Hi there everybody! First off,
I would like to apologize for my absence. Life has been absolutely crazy! My last musical EVER was last weekend, and I was sort of a wreck after the last show. We did
Oklahoma, and it was probably the best cast of a show I've ever been in. It was small, close-knit, and we had a BLAST. When the curtain was closing on the last curtain call of the last show, I completely broke down. I cried on dozens of shoulders, and all of those people now have serious makeup stains on their clothes. It was the most fun I've had doing a show in my life, and I was in a state of denial/depression for a couple days. The Thanksgiving/Black Friday festivities have helped me to snap out of it, but I thought I'd show you all my lovely costume anyway!
I didn't like it at first, when I saw it on the hanger. It was SOOO heavy. I had the heaviest one, and no one knew why. That thing was a workout to wear! However, as soon as I put it on I fell in love with it and the character and everything about the show. Unfortunately, this costume broke after one show, so I ended up going through three different costumes, plus one that didn't break for another scene. My other two weren't as good as this one, but oh well. That's show business!
In other news, and since I have been gone for over a MONTH, Halloween has come and gone! I was Princess Jasmine this year, courtesy of Jess' costume and some self-tanning. One of the directors of my show was Cinderella, so we just had to pose for a picture together, and I thought I'd share it with all of you!
It was so fun!
And now that that's all out of the way, I want to apologize AGAIN to you all. You are all such loyal readers and I seriously don't deserve you!
I'm hoping to finish this TR before my trip in JUST 15 DAYS, so bear with me while I post giant chunks of updates! And I'll hopefully be able to do a little PTR post, so stay tuned for that!
And now, on with the show!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
We woke up the next morning a little on the late side. Okay, so it was 8 A.M., but that's late when you're in Disney! We got ready and I brought my luggage up to my parents' room at about 8:30. We loaded up the car, said goodbye to Nat and Jess, and drove off to AKL! This is when the trip report changes, folks. Everything from here on out is BRAND NEW INFORMATION.
Ooooh, ahhhh....
We arrived at AKL in no time at all, and I was so very happy to be home. I wandered all over Jambo House and took pictures while Mom checked us in.
I love that giant window. It's absolutely breathtaking.
Outside we go!
The beautiful lobby:
Hellooo down there!
We left our luggage with bell services and went down to the Mara to grab a later breakfast-ish snack to tide us over for a while, as well as our refillable mugs. I shared a raspberry smoothie with Sarah and a chocolate pastry with myself.
Here's a tip: If you're staying at AKL or want to try something new, check out the Mara! It's an awesome quick-service and they have the best smoothies! You can also get great smoothies, like a Mango Lassi, at Sanaa over at Kidani Village. They're great for cooling off in the crazy summer heat.
We went up to the Jambo bus stop and were off to Animal Kingdom!
We booked it to Finding Nemo: the Musical once we got there, because Mom really wanted to see it and there was one starting at 11:30.
We just made it, and it was a nice escape from the heat of DAK.
Gotta love that Big Blue World.
After the show, we decided that we should just have lunch, because our snacks hadn't held us for long.
The smell of the Flame Tree BBQ was beckoning to us, so off we went!
If I could bottle a smell...
We ordered and found a nice little shady pavilion to eat in. The seating area for Flame Tree is so beautiful! There are all these lanterns and beautiful colors, and also streams and rock formations. It's perfect!
Mom and I decided to share the chicken and ribs platter, which was delicious! I love me some good BBQ.
Scott had the Flame Tree salad, whose photo escapes me. However, I remember trying some and commenting that it was REALLY good. Definitely an excellent salad option at DAK.
Sarah, who wasn't as hungry as we were, had this beautiful fruit plate!
There was so much beautiful, fresh fruit on here, and it came with yogurt too! It was the perfect meal for our little eater.
We all had Key Lime Mousse for dessert, which was kind of a weird texture on top, but very refreshing and pretty good all the same.
The other great thing about the Flame Tree seating is the unexpected surprises. Sarah found this guy and they quickly became pals.
Also, you can see Expedition Everest from one of the clearings!
We headed off to Dinosaur next so Scott and I could ride it (Mom can't handle the jerking and Sarah's a chicken), but the wait was 50 minutes! We decided to grab some Fastpasses for later.
Scott and Sarah headed back to AKL to see if the room was ready and go swimming, while Mom and I browsed the shops and queued up for the 2:30 FOTLK show.
We were seated in the Elephant section, and we had a lot of fun making the noises. It was a great show, as it always is, and my Mom was having the time of her life clappin' along.
After the show, it looked like it was going to rain, so we decided to head back and clean up before dinner. Would our room be ready? Would Sarah and Scott get a chance to swim at all? And, most importantly, WHERE ARE WE EATING!?
Shut up with all the questions and stay tuned!
