I've just started my diet :) I have about 40 lbs to loose. I've been counting calories and yesterday I had enough for an In and Out Burger and small french fries.

When I ate it I felt like a cheater. I wanted to enjoy it but felt like I was eating something I'm not suppose to.

Anyone else feel that way? Did I cheat?

If it's in your calorie range and are eating a balanced diet, it's no big deal. It is helpful if you can get yourself to think of it as a lifestyle change and not a diet or cheating to make the kind of life long change you need to really make all your hard work stick. That is easier said than done! ;)

Good luck!

Don't feel bad. The nutritionist/dietician that helped me told me it is okay to have a little something every now and then as long as I didn't over do it. She told me I'd be setting myself up for failure if I tried to avoid everything that wasn't part of my daily diet. She told me that dieting and a good exercise routine isn't supposed to be a temporary fix, but it is supposed to be a normal part of your life every day.

I know I should use the word "diet" anymore. I guess when I post next time I should use "lifestyle change" lol

I'm glad I'm able to have some things. I just feel so guilty afterwards. I did learn my lesson though. After that In and Out burger and fries I was hungry 3 hours later. I did resist temptation, brushed my teeth and got ready for bed ;)

You know what is helping me when I feel like I cheat is a food journal. I bought one and started writing EVERYTHING I eat in there.

I mean yeah there are days when I say I'm just going to have to eat the fried chicken club from Mc D but then again I go crap I have to count all the calories and fat I just consumed.

Is there anything wrong with having that every once in a while? No, but in moderation of course. But a Food Journal might help. :)
