I told her that I went to get takeout from Red Lobster yesterday (yummy!) with a friend and then I referred to him as "him" in the next sentence. She asked me where I met this guy and I told her that the security guard that had been interested in me almost two years ago (I had asked for her advice about that at the time) was still my friend and that he had asked me out a couple of times since Thom and I separated. I also told her that I was starting to think about going out with him. She remembered that he was African-American and I told her about our age difference seeming more awkward than the racial difference to me. She just said that I need to consider whether it "would be a good, long-term association" or not. I told her I don't plan to get remarried ever anyway, but she said that would most likely change because of my age. Other than that, she took it pretty well.

Honeywolf is he younger than you? Which sounds good to me! anyway I say go for it. He may turn out to be a terrific friend. And if you don't care nobody else should. I have a sister just recently divorced and I don't envy trying to date again. She is taking it very, very slowly. Have some fun you deserve it.

(((hugs))) Becki. Don't let what others think keep you from being happy.

dating is hard. I have been doing it for 6 yrs. now and I just dont think there is anyone for me in this world. I know I could get on AOL and get a date a night but that isn't how I want to meet someone, through typing, a newspaper or a date line, I want to meet someone in my real world so they meet me and be attracted to me first then get to know me. Go for it, he sounds like he could be a nice guy for you and those are hard to come by. :D

I have "gone for it" but I didn't want my mom to know that I've actually already started dating him. He's not younger than me...he's 12 years older than me. He's on the tail end of the "baby boomers" and I was born in the Bicentennial year and it sometimes feels strange to think about things he was alive for that I wasn't or the fact that when I was hit by a car at age five, he was already driving because he was 17.

Actually I don't think 12 years is a big deal. That doesn't seem like much of a difference to me. It's not like Anna Nicole Smith and her husband, now that was an age difference.

My dad was 10 years older than my mom. They were very happy together. The only drawback was that he passed away when she was still pretty young.

I met my DBF of 2 and half years through an AOL personal ad. we spent a long time writing back and forth so that when we met face to face it was like we were already old friends. I lost all hope in meeting people before I answered his ad on a whim. It was the best thing I ever did! You just never know til you try!
