Just had to share my gift to all. My DH gave me a Celebrity cruise and we leave Dec. 28th!!! He kept the secret since September!!! Couldn't believe it when I opened it, I thought it was the Carnival cruise he was suppose to have booked 3 weeks ago. He did a great job of keeping it a secret.
He went to great lengths. He printed out the fake cruise, even down to the hotel ressies and air ressies. He had me wrap it up and I placed it under the tree. One morning he found the package, opened it up pulled out what I had wrapped and wrapped the docs for the Celebrity cruise.
Now this wasn't easy. No. 1 he had worries when people became ill on the ships (which they were ill before they boarded then spread to fellow passengers), we were in Ft. Lauderdale early Nov. and right by Port Everglades where the Millennium leaves and one night said, "there goes the Millennium!" Like I would have a clue he had booked a cruise.
Then the bad knee problem with me. I had the brainy idea of changing the wallpaper in our 1/2 bath before Christmas which made my bad knee flare up; so bad that I had trouble walking and had to go see my orthopedic doctor. They almost thought surgery was in order! Lucky me, no tear only I do need my knee drained and a cortisone (sp?) shot is in order. He had to call the doctors office and tell them the cruise date I was concerned about, Jan 10, was NOT the one they needed to work around but it was Dec. 28th!!! Poor man. I go in Friday morning for the painful drain and shot. Oh well
He pulled it off. I had no clue. When I opened the package, I was in shock. The contents were not what I had wrapped and it was not a Carnival 5 day leaving Jan. 10th but a Celebrity 7 day leaving Dec. 28th! I am still in shock.
No it is not DCL, that is March 14 but we won't cruise Disney without our daughter. We would be too guilty. I thought I would share this because I have read posts on surprise cruises. He gave me one before but I never thought he could top that time. He had no plans to ever cruise and he gave me a 3 day cruise with him back in 1998. We left the first weekend in Jan and missed one day of that cruise because of a blizzard. He got hooked. Happy Christmas to all. Kathy
