I am just finishing up my first year of teaching kindergarten. I always thought I was an "older kids" type person, but I LOVED kindergarten!! I am so sad there's only three weeks left. :sad1: I'm not sure what I'll be teaching next year...

I floated the idea of failing every student so we could all have another year together, but my principal wouldn't go for it! :confused3

I don't want all my little kinders to go to grade one!!!

awww...that's so sweet in a sick sort of way! :lmao:

I'm sure your kindergartners will always remember you!

Our kindergarten teacher is retiring this year. Some of my dd8's friends' parents had her for their kindergarten teacher! She is well loved and we are so sad to see her go.

You have given them their start and helped shape them into the people they will become someday - that's major! :thumbsup2

That's really sweet of you to love your K kids so much! :lovestruc
Trust me, you won't always feel that way, some years you will count the days and kiss the calendar for the last day! ;)
It sounds like you have found your niche and I hope you get to stay (teaching) in Kindergarten!

you'll get another bunch next year that you'll love just as much. After spending the entire school year with kids you build that nice community and it's hard to let them go. The great thing about teaching is that we have the opportunity to start again in September. I'd love to keep my class for another year. This year's bunch is great. :)

I love love love this time of year. With all the wind-ups and concerts, it is fun to enjoy them. I don't want this time of the year to end either. The summer is ahead to look forward to but once it's summer, you have winter coming.

This time of the year is always so bittersweet. I love all of the fun activities that come with the end of the year, but it's hard giving up my "crew" at the end.

Three weeks, I only have three days!
I always feel this way, too---you get them to this great place and then you start ALL OVER!

One of our 3rd grade teachers took classroom pictures all year long and then printed the pictures and had them bound into a "yearbook" type of thing. She does this each year.
Maybe you should do something like this each year to remember your classes.

ahhhh......ya gotta love first year teachers!

I work with jaded HS teachers. Everyone is counting the days - one more day of instruction, then 3 days of finals - that's it!

:goodvibes Well, rest assured that your students are feeling the same way about you! As we lay in bed tonight, my kindergartener asked me "how many more days of school?" I counted them out for her as she frowned at me and looked totally bummed. I asked her "why the sad face?" And she said because she was "really going to miss Mrs. Brown." :sad1: I'm sure your kiddos are feeling the same.

And from the mom of a Kinder....thanks for loving our babies the way you do!!

I am also just finishing up my first year teaching kindergarten--i am going to miss those kids! Im excited for this year to be over, just so the first year is completed! It was a whirlwind of a year with so many unknowns but i have loved every minute of it. They have grown so much and I cant wait to watch them grow up through each grade of the school!
