I Got Banned Today!!!
Okay, Today is the first saturday in October, Halloween Month is here my favorite VMK holiday. I had saved up my credits and bought my first bat magic yeah and a new bat-mickey hat.
Anywho...
I was walking around when someone asked me if my hat was for trade saying it was cool. I agreed and said that it would be okay to trade for it. Mistake number one.
He said that he would trade "Rare" for the hat and that it was in his room. I didn't know how i was to get to his room, the only way as to become his friend and enter the same room once he got there. I got a letter of invitation to be his friend and accepted it.
He left and I watched as he entered the Emporium. I asked him what he was doing, no response. So, thinking he was just going to buy the hat and ignore me for now on, I left. As I entered a different Emporium, a note appeared on the sceen that said:

"Violence is unacceptable in VMK, you are here by banned from VMK for the time period of one month,

I sat at my computer, stunned wondeing why it said that I used violence or something, which is obviously a faulty ban. Maybe he was angry at me for not mentioning that it was on sale at the emporium, even though it's on the home page of VMK, and decided that he wanted me off for a while.

I have no idea what's going on now.
I went to the Contact Us messaging system, and click the button that said, "I Think I'm Banned" and it said "Do you think thatyour ban was unfair?"
I accidently clicked no in blind fury, my mind must have read it as "Do you think your ban was fair."
Anyway I went back to check to see if I had done something wrong when no area to type what happened showed up. (I forget to mention this in the note to Staff Members in the message). I wrote a message explaining in the best detail possible and saying that I was sad and confused, which I was, about what had happened.
I don'tknow what to do now, I will probably miss Halloween on a faulty ban now, this is horrible.
I hope someone out there can help me with this...

Just to let you know that as long as you know the person's name, you can always go to the Guest Room list and enter that person's name in there, do a search, and then go to their room. You do not have to accept them as a friend.

I know there are people here on DIS that know the phone number to call for this type of situation. Sorry to hear this happened to you, but do not give up hope

Wow, i feel really sorry for you Its rude how people send false reports but why ? I hope your ban gets lifted, and when you do, and if its still halloween month, do what i do, and dont talk to ANYBODY except really good friends. That way, it makes life easier, and if you do want to talk to other players, be nice etc. Its hard sometimes but whatever its worth it =) HOPE YOUR BAN GETS LIFTED! ohh did i say that already? whatever hehe xP

I got an email todayfrom staff that said, " We beleive your ban to be fair and just."
OK, now i'm angry.
Appareantly they reveiwed my chat log and said that "engage in anti-social, disruptive, or destructive acts, your conduct was disruptive to others."
First of all
He asked me to trade, when did I disrupt him, he wanted to trade my new hat for som other stuff, what did I do wrong there. Maybe they saw a problem there that I invited him to be my friend to go to his room to see his items he had for trad, I didn't know there was any other way to get into the same room, sorry VMK.
Anyway, I guess I'm banned, they have already denied me once now, I don't know if I should try harder.
They actually had a part of the chat log in the email, and as far as I could see, everything that happened is exactly what I told you before. Maybe they can't see what he said, IDK, but my ban is unfair, and I'll probably quit VMK, realizing that the staff can't sense right and wrong as well as I thought they could.

i agree with that last sentence there, because i report someone after they "curse" or "use adult language" and VMK threatens to ban me for trying to keep vmk a safe place... wow, in the values doesnt it say to REPORT A PLAYER when they are being anti-vmk-values?

Maybe if they decide to reveiw it once more, they will find something they missed before, or they will tell me what I did wrong and I won't understand it still and send them more messages that say the exact same thing.
Maybe they would get tired of me messaging them and just withdraw the ban, who knows. But that's probably not going to happen ever. I probably have a better chance at being banned for a longer time, eeeeeeeeeekkkkkkk!

Bans dont have to be about what you were doing last in the game before it happened. It probably had nothing to do with the trade your talking about. Sometimes it takes them a week to act on something. Can you think of something in the week before that might have caused a ban?

No, i was on VMK just goofing around for a while then I got some stuff

I got banned for a day for bad language. Little sister who was five at the time was on as me when i was taking shower. Apparently she used bad language. Then I got a month ban and never found out what I did.

Bass King, I am so sorry to hear about your ban. I sure hope you get it cleared up soon.

Some players are using report as a fun thing to do. It is a new game that is played. I am glad to see vmk has given the players the power to do something like this but it has gone too far. If you don't give them what they want or do what they want you to do, they report you. I have heard and seen all kinds of crazy things. It's too bad this happened. I am sure VMK staff is overloaded due to this fact. If staff is using something automatic, it needs to be reviewed and revamped.

To be effective they would need to look at each report individually so what you have experienced doesn't happen. It would help if they reworked their report form. Not every instance needs immediate attention. In some cases, it would be warranted but not in all.

I did see one player acting very offensively during Dreams to many players in one room. When I went to another room, he was there doing the same thing again. I think everyone there reported him. We had staff show up in a matter of minutes. In that case, I am glad they were there.

Let's see, last wee I was playing ship battle and some girl was cussing at us for no reason, none of us cussed back at her but me, that's probably what happened. She said something like "duck you bench" that exactly and then kept apologizing, saying she was talking to her sister. I don't know why she was typing it though, made it seem like it was directed at us. Well, about one minute later, I got a message of warning from staff, I got a warning on the spot, everyone did apparently, even though those that did not say anything to defend themselves, I acted poorly at that moment and got warned, not banned, would they ban me for that now?

I'm sorry you got banned. I was banned for a day because of something I did not do (I don't even know what I did - I left my computer to do something and came back to a ban message). I went through "contact us" but never got a response. I hope your ban is lifted.

that is very sad frankly. i got banned for the month of August (i was on vacation for half of it anyway) for, it said, "the graphic nature of your character is not acceptable for VMK"
yours is even worse then mine. I was just sitting in my quest room when i got this.
