Great....Disney extends the stinkin' FTP into November....I knew this would happen. I can't take advantage of it because I have already reserved my room at BWV renting points for Nov 16-21. I didn't feel so bad when the offer was only good till the end of Oct, my dates are set and can't be changed. Plus, I was thinking that everyone will take advantage of the FTP and that would leave the parks empty for my trip. Now, not only can't I take advantage of this great offer but I anticipate larger crowds than normal for the week before Turkey Day. Damn, damn, damn. I don't mean to sound so *****y but damn!!!!!! For all of you who can take advantage.....congratulations.:D OK, enough venting, now I am going to go throw up.

Why don't you make a ressies under the FTP for the dates you want to go...and then try to rerent the points. If you are successful renting the points just get the named changed on the ressie and notify the owner.....If you aren't able to rent the points cancel your ressie....

Just a thought...

I know where you’re coming from. I was upset that FTP was happening in October since I’m going then and can’t take advantage of it since I’m an AP holder. I’m actually glad they’ve extended it since maybe it will spread out the crowds a bit. As weird as this is going to sound, I’m kind of sad about the FTP and all the ads Disney is bombarding us with, because I feel like throngs of new people are going to be invading MY place! How dare they! ;) I guess we should be happy if the FTP is bringing lots of new visitors since what's good for Disney is good for us. It’ll make it better for all of us if the parks are doing well (less layoffs, more new attractions, less attraction closings, longer hours). But it sure has been nice not having to deal with the crowds. However, we don’t really know yet what kind of impact the FTP will have on the crowds. It may not even be noticeable. And even if it’s crowded we’ll still have a great time!

For me I want the room rates to drop. I want to stay in Nov for 4 nights only so the FT thing wont work for me. Please let the room rates drop. please let the room rates drop.

Pugsley,
I know exactly what you're saying about "new" people invading "our" space. How selfish of us!!!! Everytime I see that dang FTP commerical I want to hurl something at the TV.

Zurgswife...
I really wish I could take your suggestion however, we will be traveling with another family who were given a free stay at BWV by one of their DVC owner relatives. This is the only way they can afford to go right now. So, what would work out good to my benefit (and let's face it....it really is all about me!!!!:smooth: )would end up costing them more...no can do. Besides, if it were that easy, what would I have to whine about????:teeth:

Hhmmmmmm I'm a little confused about the new people invading our space, weren't we all new at one time...don't all Disney Lovers like to share the MAgic...???

Don't worry about crowds in October or November before Thanksgiving. :) Over all travel is down right now. Disney has lost significant international visitors due to SARS, the economy and even lingering 9/11 fears. Our national economy is pretty lousy as well.

This recent ad pitch won't fill the parks to capacity. I just hope it fills them enough to keep rides open, parades going and restaurants serving food. These are not booming times we are living in, despite all the people you read about going to Disney on these boards.

I've recently booked the FTP for two friends who would not have otherwise been able to afford a week long vacation in Disney World. It will be the first trip for both. I think it's wonderful and would go at the same time if I had the money to do it. :)

I'm so happy they started the FTP. We had gone to WDW in '97 (my and oldest DS's first trip - DH 2nd) and we had wanted to go back... but the cost! Well, lo and behold, the FTP allows us to go back and to take our youngest for his first time, yippee! This great package also brought me to the wonderful world of DIS. For me personally, it has worked out well.

M:smooth:

I would rather you just barf then vent ;)

Without it, we would have not been able to afford to go this year. If enough people are there - hours of park operation get extended too!

Win Win situation for all!!

I know how you feel. We got APs that we plan to start up in August. We are going the same week as we went last year and I was hoping for no crowds again. Im afraid it will be crowded and so far the MK hours are shorter some days than they were last year(the day I was counting on it being open to 8:30 with FITS like last year)!
Then we booked a Christmas trip, our first and probably only one. While we are currently booked at ASMO, I was hoping to split the stay between there and a deluxe(for Christmas and my birthday) using ap rates. Im afraid if they extend it again, there will be no ap or even code rates for that time period, like last year.
While its a great deal, and if I didnt have aps I would be taking advantage of it Im sure, its getting me worried. Disney seems to be giving great deals to the casual visitor and not to the die hard fans. :(

Mickey88, since you’re confused, I’ll explain. Cantw8 and I were being sarcastic -- we don’t really think we own the parks! We were just hoping for light crowds and now we’re concerned that it won’t be that way. Sorry if that offends anyone.

CamColt, they should have AP rates. They almost always have ap rates. Even with their current promotion they have ap codes and florida resident codes.

Thanks for the hope! :D So far they dont have any ap rates for our August trip so thats why Im nervous. We have the Aug trip at a goood rate with the DC discount so even if there are AP rates offered it wont be much cheaper. Im more concerned about Dec. I like your way of thinking though. ;)
