I have been doing childcare from my home fulltime for 3 1/2 years now. It's not an easy job, the hours are long & the pay isn't great. I started doing this when my oldest started Kindergarten so I could be home with them. It's been a rollercoaster ride as far as income is concerned. I have had parents laid off several times which means they don't need me/can't pay me, I have had parents bounce checks, forget to pay me, at times felt as if I was pulling teeth to get paid ect. Every Monday (my pay day) its nerve wracking to know if I'm going to get paid on time by each family. I get no paid vacations or sick time. The last straw was when my son got H1N1 and I couldn't work so no pay for me. I decided at that time I have to get a full time job with benefits. I began looking & applying in Oct. Seems like a long time but I know with the economy the way it is I'm lucky enough to have already secured a fulltime job!~
I received (and accepted) an offer on Monday (after 3 interviews over the last month) from a major hospital in the area. I will be working in the business office, great hours, casual dress code, benefits (YAY!!) and the best part....they offered me $3 MORE an hour than I asked for:scared1::yay::yay:
Its going to be a major adjustment for my family and I am so nervous to give my notice to my childcare families but I have to do whats best for me & my family.
I am excited and just wanted to share!:woohoo:

That is wonderful news! Congratulations!

I recently went back to work myself fulltime and it has been a adjustment for my family, but they are doing fine.

CONGRATULATIONS! Now you'll be able to talk like a big girl, work with adults and have a little more mental stimulation!!! I'm sure it will be a great move for you and therefore, your family!

Congrats! I am in the same boat -- got a job offer on Monday after working from home for 15 years....major adjustments coming to the family, but very exciting! Good luck to you!

Awesome!!!

And sounds like you've been good to the parents and they didn't pay you when they couldn't and I'm sure they put their families' needs above yours so you have to do the same thing...your first responsibility is to your family! And I'm glad to see you're taking care of you and yours!!! :goodvibes

And remember nothing to be ashamed about by doing the right thing! :thumbsup2

Congratulations and good luck on your new job. I could have written the same explanation of my job. I have been doing it for 22 years. I just lost 3 full timers right before Christmas. 2 are moving away and the other one's mother did something illegal and was fired. I am now considering looking for a full time job, the difference is, I am an empty nester. Have a wonderful holiday.

Congratulations!! Please send some of your positive vibes my way...I need to find a job too :)
