I finally finished my Autograph Albums!!! YEAH! ((WITH PICS))

You can definitely do 5x7 but you'll only be able to get 1 image per page b/c of the margins. Even if you reduce the top margin to .75, it puts the images too close together at the bottoms.

So I guess the choice is 5x7 and more cardstock, or 4x6 and a smaller pic.

Good Luck~!

If you want to get a 1" margin at the top of each page for binding, you can still put the pictures into word and get two images per page. The trick is to set your top and bottom margins for 1". Put the first image at the top of the page, put in one space, and add the second image on the page. Now INVERT THE BOTTOM IMAGE. The upside down bottom image now has 1" of space for binding from the bottom margin. Cool, huh? And it saves all that extra card stock! :goodvibes

Thanks. But I really am clueless on this Word stuff. How do I put a 1 inch margin. Can someone please tell me step by step? I have Word 2007.

Do I go to page layout? I've been playing and can't figure it out.

The inverting sounds like a good idea. If I can get the margins right, I'll try that.

Hi everyone - great autograph books. I am getting ready to print and then bind mine this week. You mention "inverting the bottom image" - how do you do this in Word? Just don't think I have ever done this.

Thanks! kristina

Oh, I see where the margins are that you make 1 inch at top and bottom.

I guess my first question is how do I make them 5x7? Where in Word do I go and what do I put?

Sorry!!

You can rotate the image by selecting it on the toolbar, you can go under help if you don't have the button on the toolbar.

As far as margins, when you try to resize the image to 5x7, even if you rotate the bottom image you won't be able to get 2 per page, because your image is 5 inches plus an inch at the top. Don't forget about the margin at the bottom of your image. In order to get 2 5x7's per page, you would literally have the two images touching at their bottoms (with a rotated bottom card).

Ok so I played with Word and you can get 2 4.65x7 on a page if you reduce the margins at the top and bottom to .75 instead of 1. This will give you a VERY small amount of space at the bottom of each image, maybe 1/8 or 1/16 of an inch, but it will work.

As far as resizing the image, right click on the image and select "format picture". Newer versions of word have an "size" selction above "format picture" when you right click. It depends on your version...

Hope that helped.

If you want the file with the 2 5x7's I can send it to you. I saved it just in case.

:thumbsup2

Okay. I'm fine with one per page.

Do you think it's a good idea to do the 5x7? Is it going to distort the picture any? I was thinking I may have read something about that somewhere. My brain is fried from studying this.:rotfl2:

Now I did find where you can edit the pic but it won't let me do 5 x 7. When I change the width, it changes the height. does that make sense?

Thanks for all your advice!!

I think we're typing at the same time!! I would love the file with the 5 x 7.

Then if you send me that, can't I just copy it and change the pics? not sure. Let me know if I can do that.

Thanks

I am making my images as 4x6, with a 1/2'' margin on the sides and a 1" margin on the top (making a 5x7 overall image - margins are white). You can right click the image (in Microsoft Word) and select the "size" option. This will allow you to alter the size of the image and also to rotate it 180 degrees. Just be sure to keep the lock ratio box checked, or else the characters all start to look like they need to go on a diet! :rotfl: Also, be sure that all of your images are centered on the page.

Are you trying to get the picture to be 5x7 or just the actual card?

My images were 4x6 but with the margins, they ended up being 5 1/2x 6 1/2.

As far as 5x7, it's just preference. Remember the larger the image size, the larger the book. Will you have a lot of pages? I didn't want my DD's carrying anything too bulky in their packs.

I'm going to work on it some more. Thanks!! I'm sure I'll be asking more questions real soon.

It's so easy and I feel so silly. I'm doing duplicates on each page because I have two daughters so two a page really is good for me!!

Thanks!!!

YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!

I'm so happy for you!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Let me know how you are doing, and I can't wait to see them!

Those look great! Can you please e-mail me the template? I have been trying for the last year to make my own autograph books and can not get it down. BTW-- What all characters did you include in your MNSSHP book? This will be our first year going.

Thanks!!

I will definitely email you the template. Are you trying to do a book similar to how mine turned out?

I pretty much used all of the ones that LJCollins(AreWeThereYet) had available. Plus I printed about 6 extra pages for blanks.

Please let me know if you need any help with your books!!

Wow! You did an awesome job!

Could you email me the templates?

Thanks,

Thank you so much for all the great information on making your own autograph books. I have been researching how to make them for weeks and now I finally figured it out with all the info I have found here. I will be getting my cardstock this week and I can't wait to get started.:rotfl:
