Dag nab it! I am an AP holder, go to WDW three-five times a year, answer every survey, send for every DVD (WDW, Disney Cruise, and DVC) about twice a year. I check every time I call, to make sure my email address is correct and on file. I have never received a code! . We are already booked at PORS for free dining Sept 6th-14th, but I thought I'd call and just check on her PIN today. The PIN states it is good for Select Disney Value Resorts $59.00/night, plus tax in a Standard room for stays most nights 08/03/08-09/27/08. When I just called to check out possible other dates and resorts, I was told it was for 08/03/08-09/27/08 only and that it was a room only code only and the DDP could not be purchased with it. I had him double check about purchasing the DDP, but his supervisor said these particular PINs could not have the DDP added. He also told me that the Free Dining was a better deal, even for the Deluxe Resorts. I had him check room rates anyway, and lo and behold, no Values and no Moderates are coming up for my dates with this PIN. In fact only WL Courtyard View at $1908.00 and AKL Standard View at $1458.00 are available for my dates. This is with three adults in the room.
Right now we have the DxDDP (basic plan free) for eight nights at PORS. We know it's alot of TS meals, but my mom is a diabetic and with the heat we are planning on taking this trip really slow, so don't mind all the TS meals. We have three meals/day most days, as well as one Signature meal at Narcoosee's. Adding the DxDDP cost us $768.00 ($32.00/day x8days x3people). The other day, out of curiosity, I figured what we would all probably eat and without tips our meals came out to $2449.62. (Tips will add another $440.00-$490.00 at 18%-20%.) This is just eating where we want and not particularly trying to maximize the DxDDP.
So for the $768.00 it cost us to upgrade to the DxDDP we are getting $2449.62 worth of food. We could give that up, to save $947.04 off Rack at WL or $956.80 off rack at AKL. Then pay for our own meals. Again no moderates are available and this is for three adults. I think we'll pass on the PIN. Even the CM said we'd be crazy to use this particular PIN and he's not sure why they were mailed out during the free dining time, since no way could the PIN beat free dining, even for a Deluxe. ($947.04 saved off rack rate divided by eight nights divided by 3 people equals $39.46/day for each person). No way can we eat for $39.46/day apiece.
