I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

I think that after all of the hard work you've been doing you deserve some new shoes! Even if they are running shoes. :rotfl2:

Sounds like a great plan for the afternoon! You know where I stand on HM bribery! :thumbsup2 I hope that he rides it for you!

BTMRR is one of Maddie's favorite rides! Have you considered letting him ride the Barnstormer first as a warm up? It's so tame, but he'll likely consider it a real roller coaster-if he likes it that should make BTMRR a piece of cake!

Maddie's never had a problem with fireworks, but I've heard of a lot of people using ear plugs/muffs. That might work!

The new shoes are great & I even improved my run time by 1 minute/mile the other night. :woohoo:
Cool! Who would think shoes would make that big of a difference?

One attraction that I forgot to mention was the Monster Inc. Laugh Floor. For some unknown reason, this is an attraction we haven't checked out. So, on our way out of Tomorrowland, I plan for us to stop there & get our laugh on!
I'm actually kind of in the same boat. I've seen it once, and I was selected to be Randall for our show, but they had technical difficulties a few minutes into the show and we had to leave. I've never been back to see the whole thing yet.

After that, we'll probably take an ice cream break. Now, I know this is a DIS sin but.......I have never had a Dole Whip. But, I fully intend on changing that this year. So, I'll probably take this break time to try out the infamous Dole Whip & Ed (I'm sure) will get something else. Reid will share with whoever's selection he prefers. :rotfl2:
I had my first Dole Whip last year. Personally, I don't get it.:confused3 I thought it was good, but I just don't get the hype. DW didn't care for it and didn't even finish hers. I'm a big fan of orange flavored things though, so I think I'll be trying an orange or a swirl whip next time.

It looks like a good plan for the day. I hope Reid is willing to give some new things a try. If not, I hope your bribery is effective!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Thanks! At least they're pretty cute running shoes! :rotfl2:

Thank you. Yeah, I know at least you won't judge me for using bribery! :lmao: I really hope he'll ride it once & at least try it. If he tries & doesn't like it, I won't force him to do it again. I just want him to try it once at least.

BTMRR is one of Maddie's favorite rides! Have you considered letting him ride the Barnstormer first as a warm up? It's so tame, but he'll likely consider it a real roller coaster-if he likes it that should make BTMRR a piece of cake!

I'm planning on putting him on Barnstormer that morning when we're in Storybook Circus. I'm really hoping he'll like it. If he doesn't, I don't even know if I should attempt BTMRR with him or not. :confused3

Maddie's never had a problem with fireworks, but I've heard of a lot of people using ear plugs/muffs. That might work!

This is going to sound bad of me but I really don't want to have add earphones to our backpack. It's always so full anyway with a change of clothes (I always bring one just in case for Reid even though *knock on wood* we've never needed it), a big water bottle, sunscreen, clip on stroller fan, autograph book & pen. I'm thinking I'm going to buy some cheap earplugs & try them out at home to see if he'll even let me put those in his ears.

Cool! Who would think shoes would make that big of a difference?

I know, right?!? After I bought the shoes, I read some reviews online about them & a lot of people said the same thing. Now if it could only shave off a few more minutes for me. :rotfl:

I'm actually kind of in the same boat. I've seen it once, and I was selected to be Randall for our show, but they had technical difficulties a few minutes into the show and we had to leave. I've never been back to see the whole thing yet.

See - the whole audience participation thing is the only thing that keeps me from going. I'm not big on that kind of stuff. But, I guess I just need to relax, go & try to have fun if my family is picked.

You know, I've heard a few DISers say they don't like the Dole Whip. That orange swirl sounds very good! I'll have to tell Ed about it, sounds like something he'd enjoy.

It looks like a good plan for the day. I hope Reid is willing to give some new things a try. If not, I hope your bribery is effective!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Thanks! I hope he'll at least get on the new rides & try them once. If not, I have enough Disney reward dollars ready to be used for bribery items! :rotfl2:

I forgot to chime in on the Monsters Inc thing. I think it's hilarious, and we love it!

