When we booked out Wonder cruise for May 2003, we had to book an inside (something I really DO NOT LIKE). We've had an inside before and found it dark and claustrophobic. Our last cruise we had a balcony. But, being Canadian and our dollar being as bad as it is, this is all we could afford. Now, I'm very happy we have sunlight but here is my concern.

We were originally booked in Cabin 7001 which was at the end of a dead-end hall and we had nothing but the bridge overhead. Now we have cabins above and the Walt Disney Theatre below. It's also by elevators. It's also on the same floor as the kid's clubs. We have a 3 1/2 YO going so that'll be a plus but are we in for a TON of noise being here.

We loved our "Secret porthole" room so much, we have one reserved for next cruise. The elevator lobbyies are far enough from the room that you don't really hear anything. I also do not recall any noice from the theater below.

consider yourself very lucky, we and i think u find that most people on the board like the secret porthole rooms.
we use to book them and have stayyed in one or another of them for 3 cruises we also have 2 of them for upcoming cruises
it is great if u cant have a balcony to have the porthole...
vs, inside stateroom
go to www.castawayclub.com and u can look it up it is a dead end hallway and u will not hear the elevator.........

I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in these rooms! We loved them. I have pics of 5522/5524 on my website - linked below. Congratultions on snagging one of these terrific rooms!

Another thumbs up here! 5522 was awesome! We have also stayed in 5013, the same basic area, and loved that too.

How far in advance did you guys typically book to secure your secret porthole rooms...?

We are in 5520 in less than 6 weeks!! When I originally booked Dec 31st I was not able to get any of the secret porthole rooms. A few months ago I was able to book 5520. So if at first you dont succeed, try try again.

You shouldn't have any noise from the theater and the clubs shouldn't pose a problem either. The entrance to the both the lab and club is midship that is where most of the noise from the clubs would come from. The aft and forward elevators don't have as much traffic as the midship ones do. We were just in 5130 near the aft elevators and never heard any noise. Being at the end of the little hallway you shouldn't have as much 'walking by noise' as you would on say middle of deck 6. JMO

We booked on 1/20/02 for our 1/2/03 cruise and got 5522, it's an ajoining room, the stand alones were gone....spruce

We had the secret porthole cabin # 5520 for our cruise to the Eastern last month and loved it. No noise at all and the elevators in that area were always available. We used the decks on 4 which are right by those elevators and we almost always had the deck to ourselves. It is a smoking area, however, so there were times we had to move but we just kept switching sides. These were wonderful for just laying around reading or enjoying a relaxing snooze (my DH was usually in that position!) We're going on the Wonder next October for a family cruise and we have 5022 and 5024 booked. I know they're more obstructed than the 5020 and 5520 but it'll be nice just to have daylight. I don't think you'll be disappointed in your room. Just a FYI though. The crew does do work outside these portholes occasionally so you have to be careful when changing. Check to make sure there's no one out there or the drapes are closed.

I have a full report on 5520 on my website at www.castawayclub.com as it was our stateroom on our three-peat. You will get some hallway noise since it is at the front of the hallway, but nothing more than you might get elsewhere. The proximity of the elevators does not seem to contribute to the noise at all, and they are so convenient! You won't hear anything from the theater below...the only sound we've ever heard from below was when they temporarily moved the Latin Rythmns show to the comedy club, but they moved it out of there so you are safe :D
We are booked in the secret portholes rooms many times throughout 2003.

Great. Thanks everyone. I think I'll be very happy getting that sunlight! We're in 5520 so I guess we got one of the stand alone, least obstructed cabins!
