looked at some photos online and even if it's the smallest one bedroom, we will be fine.

I was told that the only time they charge for a cleaning fee is if you leave early or stay less than a week. If you stay a whole week, no fee.

The 2 bedroom is also at Silver Points...

Any idea what buildings to ask for for these 2 units?

the building on the right as you go back is the oldest, the building on the left is the newest

good to know they are not gouging for cleaning charges ( most points resorts charge cleaning for less than 7 days, but the range can be anywhere from 20$ HGVC to 50 or 60$ at summer bay resort ....this is based on a three day stay from our experience )

Thanks...I had not seen the RCI page.

I really hope it's nice for wenabre and family because they mean the world to me. Mine, as long as it's clean, I'm OK.

review #2 relates how they "stretch" the full kitchen aspect of units.....make sure you call and verify what you are getting for your one bedroom

it is a nice compact resort...points part accomodation are better than the villas part

interesting observation from a review on Trip Advisor

Choosing a Room
First off, I will begin by saying that I took the advice of other reviewers on this site (thanks!) and contacted Kristi before we arrived. She is the Manager of Reservations at Silver Lake and she met every request I asked for. We were placed in the 1000 building (2 bedroom condo) on the top (4th) floor with a view of the fireworks and really close to a pool (right beside the building and across from the basketball/tennis courts). I would highly recommend the 1000 building. It is new, clean and a pleasure to stay in.

It won't let me view the reviews...But thanks for the quote

Beatiful Resort Next to Animal Kingdom Date: October 19, 2007

Best things about resort
Location to Disney Parks - the Animal Kingdom is on one side of the resort. The rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious. We had a two bedroom unit which was actually a one bedroom with a separate lock-off for the second bedroom. The configuration suited us as it gave my parents some privacy, however, if you have small children, you could leave all the doors open between the units but you may find that the second bedroom is a little far away from the master bedroom. The two pools were also beautiful!

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
All the Disney Parks!

We love this resort - the Silver Points section is the newer, more modern section and is rated as Gold Crown. The older section rooms are rated as Silver Crown and are very nice and even more spacious, but not as fancy.

I have learned over the years to always call the resort and RCI to verify things prior to confirming any reservation. In this case I feel as if I were duped by the resort and the resort also mislead RCI. There is a Gold Crown and Silver Crown section to this resort and I booked into the Gold Crown. 1 Bdr w/Full Kit. Resort appeared nice for a smaller resort and then I went to my room. The resort had basically taken a lockoff studio unit and placed a miniature stove in the entrance and a portable stackable washer dryer in the entry closet so that they could call the unit a 1bdr with full kit. I contacted Guest Services and was told that according to the RCI guidelines, that this room can be classed as a 1 bdr. They refused to move me. I called RCI and they were apologetic but getting me a new room was out of there control. They did however offer to give me a refund if I was unable to stay. Thank you RCI, I checked out immediately and stayed at another RCI resort. Silver Lakes resort was unwilling to assist me in any way.

Best things about resort
High quality accomodations!! This was by far the nicest of the RCI resorts we've seen!

Best attractions or restaurants nearby
Very, very close to Disney - can take the side entrance into the parks. Within a mile of several outstanding restaurants, a grocery store, and a medical after hours clinic (which we needed for an ear infection)

Our family truly loves this resort! We have been there twice, and are on our way back for a third time. The units are spacious and very well laid out. The staff is helpful and the resort is in a very nice area adjacent to the Disney complex.

Thank you...It seams that the complaint is about the 1 bedroom we will have but since I know ahead of time,
I'm fine with it.

Were interested in staying at Silver Lake points next summer. Are you guys booking directly through the resort, RCI, or skyauction? What kind of deals
are there right now? Thanks Steve

Skyauction...I got a week for 179.00

Go to skyauction and Search for Holiday. It's a good deal.

the skyauction cost for the RCI getawayweeks certificate through HOLIDAY sale actually cost 199$ when you add in the processing fee.....

As far as I can remember I have not seen any summer weeks for Orlando on getawayweeks.com for the last couple years.
