I can now say that I get it. I get the reason why people spend the extra $ for a deluxe resort over a value. Don't get me wrong, we still love our Pop Century, but man o man..... There is a difference in what you get

The rooms are much bigger and the beds are really comfy. The balcony is a great plus which I never thought was important...but I now get it!!!
The covered walkways...Oh, the covered walkways.....well, I gotta say, when people commented on that as being a 'plus' I thought "really? That is so not a big deal"....well, IT IS WHEN IT'S POURING RAIN. Not to mention, The bus lines at a value compared to a deluxe are night and day. You have to line up like a cattle call in the hot sun at a value and at a deluxe, you casually sit around under a covered area and when the bus arrives, everyone leisurely approaches. It is wonderful!!!

I could be wrong, but the quality of the towels at a deluxe are waaaay better. They are thick and fluffy and bigger.

There are so many other things I could say, but....I REALLY DO GET IT NOW. There are a bunch of differences....some more subtle than others, but it all makes a difference. :thumbsup2

I have been booking at deluxes for a while now, though I have stayed at values and they have their own charm - I love the food courts for example and the big icons. I was just looking for a couple of nites to add on to the cruise I am taking with my 7 year old grand-daughter and was thinking she would love the values. but then I realized they don't have a water slide! and she loves the water slides at WDW. So dontcha know we are booked at WL for two nites....Now she is excited about the bunkbeds.....

You said that nicely!

I stay at all levels but deluxe is just that, deluxe:goodvibes

Mods really are a happy medium. Might choose a deluxe if it's just wifey and me and get a king bed but with the kids we just won't spend enough time at the resort to make a deluxe make sense.

I kinda feel ya on the value-cattle connection too.

I like the deluxe hotels because people don't pee on me there.:rotfl2:

We haven't stayed at any of the values, but our first onsite stay was at a mod (CBR) and while we loved the resort and had a great stay, once we tried a deluxe the following year, we haven't stayed anything else since. We love the little extras that the deluxes offer.

Yes, there is a difference!

I am glad that you enjoyed it!

I noticed the towels too!!
The shower gel and lotion... and i swear the toilet paper is softer too ;)
That balcony.. is there anything better than sitting on your balcony with a snack waiting for the fam to get ready?
We have done value mod and deluxe... this girl is now a deluxe girl :)

I agree that the beds and towels get better as you move up the chain, as do locations.

So excited to read your review! Staying at a deluxe for the first time in January!:cool1:

Did you see SAB? That's can be a nice attraction as well.

So glad to read this, we are just the opposite and need some help! We are wanting to stay at a value for the first time. Our villa reservations at Animal Kingdom-Jambo are January 2-9, and we are thinking of surprising the kids by leaving 2 days early in order to see the New Years fireworks. I would love suggestions, since we have never stayed in a value resort. Which value resort do you recommend or not recommend? Will we be able to handle a value after being used to deluxe villas?

I have stayed mostly and mods and values and on our last trip we stayed at the Beach Club. And I can tell you it will be so hard to go back to even a mod. We saw Illuminations for our balcony, walked a few minutes over to Epcot, and loved the pools. And the rooms...they are so much bigger and nicer and cozier. It was definitely worth the extra money. I think it will be our favorite resort from now on! I can't wait to go back :)

Ha about the toilet paper! DH and I stay at POP usually with one stay at POR and an upcoming one at AoA. We always do a day of resort hopping, though. On our recent trip, I came out of the public restroom at the Contemporary and announced to my husband that I now knew why the deluxe resorts cost so much...two-ply toilet paper!

Yes there is a difference we stay at all stars for an additional night for some reason or another and really didn't like it. We had left BCV and went to all stars what a difference. The really thing I disliked was no slides and no towels at pool. You have to use you room towels so when you go back to get a shower after using the pool you don't have a dry towel to use. Call front desk and it ooh them 40 minutes to bring new ones so needless to say we didn't have dry towels to dry off with. I would do it again only for a couple days but wouldn't stay there my whole vacation unless if that's all I could afford. Being in Disney anyway possible bets being home. Enjoy your stay and take extra towels with you for the pool. Have fun at New Years events.

There is definitely a difference! DH and I used to stay at POP Century in college and enjoyed it but when we took our first trip to the Beach Club, there was no turning back! The deluxe resorts are worth every penny!