But, if you're a little gun shy because of the audience participation part I wouldn't worry. For the parts where they "pick on" someone I've only seen them pick men. They only seem to pick women for the an easy question like "where are you from" and even then it's usually someone who looks like they might speak a different language. Makes for funnier interaction with the language barrier. Maddie was chosen once for one of the times that they pick kids, and those are really easy going as well. The main person chosen is usually a big burly hairy guy, so I think you'll be safe. :rotfl:

Yeah, I get that. I'm not a big fan of it either... maybe that's why I haven't been back since I was picked on the first time. :rotfl2::lmao:

They picked me out as Randall, asked me to make myself invisible, so I crouched down behind the seat in front of me. Shortly thereafter, they had technical difficulties and asked everyone to leave the theater. Maybe I broke it by getting out of my seat.:confused3 :rotfl:

Yay for new shoes!:cool1: Who knew new kicks could cut off a minute per mile:confused3

I think you guys will really enjoy Monsters Inc.. it is pretty funny!

Good idea showing Reid video of Haunted Mansion! The first time I took Nick on he was asleep in my arms when we loaded he woke up when you look down on the ballroom but did not freak out thankfully!

Maybe you can test out some summer local fireworks and see how Reid does.

GReat plans. :thumbsup2 I, for one, love Pirates and I do hope that Reid will go on the HM. If you can get him past the stretching room he should be fine.

You were running in tennis shoes? :faint: OMG - that makes your 20 minutes of running even more important. Good running shoes are key to enjoying running. I am normally thrifty and don't like to spend a lot of money on myself, but I never skimp on my running shoes.

Enjoy! I love the first run in new shoes!

OMG you have the game!!!!! :hyper:

It looks sooo cool!!!! We don't have an Xbox Kinect, so booo ! They should come out with a pc or Wii one!! :thumbsup2

Great plans! I love Pirates! :lovestruc

Congratulations on your running! That is just amazing!!! :thumbsup2

That's all really good to know! Thank you! Sounds like maybe Ed should be worried though. :rotfl: He'll die if they pick on him. But, I think we need to go & experience it at least once.

:rotfl: Too funny!

So, if I need to get us out of there, I'll just try crouching behind the seat. :rotfl2:

I know, right?!? I have to say that I am really enjoying them, too!

I hope so! I think we need to check it out at least once.

I probably would've freaked out if woke up to that scene! And I love Haunted Mansion! :lmao: That's great that he didn't freak out on you.

Maybe you can test out some summer local fireworks and see how Reid does.

There were quite a few people in our neighborhood doing fireworks on July 4th. And not just little fireworks. Some of these could've rivaled Wishes. Seriously.....they were HUGE! Anyway, we went outside to watch them. He did make it through all of them & didn't cover his ears for too long. But, he did cling on to me for dear life. I can handle that as long as he doesn't scream & cry like he did at the beginning of Illuminations last year. :sad2:

GReat plans. :thumbsup2 I, for one, love Pirates and I do hope that Reid will go on the HM. If you can get him past the stretching room he should be fine.

Thanks! The stretching room is my fear! :scared1: Like you said - if I can make it past that, I think he'll be ok. I've heard you can ask to skip that part but I don't know if want to do that. I may just go ahead & pick him up or have Ed hold him when we go in there. I think that will help him not to freak out.

Now, I have to say that down here in the south we pretty much call any kind of athletic shoe a tennis shoe. So, what I was wearing wasn't like Keds or anything. They were New Balance but they were OLD & very wore out. Ed has been fussing at me ever since I started the C25K program. He's been telling me that I was going to injure myself if I didn't get better shoes. So, I guess it's a good thing I listened to him......for once. :lmao:

Enjoy! I love the first run in new shoes!

I must admit that I am really loving them!

OMG you have the game!!!!! :hyper:

We do! It is soooo much fun! But, it will wear you O-U-T! :rotfl:

It looks sooo cool!!!! We don't have an Xbox Kinect, so booo ! They should come out with a pc or Wii one!! :thumbsup2

Ed & I are big kids so we bought the kinect & the Disneyland game as a Christmas/anniversary gift to each other. It is really a cool game! My favorite is the Peter Pan game. You get to fly like Peter Pan & then you have to sword fight with Captain Hook!

