Day 2 (9/19): Vacation is such hard work
We slept in much longer than we normally would have, but since it was our first day at sea, its not as though we had tons to do or a schedule to keep. We actually missed breakfast, which is unheard of at home when even on the weekends one of three hungry cats is perched on my chest by 6 AM, demanding breakfast. Since breakfast at Topsiders was closed, we headed to Lumieres for brunch. We both had the regular breakfast, mine with French toast on the side and no meat and Gregs with everything. It was pretty good.
After breakfast we headed to the shops where we met some more Disers and I bought the Med cruise sweatshirt for 50% off. We were kind of in the Med. Besides, the Transatlantic sweatshirt was white. Who buys a white sweatshirt? No way could I keep that thing clean. I also picked up my magnet and some bandaids.
We dropped off the loot in the room and headed for the DVC member event. Free hats! Free mimosas! We sat with Andrea and Greg and Greg and I (er
my husband Greg, not Andreas Greg, that would be weird) were the newest DVC members, so I got to be a judge for the trivia game. It was fun for a while, but honestly I felt it went on too long. I think we won a bag of some kind. Wed go to the DVC member event again, but next time wed probably skip the game and just go for the beginning.
Somehow we were hungry again. Must be the sea air. We grabbed some pizza slices from Deck 9 and, sadly, got sucked into watching part of Camp Rock. How lucky that all of those kids happened to know the choreography! We stopped into Cove Café for some desserts and read magazines for a few minutes, then decided to change and hit the deck chairs on Deck 10.
At around 5PM I hit the gym while Greg his happy hour in Diversions, then we actually went to the show Twice Charmed tonight. I thought it was really cute, and quite impressive for a moving ship.
Tonight was formal night and I wore the blue dress I bought for this purpose. It was a juniors size, so I figured I should wear it at the beginning of the cruise in case I didnt fit into it by the second formal night! We were in Lumieres, as I previously mentioned, and it was very nice. We both took glasses of wine to dinner and, as others have said, that was no problem at all. Poor Greg, the first night he asked for a Coke because he needed the caffeine even though he normally drinks water with dinner. Ever after that, Gilbert brought him a coke without asking and Greg felt too guilty to tell him to stop!
This was the Prince & Princess menu, and it was really easy for me to find things to eat. I had salmon rolls and royal salad (I thought the pieces of cheese were too large, but other than that good). Greg had the sausage soup, which he thought would be spicy but wasnt. I had the pumpkin ravioli which was very good. For dessert I had the cold chocolate mousse/soufflé, which was very good but not cold. Greg had the strawberry shortcake, which got a big meh from him. We quickly got formal photos done on Deck 4 before the adult cabaret.
Tonight was the ventriloquist very cute. The jokes were very old and mostly bad, but he did them in a cute way and we enjoyed it. It was a good way to end a very nice day tomorrow is Gibraltar and an early start!
