I got $700 free money!!!!!

Not sure what your not getting, basically, between my husband and myself, we have $700 in Disney rewards for opening a new accounts. Works for me.

Perhaps the person isn't aware of what it means, "the $200 offer", etc. Many people who go to Disney, use Chase, and read the Dis know, but not everyone does. So the sort of shorthand that those who do know use could be extremely confusing to those who don't.

Ok, with the Disney Chase visa, you earn rewards, I along with many others have recieved an offer in the mail to open a new Disney chase visa and by doing so they gave me $200 in Disney rewards, that I can spend on anything Disney, like my upcoming trip. I am super excited about the extra money!

Thanks for all the info, however I do have my finances under control. The only debt we have is the house with a 4.50% interest rate, that's it. No plans or need for any large purchases within the next 5 years. All is good here. Two weeks and I leave for Disney!!!!!

woo-hoo! wow, send me some pixie dust...i seem to get every card offer known to man, except this $200 offer!:thumbsup2

Wow!! So I can apply for a second Disney card for under each name??
I got a $15.00 gc for opening mine, my husband just got the $200 offer approved.

We pay off the balance each month and are not overly concerned about our credit rating (it's in the 800s currently) so I might try applying for another then closing it out after getting the $200 card.

It would be very nice to get free park tickets for our next trip!

Don't close it, why take the Xtra credit hit? Just use it once in a blue moon, pay it right off and keep your credit rating in good standing!
By the way, I say, Good For You.
We actually did similar and made quite a chunk of change off Visa. No issues here :rotfl2:
Wait till you get the offers to open bank accounts.....

It reminds me of something my dad said to me recently...

he said .......wait till the banks and cc companies start offering you "products" as enticement like years ago, glasses, toasters and such. its what they did years ago and its where this troubled economy is headed again;) I see an ad on tv now for some silly item and just laugh........we shall see, I guess........

Those open credit lines stay on your credit report as long as they are open so it's not just 6 months. To me, that's just not worth "free" money. As someone else said, nothing is free.

I know that.

Just be careful...we ALWAYS paid off our credit cards in full each month, until DH was diagnosed with cancer & DD with a chronic illness. DH was off of work & I had to take FMLA to care for DD. All of a sudden we needed the credit cards just to survive. I wouldn't risk the ding on your credit report just for $700, you never know what the future may bring.

No plans or need for any large purchases within the next 5 years.

That's the scary part - most emergencies, job losses, illnesses etc. are not planned and these inquiries last at least 6 months on your credit report which means no loans or lines of credit.

How funny you posted this. I got an offer to open a Chase acct. and get $150 back. I still have the paper for it. I just haven't had a chance to go down to ChASe to open the acct.

We have offers like this all of the time in the mail and in our newspaper. Read the fine print, most/all require that you set up direct deposit. For us, it's not worth the hassle for DH to go to the payroll person at work and request a change.

to OP congrats enjoy it and nevermind all of the unsolicited advice :)

I wish I could get a Disney visa but beeing Canadian I was told no :( I just wanted the disney cooler and the nemo on my card:rotfl2:

Well ... they do have a line of credit: 4 open Chase Visa cards. They are probably not at a favorable interest rate.

I think it's really strange that Chase allows you up to 5 Visa cards. Especially the same branded card.

You can, I actually have 3 Disney visas in my name now.

I didn't know this. It seems weird they do this. I wasn't putting anyone down- or didn't mean to- I was just curious. Everyone's finances is there own business.

And this is why I have an emergency fund that will cover my living expenses for a year if anything were to happen!

We just bought a "new" (to us!) used card. We were told by the bank, credit union, and one car dealer that there have been changes in the laws that regulate how "dings" against your credit rating are determined. Basically, if there are inquiries that fall in the same category (car loan, for example) within a specified time period (a month? don't remember), it only counts as ONE hit against your rating. We have been advised to wait 6 months after buying the car and then to close all credit cards that we aren't using at the same time, so it'll only count as one hit and not multiples. I like that, as closing a card is the same hit as opening one.

Congrats to the OP!! I wish I'd get this offer. I have a Disney VISA with about $800 in rewards on it; it's about to pay off my balance for August's vacation. I wish I'd get the $200 offer; I'd be on that baby immediately! Unfortunately I got my Disney VISA when they originally offered it... I have a pin that says "Member Day 1" on it that was given as incentive...

Man, I wish DH or I would get this offer! I already have one, but I would definitely apply for another for $200! I saw online somewhere today that you could apply and get a $15 g.c. Big whoop.
I wonder if there's anything you can do to get on "the list" so they'll send us one??

Same here - I wish DH or I would get this offer. We'd be all over it!

OP enjoy your $700 in free rewards $$. I'd do the same thing if I got the offers.

Congrats OP! Ignore the Debbie Downers and their unsolicited advice and enjoy!