Great plans! I love Pirates! :lovestruc

Thanks! Pirates has always been a favorite of mine. Such a fun ride!

Congratulations on your running! That is just amazing!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I still can't believe I'm doing it. I went from zero exercise routine this past April to tonight running for 26 minutes. Again, I know it's not much to some people, but it's a really big deal for me. I may be slow out there but I'm getting it done! :lmao:

Ahh, can't forget the Laugh Floor! But remember: NO SULLEY. ;) :lmao:

I really, really hope that Reid loves Haunted Mansion! Now, I'm no parent, but I do not blame you one bit for the possibly bribery... sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do. :rotfl:

That's right! I have to find a CM there to scream at for ruining my trip by not having Sulley there. :lmao:

I'm glad to have y'all on my side with my usage of bribery! :rotfl2: I don't do it often but sometimes it's the only thing that works. And on vacation it's easier than arguing! :thumbsup2

Well, that makes me feel better because I pictured you doing all this running in a flat boat shoe. I am a big fan of Asics because I have a wide foot. I also love having someone fit the shoe for me. I really splurged on my last pair and then I didn't want to take them out of the box because they were so expensive. It took me about 3 weeks just to wear them. :rotfl:My DH also encouraged me to get them because he said - you run a lot so go for it. I still won't work through wet grass them or go in the dirt.

Keep me posted on your progress! :)

Yeah, that would really be bad if I was running in a flat shoe. My old shoes were bad enough but at least they did have some support. I'm really liking these Asics I bought - they are the Nimbus 14. I love the gel support or whatever it's called.

Keep me posted on your progress! :)

I sure will! I'm surprised that I have been able to do my runs without any stopping yet. I'm very slow but I'm making my way through them. If I could find a way to get lost in my music & stop thinking of how I'm feeling, I think I would do much better.

LOVE the plans for your day. And I'm all for a little bribery to try something once. And I think Reid will be absolutely fine!

Thanks! I figure a little bribery never really hurt anyone! :rotfl: I'm thinking he's going to at least be good to try them. You just never know though how they'll react once it's time.

I'm finally caught up!

Your MK plans look great! I felt the exact same way about Monsters Inc because I am shy and would have died if they had picked me! But it was funny! Anthony especially loves it.

I personally love Dole Whips but I love pineapple. I think they are very refreshing but I could see how they may not be for everyone. It's def worth trying though!

Bribery, I think we have all been there! I think it's perfectly fine especially when it's something you think they will like.:thumbsup2

Sounds like a really great day:cool1:

As for Magic Mike, Matthew's character is just very slimey. I don't know that it would ruin him for you it's just very different then he usually is. I would wait for the DVD.

Thanks! I'm glad to know you enjoyed it. I think we'll give it a try & pray we don't get picked. :rotfl:

I love pineapple too so that's why I think I need to at least give one a try. They really do sound refreshing. I also saw something on the Disney Food Blog the other day that I'm thinking of trying. It's at the Main St. Confectionary (I'm pretty sure). It's Chocolate Covered Pineapple on a stick! YUM!

Bribery, I think we have all been there! I think it's perfectly fine especially when it's something you think they will like.:thumbsup2

I really hope I don't have to use bribery but I will be ready if I do! :rotfl2: I just hope he likes the rides. I will feel bad if I get him on them & he's traumatized by them.

Sounds like a really great day:cool1:

Thank you! :goodvibes

Hmmmm.....yep, I'll definitely be waiting on the DVD. :lmao:

I finally made it!!! Now to go back and try to catch up:surfweb: I'm wanting to see these costumes for MNSSHP:thumbsup2 Now that I'm done with classes for the summer, I'll have a little more time....kind of...

Heather

Oh that sounds good! I never make it into the shops on Main Street:( so sad.

Yeah I would feel bad if they were terrified. Luckily that hasn't happened and I hope it doesn't happen to Reid!

Thank you! :goodvibes
