I am thrilled to share that I was offered and accepted a position as a buyer at an aerospace firm yesterday. I found out about the interview at 10:45am, interviewed at 4:00pm and was offered the job at 7:25pm. I will be starting next Wednesday.

I am so excited about this because it means we can finally start looking for a house to move into closer into Tampa. We are in the boonies right now and it is so stressful having to drive 20 minutes to go to the grocery store or an hour to get to the mall or even a decent shopping center.

The best part is that the pay for the position is excellent and I will actually be making more here than I did in California in my last position. That actually equates to a raise since the cost of living in Florida is so much less. Plus, the company is pretty close to where we live now AND where we are looking to move.

All in all, I'm pretty excited. We're going to DHS to celebrate!

Congrats!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!! That is the best news!!!!
Go and enjoy your DHS day!!!!!

Congratulations! I'm sure that is a major relief! Good luck with the house search - great time to buy now that prices are dropping.

I am so happy for you Shauna! Enjoy DHS, have lots of fun! and a great weekend and Happy Easter!!

Thanks everyone! It really is a huge relief.

We think we are going to look for a rental closer to Tampa before buying. We still aren't sure about neighborhoods and schools and commutes, etc so we want to try things out before committing. We just feel like we need more time before buying something.

We are rewarding ourselves with the DHS day on Monday after spending the weekend with DH's mom. We know we're going to need the fun after that!

Rental will be good to get your feet wet with a that way you can make sure you find a good fit for your future purchase!!!

:woohoo: That's a big relief for you both! I think you're right to rent while you're working out exactly where you want to live - much easier to move around til you find what you want:thumbsup2

Hi Shauna,

I'm so happy to hear you got a job! When we moved to Denver, I was in a little of a similar situation. DH had a job, but was laid off 4 days after we got here. Thankfully, it wasn't an immediate layoff and was employed through June. He luckily found something 2 weeks before his end date. So while he was never without employment, we had to watch our money because we didn't know how long the job search would take, so we couldn't explore our new surroundings, we could think about buying a house, etc. And like your situation, it was DH who wanted to come here, not so much me. It has turned out pretty well, now that we are settled, and so I hope the same for you.

Enjoy finding your new home, enjoy learning about the interesting places around Tampa, enjoy making day trips to WDW.
