I went by Home Depot today and got a few Alien Green mickey heads to attach proudly (somewhere) on my upcoming April trip, but I'm at a loss as to what to do with them...............They are too small to write much on, especially once I trim away the beige part. What did you guys do with them???

I plan on writing my screen name on it in big sharpie black letters. But looking at your screen name might I suggest a simple DIS on them? I am planning on hanging them on my stroller-LOL but I have to be sly- my DH is so afraid of all those "internet wierdos"(I don't have the heart to tell him he is married to one!)

Are we talking about the Disney paint chip mickey heads? I have 2 and was trying to figure out what to do. Was thinking of buying the ID lanyard and putting it there. I'm trying to get DH to laminate them for me.
I bought a bag at Wal-mart on Friday for the trip. Big, will hold a change of clothes for the kids, material so will wash easily, large plastic pouch in the centre for wet clothes and best of all, trimmed in LIME GREEN. :goodvibes

how about take 2, put them back to back, laminate them so it's a double sided one and attach it with a key chain link (the kind that's loose not the hard circle.. the kind that opens with the little circles..) on your backpack or fanny pack or purse? That's what I'd do...

I carefully peel the Mickey head off the backing and put 2 back to back, glue them together, have them laminated and cut out around the head. Then I punch a hole in the center top and run a lime green ribbon thru it and hang them from my backpack... :goodvibes

that is exactly what i did..... i put them back to back and wrote "DIS" on them and then laminated them and punched a hole at the top and used a lime green ribbon to hang it from my back pack...... i was standing by space mountain with my dd that wouldnt ride and a little girl saw my mickey heads and told her mommy..... then her mommy told me they read the disboards all the time..... i am so sorry i forgot your screen name but it was very nice to chat with you and your daughter was so cute in her princess dress!!! i think she was from ohio also...... well thats what i did vicki

This is the first I've heard of alien green mickey heads! So, if you want to make yourself known to other visitors from this board you should hang some green mouse ear paint chips from Home Depot somewhere? Sounds like fun (although my DH would definitely find it strange....) Do many of you here do this???

I have mine here and ready to laminate for our May trip hubby seen them and asked what I was doing with them I said because I am a dis'er we have to wear them on our bag so others from the board know hehe! He shook his head at me like I am strange LOL

alien green is the color of the mickey heads from home depot.... vicki

:rolleyes2 I decorated my window and small x-mas tree with them on my last trip during the holidays, but sadly no one said hi or anything but i wont stop trying, gonna dig them up and try to meet some Dis'er when I go this weekend....... :rolleyes2

Great ideas!! My DH thinks I'm a nut too..........oh well. At least I'm not the only one! :teeth:
I think I'll go the laminated and backpack route..........seems the easiest for my low-crafty skills!!

For our Dec. trip in '05 I took a bunch of different colored Mickey heads and cut them all out the I taped them to our patio windows poolside at the BWV. They looked so cool when we had the lights on and the sheers drawn. :woohoo: I will have to think of something new for this year.

That's what I did, too. I only had one person notice, but I was very excited about that. DH thought I was crazy, but when that lady said "hey, you are on the DIS," it was all worth it to see the look on his face. He has already asked if I am taking them again this year.

I have found that if you peel off the green Mickey head from the backing, it becomes too weak, and easily bent and crushed while you are wearing it.
This is true even if you glue them back to back.

Here's how I do mine: I leave the green Mickey on the cardboard, but I very carefully trim off the beige card excess. This means you need fine scissors.

THEN I glue them back to back. I use a paper hole puncher to punch a hole right between the ears. I make up at least 8 of them for myself.
I then hang them from either lime green ribbon, or the typical chains that come with key chains. They are hooked on every zipper pull on my fanny pack, and one dangles from my Guest of Honor badge. I never wrote on them, but I think DIS would be perfect.

Warning: Stupid question ahead!

How do you laminate them? I thought I saw some little laminating kits at one time at Target with the other office/school supplies but I can't seem to find them now. :confused3

I had about 5. I did the laminating the cheap way. First I wrote DIS in both the ears in black sharpie. Then I put my screen name across the face. Then I got clear packing tape and wrapped the tape around the chip. Presto - cheap laminate. I also put another blank piece of the back of 3 of them, wrote my address on it, wrapped them in tape, punched a hole, threaded it with ribbon and used them as luggage tags.

Not a stupid question. I used clear packing tape. Worked great.

ETA: Oops! Princess beat me to the punch. Hi, Princess! Loved your trip report!

Hi! I got green Mickys' for my 2 DD's and myself. Once my DGD13 found out what they are for she has been bugging me to get her some - she gets on the Dis Boards for teens. One question - how do you get them with out the Home Depots' customer service person asking repeatedly how I may be helped? Any other time I have been in that store I have to hunt down some one to assist me. It must have been a slow day.

If you don't mind paying, you could have the heads laminated at a teachers' school supply store. For example, in Baton Rouge there is a store called School Aids. They do laminating. I would guess that all cities have a store similar to that one.
