I got a postcard, I think...

Got what I think is a postcard in the mail today. Moderate resort from 2/12 - 4/17 at $104 per night. The dates work wonders for us as we are going to WDW from 2/27 - 3/6, HOWEVER we have ressies at the Dolphin already!!

So now I have to decide, do I stay at the Dolphin @ $162.50/night or switch to POR for $104/night.

Any advise???

I would switch to POR. You can save some money, and although POR is not as deluxe as Dolphin, POR has such a lovely atmosphere.

I would let the area decide for me. Are you EPCOT fans? Or will you be spending a lot of time at Downtown Disney. Think of the time you will save not having to get on a bus to get to EPCOT and MGM, not to mention evenings strolling on the Boardwalk. We've stayed at POR, and although nice, I think we like to be more part of the action.

DH is really pushing for us to switch. The savings is over $600 which would probably cover the cost of food for the 4 of us for 4-5 days. There is no one park that we will be spending more time at, and I doubt we'll be our rooms much. My boys are 8 & 11 so there isn't going to be a need for the afternoon nap.

UGH... Just when I thought I had everything palnned!!!

Sweetpea - Call CRO to see if they can apply a discount to a Deluxe Resort. Sometimes they will. It can't hurt to try and see. Jay

I can get AKL or WL standard view for $179 plus tax, which is more than what I am paying for Dolphin. DH would NEVER go for that!!! I think we are going to switch. I just can't justify spending the extra $600 for the room.

I've been toying with the idea of going back in Oct for a quick trip so my boys can attend Tae Kwon Do Nationals, so the $600 we saved would be a nice start to saving for the trip.

Wanted to let you know that if you want to get a postcard rate, you should call asap. When I tried only one day after receiving the postcard the special rate rooms were already sold out!

I went ahead and booked POR, but still have the Dolphin as well. From reading these boards I knew that the postcard room go quickly, so now I have 2 ressies, and I have to pick 1. I called the Dolphin to see if there are any better rates coming out, but they are completely sold-out for my dates. So any hopes of getting a better rate is nil I'm afraid. I've seen Dolphin show up on Travelocity for $99 and was hoping maybe they would come out for my dates as well.
