Hi guys,
We have been thinking of DVC for years now. Running the numbers, talking PRO's and CON's, thinking about what if's. Well I finally got DHs approval to go and do it. :woohoo:

Why am I nervous.

I should just call and do it. I know it is the right decision. Did any of you have cold feet at the end?

Thanks... I knew you guys would understand. I mention DVC to my non-Disney friends and they can't.

Waited over ten years. Sat on the chairs on the BW veranda and dreamed and dreamed about it. Stared at the VWL building sign in the trees and thought, "one day". Walked around OKW numerous times. Had guides tell us we were crazy for coming again and no DVC. But wanted to pay upfront. Wished and wished and wished.

And when we finally had the money....

Had cold feet. And needed a push. So yes I did. It's a major purchase. I think it's normal.

Good luck with everything. Exciting times.

I totally understand. I love Disney and love planning for trips there.
We just bought DVC last week. We bought the 225 points because it was a great incentive (or so we thought).

However, we have not been thinking about it for years. We just went to an Open House on our trip there in late January and left knowing we were probably going to do it. We were signed up by the Wednesday when we got home. So, no cold feet on our end!!!

We are only kicking ourselves for not doing it when I first learned about it (and totally dismissed it as something we couldn't do).

We randomly talked to some DVC members on our trip and everything they said was positive and they loved their membership. Not one said anything negative.

If you do it before the deadline and need a referral for the incentive, please let me know, you can use my name!

Good Luck in your decision!!

Look for resales, small point ones that won't cost so much up front. That will probably make you feel a little better, and you will have plenty of time to add on! :goodvibes

You guys are making me feel better. I honestly have been dreaming of one day owning. We finally have the cash and I know this is for us.

I need to Just do it :rotfl2:

It is a snow/ice day here so I need to think about my next trip "home" in the warm sun.

Becca, I do live in STL.... where are you?

That's what we did! Even small contract with using them in 3 year clumps... makes for great vacations! Then add on... add on... add on...
We did that too!:rotfl:

That was my way too. Bought small by resale, and have started to add on already. One thing that bolstered me was the resale value of the smaller contracts. I figured, if after 5 years of prepaid vacations in a deluxe resort, I decide to sell and get even 75% of what I paid, I've made out like a bandit. So what's to lose?

I know I go there every year, might as well upgrade my accomodations. I always wanted to stay deluxe, but would never have paid the deluxe prices of the rooms for my entire vacation (always stayed moderate, maybe a couple of nights deluxe). Since I could manage to buy in without creating a financial problem for my family, it was worth it to me.

It's a major purchase but one that most people you'll talk to here do not regret. It's perfectly understandable to be nervous especially when it's new and you're unsure of all the ins an outs that go along with it. I have to say when we bought in 2004 we didn't do any research:sad2: (other than knowing we could afford it and love WDW) and we have not regreted it at all. If you've done your homework and given it thought you won't regret it! Good luck!

We're just the opposite of you and your wife. My DH is the one to ponder $$ decisions. I'll be the one to think "you only live once and you can't take $it$ with you" :) That being said we should have bought in 1998 (me) but took the plunge in 2004 (when we both agreed it was the right thing to do)

We are home today due to ice also. Hopefully this mess will clear up soon! It makes me miss Disney. (The last ice/snow storm we were in sunny Florida and loving every minute of it)!

It is completely understable to feel a little hesitant. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't go for it. It sounds lijke you have really taken the time to decide, so jump right in! Which resort are you going to be calling home?

When I toured SSR the first time, I knew DVC was right for us. We bought a couple days later. Now the question has gone from "if" to "how many points". We have 625 now and everytime we add-on it we think we have enough. Yet we burn through our points every year. We just finished reserving our NYE rooms for 2008 and are out of points again until Oct 2009!! :scared1:

We, well I, was feeling the same way. But we jumped in last night! If you know it will work for you and you can afford it, go for it!!

That is me and my DH to a tee!!!

That's what we did. Any idea of where you want to buy?

Where do you have your 625 points? That is awesome!!! If Adonitis ever strikes me, I might try to get some resale at the BWV or BCV.

I did it... I just bought 175 pts at BWV! I can not tell you how excited I am... any doubt I had is GONE.....

 :thumbsup2 :dance3: :cheer2:

ETA: in all my excitement I forgot to thank you guys... you are always there when I need you!

Lurking over here as I am kinda debating buying but your statment made me jealous . I wish I was like that

You sound like me! DH always tells me to "go ahead" because he knows I will use my own frugal self-control for all kinds of things! I wanted to add on at OKW, and he said ok, then I decided myself not to. I think it's some kind of reverse psychology he uses on me!!!

Congratulations!!! If you don't mind me asking, did you buy resale or direct from Disney?
