i heard from a friend that taking the i drive to universal is a cheap way of getting there.
question is : what is the cheapest way to get to international drive from pop ??

thanks in advance :)

Do you mean the I-Ride trolley? If so, it's still a fair walk from the nearest stop to Universal (probably 20-30 minutes)

You could switch off to the green line trolley but it's a bit of a faff.

The cheapest way to get to I-Drive from Pop is to catch the Lynx bus (number 50 I think) from the Ticket and Transportation Centre to Sea World, then you can hop on the i-ride there.

I-Ride Map

This is how you would need to do it:

Catch a bus from Pop to Magic Kingdom
Walk or get the monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Centre
Catch the Lynx bus to Sea World
Catch the I-Ride to the nearest stop to Universal
Walk to Universal

The whole journey would most likely take about 2 hours.

Then you have to do the whole lot in reverse to get back.

Would be much easier and quicker (and not that much more expensive) to get a taxi or Mears transportation (in my opinion).

That's not true. You'd need to get the 50 from the TTC to Sea World (20 minutes) and then free transfer to the 8 up to Wet 'n' Wild (15 minutes). From there it's a 10 minute walk to Universal. You could do it in under an hour, or cut it down even more by taking a cab from Wet 'n' Wild ($5).

The I-Ride trolley is MUCH slower than the Lynx buses.

If you didn't feel like doing all that, last time I took a cab between Sea World and Universal, it was only $16.

You can see from this timetable that it's a 35 minute journey from TTC to Sea World.

I agree that the I-Ride trolley is slow but we found the Lynx buses notoriously slow also - they stop evey few yards, most frustrating.

To the OP, I wasn't saying that it can't be done and I wasn't saying that it would definitely take 2 hours but, allowing for waiting for buses, transfer times (Kath, you didn't allow for the time to get from Pop to Magic Kingdom, then from Magic Kingdom to the TTC) it is going to be well in excess of an hour.

From a personal point of view, I would not be wanting to spend up to 4 hours of my day travelling between my resort and Universal and, when Im tires and hot at the end of the day, I don't want to be faffing around with 3 or 4 buses to get back to the resort.

And, yes, you could get a cab from Sea World but if it costs $16, the last time we got a cab from Universal to Disney it cost us $28 so, for an extra $12, you can cut out all of the messing about.

We found that the Lynx 50 ran much faster between TTC and Sea World than was advertised - often we arrived 10-15 minutes earlier. It only goes down the I-4 so as long as there's no traffic, it barely stops. It would be shorter if the OP got on at DTD too (which is much closer to Pop).

We've used the Lynx buses for several trips and found them very convenient - they stop only when someone wants to get on or off, so if you ride at peak times they are slower, but often we got a ride to Sea World from Wet 'n' Wild with only 1 or 2 stops :confused3

The buses from Disney to Universal are pretty appalling, but they are feasible and do get a LOT of bad press. We've done it several times and never has it taken us more than 90 minutes even in 5pm traffic.

thanks ladies i've passed on the info to the other half :)
cheers dclman i have already bought my tickets

Done this twice now. Really perfect for those of us who stay onsite with no car. :)
